2010-2013 This group grew to over 30 faculty representing 12 Departments and 4 Colleges.
Faculty have used the group as an information resource, source of faculty from
other disciplines with similar interests, and a source for learning about external
requests for proposals. For example, the Environmental Protection Agency
released an RFP related to transportation and pollution. The IRG members were
notified of the RFP and three members subsequently met and discussed whether
to jointly submit a proposal.
Founder, Coordinator of Network on Self-Managed Teams
1992-1997 Group of local organizations made up the membership (Texas Instruments, Boeing,
AT&T, Valenite, and Department of Defense were charter members with roughly 25
organizations participating). The Network met quarterly at different members'
facilities to examine what the host organization was doing regarding various aspects
of self-managed teams (e.g. peer evaluations, measuring team performance).

into empowered work teams. Providing training to the nursing home administrator,
director of nursing, nursing home facilitators, team leaders, and team members.
Assist social researchers with measurement of employee empowerment and work
characteristics.
1998-2000 Assisted the Director of the North Central Area Agency on Aging (Doni Van Rysyk)
in writing a grant proposal entitled “Integrated services for older people with

developmental disabilities or older people caring for persons with developmental
disabilities.” The proposal was funded for $26,000.
1996-1997 Greater Dallas Community Relations Commission (Elizabeth Flores-Velasquez,
Director). Hired to conduct diversity training for a variety of organizations
including the City of Coppell and Lancaster and most recently councilors of Boys
Homes.
1995 Conducted an employee attitude survey for the United Methodist Reporter, a
publishing company, to identify opportunities for improvement. Presentations of the
findings were made to the UMR Board and day and evening staffs. The study has
resulted in new efforts to improve the procedures being used to do the work. The
specific report is listed above under Areports@.
1989-1994 Provided assistance to organizations such as Texas Instruments-Sherman, Department
of Defense-Quality Assurance, AT&T-Equipment Maintenance, and Valenite. This
included development of a survey instrument and analysis of survey data provided by
their employees. Myself, two Co-PIs, and two research assistants helped them
examine factors such as turnover, job satisfaction, motivation, stress, leadership, and
commitment. I was the Principal Investigator and primary contact with these
organizations.
1991 Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission, Victory, Texas. Provided a day
long work shop for Area Agency service providers for the purpose of reviewing (1)
barriers which inhibit service to the low-income minority elderly and (2) strategies for
overcoming them, in conjunction with Ph.D. candidate Tom Crow and Dr. Diana
Torres.
1988-1989 Provided assistance to the Texas Department on Aging in writing a proposal submitted
to the Gerontological Society of America. The Department was attempting to obtain
a GSA Fellow. The proposal was subsequently funded.
