Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-
one Christian care to adults (18 and over) in our community* who are
experiencing difficulties in their lives such as –
Loss of a loved one Hospitalization Divorce or separation Loneliness or discouragement Spiritual crisis Unemployment or a job crisis Terminal or chronic illness Caregiver/family member of
someone with terminal/chronic illness
Birth, adoption, miscarriage or infertility
Relocation Recovery after accident or
disaster
A STEPHEN MINISTER IS:
Christ-centered - works and acts as an instrument of God’s love for others
Compassionate – has gifts for caregiving; carefully selected to serve
Skilled - received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care
Trustworthy – a Christian friend who listens and respects the care relationship’s confidentiality
Faith-filled - will “be there” for his or her care receiver; meeting faithfully for about an hour each week, for as long as there is a need.
