EDITERS NOTE
NOON, AUGUST 24TH : CALLED GENERAL MEETING of the Virginia Unit
Lunch Rally, Ruckersville, VA
From Linda Lee and Gary BrinkB
At the Region 3 Meeting, John Frerking, (Region 3 President), approached Randy Rinehart about
the possibility of a merger of all the Virginia Units into one Airstream Club. Randy presented the
information to all the past Presidents of Unit 109 in a meeting on May 31 and the consensus was
to call a business meeting for the members of Unit 109 to discuss this important issue.
Since we have not had a rally since Christmas, it was decided that we needed to meet prior to the
Commonwealth Rally in September with the express purpose of relaying this info and get a vote
from our members if this would be something that we would be interested in pursuing. In
addition, we will need to nominate officers for 2018. We will have this meeting as a lunch rally
on August 24th. Directions to the restaurant are below. PLEASE RSVP TO GARY BRINK
PRIOR TO August 10TH SO GARY CAN LET THE RESTAURANT KNOW HOW
MANY TO SET UP FOR. E-mail [email protected]; Cell: 1-908-347-5354. Thanks.
I was able to arrange the venue for the 8/24 unit meeting - the details are as follow:
Thursday, 08/24/2017, starting at Noon
BLUE RIDGE CAFÉ
8315 Seminole Trail
Ruckersville, VA 22968
(Located on the southbound side of Rt-29 just south of the Rt-33 intersection)
434-985-3633
We will have a large, private meeting room (at no cost to us). Attendees will order from the
menu and will pay via separate checks. An extensive menu ranging from complete meals down
to soup, salad, and sandwiches is offered.

COMMONWEALTH RALLY
I am pleased to announce we
will have the Commonwealth
Rally IN the
Township of Front Royal, VA
21, 22, 23 & 24 September
(I'll arrange for
earlier arrivals as desired) The focus will be in downtown Front Royal
exploring it's heritage and history.
Saturday the 23rd is the Brew & Blues Festival with downtown Main St.
cordoned off for the festivities.
We (Front Royal) also have our Friday night concert series at the
downtown gazebo along with additional local venues, driving and/or
walking tours of historical interests.
I've satisfied the town requirements to utilize city property to conduct
our rally, we'll be centrally located, in town across from the Bing
Cosby Baseball Stadium Complex. We'll have rally water & electric and
use of a pavilion.
I spoke with the mayor and he is very receptive to us staging our event
here to the extent he has offered to create and present a key to the
City. (Don't know who would keep it afterwards so . . . ) The mayor will
request a diversion to our city "trolley" to pick up & drop off at our
site which will be an added convenience. The trolley is routed
throughout town and extends out to the Riverton & Crooked Run shopping
plazas north of town.
I'll compile & forward additional rally info soon.

The Tidewater President asks that a note be put into the newsletter
Regarding bringing your sea shell from the 2016 rally to the 2017
Commonwealth Rally. Entries will be judged & winner awarded $100.00.
Feel free to add it to the Rally write-up or wherever you think it fits.
Thanks,
Doug

2018 REGION 3 RALLY
It our understanding from those who attended the recently concluded 2017 Region 3 Rally in
Georgia that the 2018 Region 3 Rally site has been confirmed to be Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach. We also learned that reservations can be made
now, and we recommend that, as this location in years past has been very popular with our Virginia Unit members.
We understand that the official rally dates are April 25 – 29, 2018, which is Wednesday to Sunday. We also learned that Section HH is to be favored, which, if you have been to a past rally there, know it is close to the building where activities are usually held.
Thus call the campground reservations number at
Ocean Lakes Campsite Reservations (located in the Main Office) Reservations: 877.510.1413 * For campsite information
www.oceanlakes.com/
Apparently Region 3 has reserved the entire Section HH for us Air streamers beginning on April 22, and has obtained a special rate of $52 per night for the 7 night period only, beginning on that Sunday, April 22. Some sites have already been reserved by members.
Therefore, many will make reservations for that 7-night period (arriving Sunday and leaving the following Sunday) and pay the required deposit. A campground map can be found on the campground’s web site that you might want to look at before calling to familiarize yourself with the layout. We recommend making your reservations now if you plan to attend and want to park in a cluster near other Virginia members.
Later, IF there is interest, we can consider meeting somewhere reroute for a night or two in advance and traveling in together in a caravan that Sunday. Let us know if you have suggestions, such as locations. Douglas & D. A. Powell, #9900 [email protected]

YOUR ASSISTANCE IS REQUESTED: Our unit newsletter is the singular best means for communication to our membership. Assistance from all members is needed to keep each issue as interesting and informative as possible. Please send me news, information, photos, etc. of anything that you think others might enjoy - it becomes difficult to compose an issue when the sole reporter/photographer/editor is me!
Is there a new addition to your family?
Did you just install a new gadget on your trailer that is really neat?
Has a friend included a good joke or photo in a recent email? Did you just try a great recipes? Did you enjoy a particular good Rally? Kindly forward anything you feel
Appropriate, to me so we can all enjoy it!! The Editor!
