VISION STATEMENT - The principle purpose of the ICHA is to improve the quality of life for the community by providing social and recreational activities for individuals with a physical or intellectual disability living in Windsor & Essex County. Our goal of providing leadership is achieved through participation and commitment of our dedicated volunteers.

The roots of the ICHA were planted in 1977 at Glengarda School when Egidio Novelletto began a soccer program for individuals with an intellectual disability. The Association was granted charitable, non-profit status on July 22, 1987. Since that time, the Association has taken on the responsibility of delivering a number of additional social and recreational activities. The ICHA Valentine’s day, Halloween and Christmas dinner dances are filled with friendship, good food, dancing and fun. In addition to the soccer program, bocce ball, poly hockey (floor hockey), modified yoga and basketball have been added to meet the needs and demands of these “special individuals”; the ICHA is also sponsoring a five and ten pin bowling league. These programs are currently run year round out of the Novelletto Rosati Complex and offsite venues on various weekday evenings. ICHA social members have participated in many out of town tournaments as available throughout the year and have experienced the pleasure of traveling as a group to such places as the Thousand Islands, African Lion Safari and Canada’s Wonderland. The ICHA has established a fund to offer bursaries at both the University of Windsor and St Clair College. Bursary funds are accessible to people with a physical or intellectual disability. In recognition of an individual who contributed greatly to the early success of the ICHA, the Dario Rossi Memorial Bursary was established and is available to a qualified ICHA volunteer who is moving into a post secondary school environment.Today the ICHA is one of the largest organizations of its kind in Ontario with a social membership of 200 individuals and a voting membership of 60. Our social members range in age from 15 to over 50, with the average age of 35.Membership in the ICHA is open to all people with a physical or intellectual disability living in Windsor and Essex County. On October of 2002, the ICHA opened the Novelletto Rosati Complex with the ultimate goal of providing a home base for all special people in our community. Through the generosity of all levels of government and the overwhelming support of businesses and individuals in Windsor and throughout Essex County, the ICHA was successful in this endeavor.

If you know of someone that could benefit from our programs or is interested in volunteering their service with the ICHA, please have them contact us. Inquiries can be sent to the

It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all the participants, coaches, supporters and volunteers to the 2019 HandiCapable Indoor Friendship Soccer Tournament. The ICHA has proudly hosted this tournament every year since 1987 and we are pleased that the tournament continues to attract special athletes and many enthusiastic fans. The ICHA is a volunteer based organization that supports individuals with a physical and/or intellectual disability by providing recreational and social programs through funds raised in the Windsor-Essex community. For over thirty years this tournament has provided disabled athletes the opportunity to display their skills and talent in friendly competition. Our luncheons, banquet and award presentations have made each tournament a special occasion and pleasant memory for each participant.

Much work goes into the preparation of each tournament and we are indebted to all our loyal supporters and volunteers who contribute to the success of this event. We truly value their continuing dedication and commitment.

Best wishes to all our participants, families and supporters for an enjoyable and memorable tournament.

Share the Spirit,

Loris SansonICHA President

MESSAGE FROM THE ICHA FOUNDER

Dear Friends,

This year marks the 32nd year of the ICHA’s Indoor Soccer Tournament. Eight teams from across Ontario will be participating. A special welcome to teams from Brampton, London, South Simcoe, Woodstock and our teams from Windsor Essex County.

To all athletes, you continue to inspire us with your enthusiasm, love of soccer and sportsmanship. We look forward to seeing many smiles, cheers and goals this weekend.

To all coaches and volunteers, thank you for continuing to carry the “spirit” of these games. Hosting an annual event like this could not be possible without your support and dedication to our shared cause. We are grateful for all you do!

Finally, I would like to thank our local friends & business community for your financial support in making the ICHA Indoor Soccer Tournament a success.

Enjoy the Weekend!

Each year the ICHA will accept nominations and recognize an individual who has made a significant contribution of soccer within their community. The individual will be honoured at the Annual ICHA Summer Fundraiser. A plaque and picture of the individual being honoured will be prominently displayed on the ICHA Soccer Hall of Fame Wall inside the Novelletto Rosati Complex.

Luigi Tosti volunteered and served on the ICHA Board between Dec 2004 to Jan 2008. He participated in various committees involved in the successful fundraising for the Novelletto Rosati Complex. He was also involved in the implementation of the Price Water Cooper report recommendations to re-focus the goals of the ICHA . One of the main issues was searching for an

operator to run the Novelletto Rosati Complex. After leaving the Board, Luigi continued to promote the ICHA and all the activities on his Cogeco-Panorama Italiano local TV program; he continues to this day to inform the Windsor Essex Community of the ICHA work in the community. The coverage includes the yearly HandiCapable Indoor Friendship Soccer Tournament, the annual ICHA Fishing Derby and our Summer Fundraiser.

The Kiwanis Club has teamed up with the ICHA to make a special award presentation during the award banquet festivities. The “Bud Roberts Team Player Award” is presented annually to a local competitor who participates in the “C” or “D” level competition and who bests exhibit a “team” first approach to their play.

The individual may be chosen based on their play in the tournament, for cheering their team mates or simply being there for practices throughout the year. From learning from Bud Roberts achievements during his lifetime, we felt that he was truly a team player and that his trophy would serve as a legacy to the way he lived life.
