Where is Batalha?
Batalha is a small town located in the centre of our country, on the west coast, just 12 km south Leiria.
Batalha village
The nearest towns to Batalha are Marinha Grande, Fátima (a very important religious spot) and Leiria.
The most important monument in Batalha!
Mosteiro Santa Maria da Victória, world heritage since 1983. It is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal.

Built to commemorate the victory of the portuguese over the Castilians (Spanish) at the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385.

The gardens by the river. Our river is a very small one, it is called “Lena”.
Mouzinho de Albuquerque square – Where the Townhall was previously located.

Pia do Urso is a small village near Batalha. All the houses were made from scratches.
It has information in Braille for blind people as well as a pavement adapted for them so they won’t get lost!
There are also in the pedestrian path some activities. You’ll be able to see some windmills from some distance.
Our School
Kids start attending our school when they are 12, starting in the 7th grade, that means they have been studying for 7 years.
They can keep on studying here till they reach the 12th grade.
When students are going to the 10th grade, they must choose the academic field of interest. They may choose and study sciences, economics, literature and languages or professional courses, such as accountancy/ management, ICT, renewable energies and museum technicians.

There’s a big room where you can play games or just talk with your friends if you feel like it. When it is raining, it’s a good place!
