Since its founding document, the latinamerican network of tensile structures, “La Tensored”, has different goals. To promote the tensile structure`s technology by teaching and spreading the knowledge, to design materials and to offer training and information courses for students and proffesionals.

Within these objectives, organizing symposiums is one of the driving actions that have been made since the year 2002:

A new session will take place in Buenos Aires from September 30th to October 2nd, 2020.

It will cover topics related to the design, project, calculation, engineering, manufacture and specific assembly of the technology. It will also include the technical and enviromental aspects that involve them in the current architecture´s concerns.

The symposium offers:

Main conferences by leading actors of this technology in the world, both professional and educational

Presentations open to researchers, professionals, teachers and students

Introduction speeches from providers and developers of supplies and technology

Students contest to stimulate the teaching development

Workshops of design, calculation and manufacture`s softwares

Meeting of the Latinamerican network of tensile structures

Other activities, such as visits to building site and construction, will also be organized.

Local organizing committeeThe local committe is in charge of the organization of the symposium, integrated by members of both organizing univer-sities and representantives of “La Tensored”, Argentina.

Latinoamerican organizerThe members of “La Tensored” that participates in the organization are the members of the executive committee, who are responsable of assignments inside the organization.

Scientific Technical CommitteeThe “Tensored”`s scientific committe is also assigned to respond to the evaluations, the contests and presentations.

The VIII Latinamerican Symposium of tensile structures will take place in the Architecture Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires - FADU (Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo), located in the 3rd building of the Buenos Aires University City.

These events bring knowledge and enrichment to its attendants due to keynote speakers from different areas, such as educational, professional and industrial.

They present:

Design and engineering studies.

Leading companies in technologies execution

International and regional’s academics to have a vision of tensil structures’s teaching in both Europe and Latin America.

Manufacturers of supplies and tools are presenting advances in technical tissue technology

Software developers are presenting their evolution of the formfinding, calculation, structural optimization, pattering under parametric resources as the industry demands

These conferences, in addition to the open presentations, will try to reach every interest that an event of this category requires.

MASTER CONFERENCES

The presentations are open to independent professionals, researchers, teachers or institutions and companies.

These will be free of charge, prior approval of the academic committee and subsequent presentation.

There will be accepted works that discuss historical, formal, computational, economic, educational and technological aspects related to the design and construction of tensioned structures of cables or membranes, Tensigrities, transformable and inflated structures.

Potential participants should send a one page abstract in spanish or portuguese in PDF format accesing it to the presentations’s inscription.

These abstracts will be reviewed by at least two members of the Scientific Committee of the Symposium.

OBJECTIVESTo promote and reinforce the teaching of these types of structures in Latin American universities, and to stimulate the diffusion and use of tensile structures in Latin America.

SUBJECTFree time is as valuable as workingtime, as it exists to rest physically and psychologically. During this time we can do activities where we can explore our relational, artistic and sporting development, among others.Even better, we can do this type of activities in spaces built with tensile structures or unconventional elements, diffe-rent that we use or where we usually move.

This edition’s subject is the innovation and efficience in leasure and recreation’s architecture/ engineering. Expecting solutions that include different coverage for these spaces, even suggesting one where the tensile structures are part of the amusement.

CONTESTANTSThe contest is open and anonymus, directed to PRE and POST graduate students of the architecture, engineering and design careers from universities throughout the world.
