You can choose 5 items from over 40 fun and creative ways to practice your spelling words. Once you complete an activity, it’s off limits until the new spelling list. Most assignments can be completed on loose leaf paper. However, not all assignments can be completed on paper. Some activities listed below need a parent note to ensure me that your parent or guardian saw you doing the activity. The note should be written by you, and your parent or guardian should only have to sign it. Spelling ContractWe have entered into a contract. You can choose 5 items from over 40 fun and creative ways to practice your spelling words. Once you complete an activity, it’s off limits until the new spelling list. Most assignments can be completed on loose leaf paper. However, not all assignments can be completed on paper. 9. Scrambled Words – use the worksheet to unscramble the letters to spell each word correctly.

10. Word Search – complete the word search worksheet for this week’s words.

11. Crossword I – make a crossword puzzle using grid paper. Then, trade with a friend.

12. Crossword II – complete a premade crossword puzzle from a friend.

13. Graphing Words – write your words on graph paper and outline in 2 colors.

14.Ransom Words – spell out your words by cutting out letters in a newspaper or magazine and glue them on paper.

15. Pyramid Words – with each word, add or subtract one letter at a time. The result will be a pyramid shape of the word.

16. Words-in-Words – write each of your words and then write at least 2 words made from each.

17. Delicious Words – write your words in whipped cream, peanut butter, or anything you can eat! Bring in a note from a parent!

18.Good Clean Words - write your words in shaving cream on a counter or some other surface that can be cleaned safely.

19. Dirty Words – write your words in mud or sand. Be sure to ask a parent first!

20. Pasta Words –write your words by arranging alphabet pasta or Alphabits. Glue on paper or bring me a note from a parent and do on a table or counter at home.

22. 3D Words – use play dough or modeling clay rolled thinly to make your words.

23. Create an Activity - Can you think of a fun way to do your spelling words? Create it! Use it!

24. Picto-Chat – use your DS to write out each spelling word.

25. Spelling City – go to:www.spellingcity.comPractice your words for 15minutes.

26. Definitions – look up and write the definitions for your words.

27. Pipe Cleaners – use pipe cleaners to bend & twist your words.

28. X Words – write two words having one common letter so they criss-cross.

29. Other Handed – if you are right-handed, write the words with your left hand, or vice versa.

30. Choo-Choo Words – write the entire list end-to-end as one long word, using different colors of crayon or ink for each word.

31. Silly String – with a long length of string, “write” words in cursive, using the string to shape the letters.

32. Backwriting – using your finger, draw each letter on a partner’s back, having the partner say the word when completed.

33. Telephone Words - translate your words into a numbers code from a telephone keypad.

34. Flashwriting – in a darkened room, use a flashlight to draw letters on a wall.

35. Newspaper Words - search a newspaper page from top to bottom, circling each letter of a word as you find it.

36. Media Words - write a TV commercial using all the words from your list. Then perform it in front of your family!

37. Hide & Seek Words – write your words on Post-it notes or small pieces of paper. Have someone hide them around the house for you. As you discover each one, spell the word aloud!

38. Cheer Your Words – make up a cheer for each of your words and perform for a family member.

39. Puzzle Words – use blank puzzle form. Write your words on the form, making sure that the words cross over the pieces. Color the puzzle, if you wish. Then carefully cut the pieces out and put them in a baggie with your name on it. Trade with a friend and put them back together.

40. LOOK SAY SPELL COVER WRITE CHECK – write your words on a sheet of paper. Then LOOK at the first word. SAY that word out loud. SPELL that word out loud. COVER that word up. WRITE it next to the word you were just looking at. CHECK the spelling to see if you spelled it right. If correct, move to next word. If incorrect, try again.

41. Beautiful Words – write your words in fancy or bubble letters.

42. Popsicles – make words using popsicle sticks.

43. Red & Blue Words – write your words in red & blue making all vowels red & all consonants blue.

44. Microsoft Words – open a Word document and type out all your spelling words three times each. Print it or email it to me!
