If the Charlotte City Council and Mayor fully and unconditionally repeal their ordinance then I believe we have something to discuss. As for the House of Representatives, any specifics to be done would be subject to discussions and a decision of the caucus. I applaud the Governor in his continued efforts to promote the economic growth of our state while ensuring basic privacy and safety protections of citizens in bathrooms, showers and changing facilities.”

of talk of a deal with the State to have HB2 repealed following a Charlotte repeal of its ordinance. I’m not sure that there are more than 5 votes in place at this point, but we sincerely hope that the matter will be on tomorrow night’s agenda by one way or another. Julie Eiselt shared an idea with Joe Padilla to make a motion for a conditional repeal based on the State’s commitment to repeal HB2 within 90 days. Please know that

many of us in the business community are ready to go to the mat to support the City on this. We must give this compromise a chance. Many thanks –

RK: Chris, thanks for your note. I am exhausted and the weekend is far from over because this will go on into the wee hours of the morning. I am curious as to when Julie made this statement. How long ago was that?

CT: Thus was within the past hour. Ron – we will go en masse with our industry peers from across the State to Raleigh to be sure that there is reciprocity. We must all demonstrate leadership and will certainly expect it from those in Raleigh. We will have the Council’s back on this! Wishing you peace and rest in this critical time.

RK: Chief, do you support doing this at Fire HQ because your location makes sense because it matches well with this State emergency? We need to be careful that there is a rationale for your building to be the preferred, right site. I do know he is speaker at Charlotte Rotary tomorrow.

JH: We are Emergency Management for City and County. And I know when he is in Charlotte he likes our building for press conferences.Political side is so hot right now. I wanted to be in right place with you.I leave for Boston in the morning. I will not be there.

RK: I believe it is right because you are Emergency Management. I support it if you do. Who will be your point person in your absence? I assume Chief Granger?

JH: Correct.RK: I am good with this. Safe travels to Boston.JH: We could give him a backdrop but no speakers.

we try to get Governor and media “ground rules” that this press conference is about fuel emergency and not anything else?
