Introduction
In order to come to a satisfactory and modern redesign it’s important to factor in 3 key aspects of the design process:
Concept
Colour
Tone
In order to get a good idea of the implementation of these aspects, the following is a number of examples for inspiration.
Concept
Having a solid concept in any design helps you connect with your users and give them a feel for your branding and mission statement.
For example, mycolorscreen shown here is a website based on around the concept of sharing, discussing, and showing off mobile homescreen designs, with big and bold imagery at the forefront. Could ninja noodle use imagery as a driving force to entice customers?
Concept
In this screenshot from Famoso’s intro on their website, the idea of being social and in good company while dining is shown. Is this an impression ninja noodle would like to convey?
Concept
Over here, we see that the Lingnam Chinese cuisine website uses elements of traditional Chinese heritage to bring about an idea of authenticity. Is this idea something of importance to ninja noodle?
Colour
Having a great colour palette that strongly represents brand identity is one of the most important aspects to consider (along with typography!). This is because that within that 10-20 second window to get a users attention, this is one of the first things they think about.
In this torch browser example, they use bright and light colours offset by dark ones in the video thumbnail to make the thumbnail more impactful
Colour
An interesting way to create emphasis on a call to action is to combine multiple striking colours into a single element in a design, like in carbon crayon’s header.
Colour
While using bright and light colours conveys an inviting and fun message to uses, it’s also possible to use a black/white/greyscale colour scheme like this one from schiit audio to convey elegance and seriousness. Which colour scheme is more suitable for ninja noodle?
ToneSetting a tone is important because it gives off a feel to visitors which helps interpret your message. You can do this with almost any design aspect, but the most important ones are colour, typography, and alignment. Even the oft misunderstood comic sans typeface can have a place in design because it gives off a child-like playful tone. There are better type options for this however. Like Comic Neue shown here. What sort of tone can you use ninja noodle setting?
ToneUsing bright, bold, flat ui-inspired colours results a comforting “coming together” feeling in the Ull website shown here. Is this important to ninja noodle?
ToneThe green palette here on Klorane, along with the natural out-doorsy imagery make for a comforting and soothing tone, driving refreshing and revitalizing products. Could we use this idea to promote fresh food?
Conclusion
I hope this has given you an idea of how we can utilizing some key design aspects in order to make your website as successful as possible. What concept should we structure our design around? What kind of colours should we use to pull people in and identify your brand with? What sort of tone should we give off and entice your customers with?
