VIRGINIA HEALTH CATALYST ANNUAL SUMMIT – PRESENTER APPLICATION Have you implemented an innovative initiative or program at the community level to improve oral health or health outcomes? Conducted research that has the potential to inform community action? Engaged in advocacy or policy work that has an impact on the oral health or overall health of Virginians? We want to share your work with our partners! Virginia Health Catalyst’s mission is to ensure that all Virginians have access to equitable, comprehensive health care that includes oral health. Virginia Health Catalyst's Annual Summit will highlight new approaches and projects aimed at improving oral health and community health on October 7, 2021 in Richmond, Virginia—and we want to hear from you! What we’re looking for: The Summit Planning Committee is looking for speakers to share their expertise on a panel highlighting innovative research and community-based initiatives. During the Summit's afternoon breakout sessions, selected panelists will share their work with participants from multiple sectors and disciplines, including dental and medical providers, community health workers, home visitors, social workers, public health professionals, health care administrators, members of legislature, and health advocates. Topic areas of particular interest include: Medical-dental integration Value-based care models Health equity Cultural humility Trauma-informed care Community and patient engagement Public health policy Oral health and health technology Operationalizing data & data equity HPV and oral cancer prevention Maternal morbidity & mortality School-based and pediatric oral health Dental-related Emergency Department (ED) diversion techniques Tobacco & vaping cessation Strategies for better serving marginalized communities, including, but not limited to: Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), immigrant, LGBTQ+, disabled, rural, elderly, and low-income communities Conference details: Currently, the Summit is being planned as an in-person event; that being written, the health and safety of our speakers and attendees is our top priority and Catalyst is prepared to shift to a virtual format if necessary. Panelists will attend the Summit on October 7, 2021 at the Westin Richmond at no charge; if travel costs are a barrier, please contact Catalyst staff about travel scholarships for those living outside Richmond. The Summit will highlight nationally-recognized speakers in the morning portion of the event, and will feature breakout sessions on community-based initiatives conducted in Virginia during the afternoon. Panelists will be featured during the Summit's afternoon breakout sessions, where three (3) 50-minute sessions will be occurring concurrently from both 1:00 - 1:50 PM and 2:00 - 2:50 PM. Presenters may apply for: 1) a full 50-minute presentation slot; or, 2) a 15-minute presentation slot on a panel with 2-3 other panelists engaged in related work (panels will be created and populated by the Summit Planning Committee). All sessions will include a facilitated Q&A. If you are open to either presentation option, please indicate that in your application. If you are applying with multiple presenters, please indicate that in your presentation description. Applications are due by May 1, 2021. What we’re looking for:
