the organisation of schedules and NBS specifications, CAD/BIM drafting & physical model

making.

EDUCATION

I am an enthusiastic, conscientious and highly

motivated graduate looking for a Part 2 architectural position. I

have previous office experience, and have utilised excellent

communication and organisational skills during my time in practice.

This summer I graduate from The Cass School of Architecture.

Throughout previous years studying I have acquired

invaluable work experience in a variety of office environments, working full time, part time and

during the summer months. I want to combine my interests in urban design with practical construction experience in order to further my

architectural career.

Diesel LimitedIT Internship

July - Aug 2010

Worked for a leading fashion brand at their London head

office. Responsible for administrative duties, video

making and poster layouts within the office.

Beresford LoftSept 2012 - Sept 2014

During the last couple years I designed and oversaw a loft

conversion and the remodelling of the first floor of my parent’s

house. I submitted the drawings to the local authority for permitted

development and liased with the contractor on site once the

building commenced.

Bellis ArchitectsSeptember 2011 - Jan 2012

A Part 1 placement which involved working on the

renovation of the Grade 1 listed Liberty of London department

store. My duties included participating in work stages A to L, drafting feasibility studies and planning documents, site visits

and administrative duties.

Football

I am an avid football enthusiast and regularly played for my

University team during my 3 years at Oxford Brookes. I now continue to play during the week in 5 a side

matches

INTERESTS REFEREES

Traveling

I spent 5 months travelling around South America during

2012. I enjoyed embracing new experiences and cultures whilst

I was away. The magnificent diversity of the South American landscapes, climates and food

provided a beautiful backdrop to a memorable architectural tour of the continent. Recent trips to

Andalucia, Rome and Lisbon have cemented this desire to explore

new places.

Foosball

My interest in foosball stems from a summer spent playing my former

employer every lunchtime until I finally managed to beat him.

I then retired.

Cycling

Since living in Oxford, I initially embraced cycling as an easy way to get around. After a few

years of cyling now, I find myself inseparable from my trusty red 1981 Raleigh Europa. Regularly cycling around North London for

fitness and pleasure.

EXHIBITION

In 1975 polymath architect engineer and counter culture hero Buckminister Fuller,

created a children’s story book titled ‘Tetrascroll: A Cosmic Fairytale. As part of the London Festival of Architecture a

colleague and I created an installation that brought the book to life and echoed Fuller’s

characteristic pyramidal geometry.

The project is a Children and Adult Service Centre that provides local community facilities for the surrounding area. The

building houses an open plan office facility for 150 staff, whilst also providing interview rooms, a conference room and two activity

rooms for the visitors of the centre. The building takes the form of a large timber

shed, reminiscent of the former workmen’s sheds that stood in parkland setting. The building is clad in Siberian Larch and will

slowly age and turn grey.

A feasibility study for the University of Greenwich examined options for the reconfiguration and

expansion of the building to provide more space for the expanding University. The Dreadnought building

was a Grade 2 listed former Seamen’s hospital located on the Old Naval College Campus. The

new programme included a mix of faculty space for teaching, offices and a large student centre. My role

included diagrammatic reiterations of the design, compiling room data sheets and issuing schedules to the numerous different parties involved in the project.

The project involved a series of small scale interventions to each warehouse, shed and hall in order to unearth the existing beauty of these

industrial structures and reveal them to the museum visitors. The former cafe above had a 1970s suspended ceiling and magnolia paint, both of which were stripped away to reveal the slender roof structure and a new insulated roof.

CALEDONIAN PARK CLOCK TOWER

The 47m high, grade 2 listed clock tower was constructed in 1855 as the centerpiece

of the Metropolitan Cattle Market. The proposal was to repair the unused works.

The proposal includes the repair of the disused tower with improved access for visitors. Whilst

also, developing a small visitor’s center and cafe at its base. This centre will house interpretationdisplays’ and support a range of educational

activities in the park relating tothe site heritage.

During the last couple years I was able to design and oversee a loft conversion and the remodelling of the first floor of my parent’s house. I submitted the drawings to the local authority for permitted

development and liased with the contractor on site

once the building works commenced.

The Collage Hotel harnesses the potential to densify in the South London junction. The building is a

collage of environments, spaces and atmospheres that are synthesised together to offer a building that is as ecclectic and vibrant as the city it is situated in. In many ways it is a city in a building. Above

is the concept collage of different types of space intermingling on the floorplan and a view of a hotel

interior.

ACADEMIC WORK

Vincenzo Di-Trolio Curriculum Vitae

23|

The building is part of a shared junction. As a group we created a new ensemble of buildings at 1:150, to enliven and harness the potential to densify on the junction. These buildings are of

different character each responding to that part of the junction and collaged together to offer an

experience of variety that you find in the city.

Vincenzo Di-Trolio Curriculum Vitae

|24

At a city scale the hotel is made up of a variety of complex parts, its formal cliff like front, its

flank wall to the junction and its informal back. It engages with many scales from its 16 storey

luxury suites to its ground floor public chambers leading away from the junction. These images are

depicted using 1:50 models.

A mixed use building in the city, with a formal front and informal back that is synonymous with

London terraces. The front creates a relationship with the formal facade of the Hawksmoor church

and the back steps back at its rear to create a series of terraces. 1:50 and 1:200 model shown

above.

A 1:25 timber precedent study of Transit House by Bovenbouw. The house is a transit home for temporarily homeless in Antwerp. The model is constructed out of cheap and found materials

from the workshop. These represent the low cost palette of materials Bovenbouw employed in the construction of the project. The different textures

in the façade reveal the interventions. Existing openings are closed, new parts use different

materials.
