The Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) was established under Title 3, Virgin Islands Code.

INTRODUCTION

The BMV is primarily charged with the administration of laws and the collection of fees from the operation and licensing of motor vehicles, under Act No. 6761, Bill No. 26-0025

The BMV has two statutory requirements: the provision of basic customer services to the motoring public and the issuance of drivers’ licenses, vehicle registrations, title certifications, and other miscellaneous functions.

BMV offices are located in both the St. Croix (STX) and St. Thomas/St. John (STT/STJ) districts.

The bureau is comprised of two key divisions: 1) administrative support services and 2) customer services.
