Poole Town Centre Management has been trialling street wardens on theHigh Street for the past few weeks with great success. The wardens aredesigned to deter crime and aid retailers with issues throughout the day.

Glenn Johnson, Waterstones manager said they are “making a real difference to the‘feel’ of the town for both locals and visitors.”

Jeanette Lewis, Assistant Manager at Robert Dyas has described the wardens as anasset to the shops, a view shared by all who have come across them. With directcontact to retailers on the Town Centre Management Safer Business Scheme as wellas the Police, they have acted as a deterrent for opportunistic shop lifters and avisible sign of safety for the thousands of people who visit Poole High Street everyday.

In addition to this, they have also been responsible for reuniting lost children withtheir families, helping visitors with directions and assisting Police with deterringcycling on the pedestrian sections of the High Street, all of which has been met withhigh praise from all sectors of the Poole retail community.

Although the scheme is currently a trial, Poole Town centre management areconfident that it has, and will continue to make a real difference to Poole town centre.

Poole Street Warden Trials Great Success

The Devon based shop, ‘This is it,’ has been confirmed asthe new occupants of the old Woolworths store in PooleHigh Street. The high value shop offers a variety of goodsincluding toys, games, electrical, home wear, and sports andgardening equipment, aimed at a wide market.

A new lease has been signed for 10 years and will provide the local area with around20 (fulltime equivalent) new jobs, including management positions, sales assistants

and store room supervisors. “This is it” is currently recruitingand further information can be found on their corporatewebsite, www.thisisitstores.co.uk

The company, Wilton Bradley Ltd, are investing heavily in theshop and have committed half a million pounds to the shopfitting alone, in an attempt to create a high quality retailexperience when it opens in September 2010.

Poole Town Centre Manager Richard Randle-Jones says “Theold Woolworths store has been empty for some time and localbusinesses and residents have been waiting for something tohappen. Many thought it would never be occupied given thecurrent economic climate. This inward investment into theHigh St speaks volumes. From all the other towns they couldhave chosen in the South West, they have chosen Poole astheir destination of choice and this should be viewed as anextremely exciting and encouraging step towards the future ofthe High St.”

Let me introduce myself, Tom Scott, born at number one, Battery Cottages, HarbourRoad, Lower Hamworthy, about fifty yards from the Broomehill Boundary Stone, whichis still in place. I was educated at Hamworthy First School followed by Henry Harbinat eleven years old. A five year apprenticeship followed, at local shipyard ‘J Bolsonand Son’, then compulsory national service as a Shipwright Petty Officer. Since thenI have been employed in various disciplines with numerous companies! I have alwaysheld a deep interest in this area of my birth and am pleased to share some reflectionswith you, of a young lad’s life growing up in the 30’s and 40’s.

Can anyone recall what previously stood on the current site of Woolworths in the High Street?Well I’ll tell you; the ‘Amity Cinema’ known to locals as the flea pit. (Before that, it was a meetinghouse which moved to Lagland Street and eventually became ‘Lagland Street Boys Club’ of whichI was a member. (I’ll tell you more of that another time.) Saturday afternoon at the flea pitwas the highlight of the week for my mates and me. Sixpence treated us to films like ‘FlashGordon’ and his ‘Trip to Mars’; ‘The Lone Ranger and Tonto’; cowboy films starring favouriteslike Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers with his trusty steed Trigger.Laurel and Hardy were also popular entertainment for we boys.

The seating was in the auditorium and balcony which wassupported by ornate cast iron columns. Sometimes a courtingcouple would find themselves divided by a column (not veryconducive to holding hands) and it wasn’t unusual for an overcoatto fall from the balcony palisade, where it had been draped, on toan unsuspecting person below. Being shown to a seat could because for concern for another reason. If you were a big lad youhad a seat to yourself but if you happened to be slim, like me, youhad to share. There was no choice. “Two in a seat or go home”was the threat. The great embarrassment of the situation wascompounded when on occasion the seat had to be shared with a GIRL!! (Eight and nine yearold boys didn’t much like girls back then)

During the break an usher or usherette sold ice creams, peanuts and wine gums. The emptyice cream cartons or peashooters could be used to hit the backs of people’s heads or the screenwhilst cheering the hero or booing the villain. My Dad told me that during the silent moviesshown at the Amity in earlier days, a man wearing a top hat played the piano as filmaccompaniment. Again, empty ice cream cartons were used as missiles by the audience to tryto knock his hat off!

Even my grandmother attended the flea pit and once went to see a Charlie Chaplin film. Charliewas smashing a lot of crockery and my grandmother got so involved that she stood up, shookher walking stick at the screen and shouted “Stop!”If some of us became too unruly during the film, Mr. West the manager of the Amity, and a manwe youngsters feared, would expel a whole row of children regardless of who was involved.Would that happen today? I think not, it would probably cause a riot.

After the show we would pop next door to Joe ‘Bright’s’ cake shop (Joe was Mayor of Poole atthe time) and ask if they had any “Stale Gargies” (stale cakes). Homeward bound we wouldre-enact some of the film’s action in Bradfords disused warehouses situated near to St. Clement’sLane (Stinkies to us) to complete a happy afternoon’s outing.

Don't Replace Your 'Foggy' Double Glazing - Repair It!Father And Son Go Green With Amazing New Process For Poole Residents

Dave New has been running his own window company for the last 20 years, but hasrecently found himself replacing broken down double glazing units more often than ever.

After one evening of browsing the Internet, he found a new method which enables therepair of these 'foggy' windows instead of doing the initial replacing. The bonus of this newmethod is that it is easier, cheaper and a lot more environmentally friendly.

Get The Fog Out is a process established by Crystal Clear Window Works in Canada over5years ago. It allows us to re-engineer the unit to clear the fog and mist which builds upin-between the two panes of glass.

Dave’s son Jamie opted to quit his job to join his dad and took on this venture and broughtit to the Poole area to contribute into help making things greener and more economical forpeople.

Of course, when you have moisture in between the glass, it contributes to loss of energyas moisture is a good conductor of heat transfer, therefore, reducing the effectiveness ofdouble-glazed windows.

Over 300,000 units have been successfully repaired in North America and now this processis now available in the UK and, of course, Poole so, if you look at it in the largerperspective, this amazing new process can substantially downsize the amount of landfillcouncils, housing associations, window companies and ourselves cause by getting thefoggy windows replaced.

So this is our opportunity to act against climate change and global warming. It is also agreat option at this time where we a looking at some tough economical times. This is agreat opportunity for people to save money on home improvements on getting the fog outrather than having replacement glass, where it also has the benefit of doing their bit forthe environment at the same time.

Hearing footsteps in a shoe shop is not exactly unusual. But when you are the only onethere and they aren't your footsteps, it could be somewhat unnerving. But at StainersFootwear the staff and Stainer family are quite used to it.

Paula, (Great Granddaughter of Tom Stainer who founded the business in 1912) said “Oh yes Ihave heard footsteps, seen things pop of shelves, doors open and so has my brother Jon, nothingmenacing or really scary though”.

But none of this is really surprising when you know the building's history.

In November 1940 a German bomber with four crew onboard fell from the sky engulfed in flamesand crashed into what was then the Stainers shoe repair shop. Although Frank, Paula and Jon'sGranddad, grabbed young son David and began to run on sight of the fireball, he was not fastenough, for moments later they were buried alive under the rubble.

When you see a photograph of the aftermath it is truly a miracle anyone got out alive. Butsomeone was surely watching over them, for though badly burnt Frank and David survived.

As for the Luftwaffe crew - one baled over Kinson but his parachute failed to open and so waskilled, the other members stayed onboard and  either died on impact or were burnt alive.

Paula showed me actual pieces of metal from the aircraft that were found after the crash, alongwith a parachute document and most moving and amazing of all what is left of a gold ring.

The young men that died that day were our country's enemy, nevertheless they had family, friends and seemingly at least one of them had a wife. I am sure they didn't want to be over heredropping bombs anymore than our young men wanted to be in Germany doing the same.

Only recently Paula was told by a clairvoyant that she could see a man in German uniform whowanted her to know he meant no harm and wasthere to help. Paula was taken aback as no oneoutside the family and a couple of employees, even knew about the strange goings-on. Anduntil that moment even Paula hadn't thoughtthere might be a connection with the fatefulevents of 1940.

David Stainer did dosome research andmanaged to discoverthe names of theGerman crew. Theywere OBLT A VONKUGELGEN, FEL JDUCKGEISCHEL, JFFZK LOHN and K HOPF.

Yet which one of themseems quite contentto remain in Poole isunknown.

So next time you arein Stainers and can'tquite decide which

shoes to choose, yet one pair seem to edgeforward by themselves - don't be alarmed itmight just be a bit of spiritual intervention andadvice.

We chew and then swallow our food, tolaunch it on its long journey throughour digestive tract. It is normal for it tolinger a while in certain places butsometimes lingering turns tolanguishing and then to clogging…withunpleasant consequences! In factconstipation is one of the mostcommon medical complaints.

Too little stomach acid can be oneproblem. There must be sufficient acidproduction or poorly digested food staystoo long in the stomach and putrefies, resulting in bloating and wind. Harmfulmicrobes may remain intact and enter therest of the digestive system which cancause upsets and food poisoning.

Poor nail and skin condition may be a signof low stomach acid. The herbsCentaurium, Gentian or Yarrow, taken inwater before food will help to rebalancestomach acid, as will eating bitter saladleaves such as rocket and endive as astarter.

You may also find a supplementcontaining Betaine HCL and Pepsinhelpful or the tissue salt, PotassiumChloride, but seek advice before takingthese.

It is well known that fibrous vegetables, whole grains, beans, lentils and fruit, especially pineapple, sun-dried apricotsand figs, will provide the fibre needed tospeed up the processing of food throughthe gut.

They also provide a vast amount ofnutrients and are much better than relyingon wheat bran alone. Golden linseeds, soaked in water before use, help toprevent constipation and also provide uswith omega 3 essential fats.

By absorbing several times its own weightin water, fibre softens stools and addsbulk, preventing blockages in the

colon. The opposite is true for the refinedflour found in white bread, cakes andbiscuits. Try squeezing a lump of whitebread in your hand and then imagine itsitting inside you!

Children often mix white flour with water tomake a very sticky glue. Enough said!

Drink plenty of still water at roomtemperature between meals. If you aredehydrated, your body will resort todrawing back fluids from your bowel, whichwill not only cause constipation, but alsoheadaches and lethargy due to thetoxins released at the same time.

This creates a much heavier workload foryour liver and kidneys.

To support your digestion and to boost theabsorption of nutrients from your food youmay need to take a probiotic supplementoccasionally, as well as eating live yogurts.

Make sure you consume these after amain meal and not on an empty stomach orthe live, friendly bacteria could bedestroyed by the stomach acid.

Exercise also keeps things moving. As youchew, just think FEW :

Fibre, Exercise, Water and there’ll be nohold ups in your system! Sue Blain

The Borough of Poole was granted a Market Charter in 1453. Duringthe Second World War the market stopped, and Poole was no longerclassed as a market town. The Street Market was reinstated in2004, when the then Town Centre Manager campaigned to reopenthe street market after 12 months of research and consultation withthe public, residents, the local High Street traders and the Boroughof Poole.

Poole Market Gets Revamp

The weekly Thursday farmersmarket and Saturday street marketin Poole is getting a revamp. Themarket, which has been on the High Street for several years, in variouslocations is undergoing a facelift, with all regular traders being providedwith uniform gazebo tops to smarten up the look of the market. The newgazebo tops are yellow and blue, with matching flags to promote themarkets on the High Street.

The decision was taken to smarten up the market by the Town CentreManagement Board as a focus for the coming year and the results havebeen great already. After a street market review over the last few years, questioning businesses, visitors and locals and the Poole opinion panel fortheir views on the market the results highlighted a lack of knowledge fromlocal people about the market.

With around 60 traders Poole market has developed greatly, with a FarmersMarket on a Thursday and a regular market on a Saturday. Over 90% of thetraders are regulars, and the market is always looking to attract newtraders, with innovative and fresh products.

The farmers market offers the best of local, organic and free range productsbrought to you by the people who breed, grow and make their ownproduce. You can buy your food assured in the knowledge that the productshave been produced with respect for both the animal and the environmentwithout unnecessary chemicals. You also know that they haven’t travelled1,000s of miles to get to you as everything is produced on small farms, smallholdings and in some cases cottage kitchens within 50 miles of themarket. It is also reassuring that you can talk directly to the supplier aboutthe exact origin of the products.

Future plans for the market include introducing a new process of vetting fornew stalls, ensuring that they are up to the quality that the people of Pooleexpect and deserve. The market is an integral part of Poole and it is hopedthat with a focus on quality and variety, the market will flourish, and localsand visitors alike will be impressed by the professional gleam of the stalls.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) Director: David Slade

Having cut his fangs on teenrevenger ‘Hard Candy’ andinventive bloodsucker ‘30 Days ofNight’, could director David Sladekick off a ‘Harry Potter’-likereinvigoration of the ‘Twilight’series?

Well, sort of: ‘Eclipse’ is a step upfrom the painfully anaemic ‘NewMoon’, and it’s clearly the work of afilmmaker keen to put his ownstamp on the series. But Slade is constrained at every turn bythe sheer, crushing lifelessness of author Stephenie Meyer’smaterial.

‘Eclipse’ barely advances the story at all: we’re still stuck in thetown of Forks, where moody heroine Bella (Kristen Stewart) isforced to choose between undead love-of-her-life Edward(Robert Pattinson) and musclebound werewolf Jacob (TaylorLautner). There are lots of other characters – silly names aredropped with dizzying regularity – but none of them actuallyseem to do very much.

Slade directs with flair: his action sequences, though small inscale, have real drive, and a series of surprisingly grim Civil Warflashbacks enable him to utilise a different visual palette fromthe usual drab greens and greys.

But he can’t disguise the massive flaws inherent in thescreenplay: the slipshod plotting, whiny, self-serious tone andexcruciating abstinence-first subplot. The biggest problemremains the characters: neither Slade nor Stewart are capable ofturning manipulative whinger Bella into anything more than ajoyless black hole sucking the life from every scene, while theonly performer capable of giving her part any spark, AnnaKendrick, is completely sidelined this time around. Strictly forTwihards.

Approaching Poole from Holes Bay the red signsof Pramacare stand out on one of the offices.

But what goes on there? The words CareCentre over a balcony give a clue.

Care Centre Manager Pauline Sharp explains;“Pramacare is a local home care charity, established in

1982 by Dr Chris Moran, who saw patients discharged fromhospital care, even though there was no support for them at

home. He was so passionate about helping these people that herallied others and a charity was formed. 28 years on, we’re continuing

to do just that, providing over 2500 hours of care to local people each week, all co-ordinated from these Poole offices.”

Pramacare’s services range from helping people get washed and dressed to supportwith shopping. They also provide a home toenail cutting service to more than 1400people.Training is a vital part of providing these professional services and alongside the busyCare Centre office is a Training Room.

Pramacare’s Training Manager Claire Dominey adds; “Each Care Attendant completesthree days of induction training before they start their caring work. They alsoundertake ongoing training throughout their career with the charity; regular updateson medication and first aid for example. We provide this training for other careagencies too.”

Dorset has the highest proportion of people over retirement age inthe country, this means that we have an increased need forcare provision and the finances to support it. So,Pramacare also raises funds to help subsidise the costof care for individuals who are on reduced incomesand receive its care services.

Next time you pass the red Pramacare signs on theHoles Bay Road take a moment to think about the carebeing delivered by this local charity.

Last seen at the Poole Lighthouse, TheMantovani Orchestra have become more polished than ever with their unique sound andwonderful production of many orchestral classics, most of which Mantovani himself made popular.I saw them this time at the Pavilion in Bournemouth.

As Mantovani lived in Bournemouth since retiring, it wasn’t a surprise to see the that the concertwas a sell-out with myself taking the last empty seat.

For the first time in years, I felt quite young as the average age of the audience must have beenaround 70 which proved that Mantovani music was their era.

Having run mobile discotheques for over 25 years, many of my ‘oldies nights’ featured the vinylalbums and singles of Mantovani music which included Cara Mia, Lonely Ballerina, Diane,Charmaine and so many more … this is how I remembered the Mantovani Orchestra so, to beable to see a live concert of his music was a great experience for me.

Annunzio Paulo Mantovani was a world renownedconductor, composer and arranger who from the early1950s to the late 1970s presented the world’s mostfamous light orchestra, featuring his unforgettablecascading strings devised by composer and arrangerRonald Binge.

His album sales rivalled those of Sinatra, Elvis and the Beatles.

Current executive producer Paul Barrett is probably the biggest ever Mantovani fanatic, his lovefor the music brought about the current line-up of musicians that perform authentic soundingcovers of Mantovani music … so perfect to the original in fact that, when a simultaneous video ofthe original Mantovani orchestra was projected onto a large screen from the back of the stage, itwas perfectly synchronised with the live orchestra. This was breathtaking where even EdStewart, the evening’s compare, commented on it. I’m wondering how many in the audienceappreciated just how amazing this was.

Even music that wasn’t made famous by Mantovani was played the way that only The MantovaniOrchestra could play it, like the James Bond Theme with spine tingling twanging guitar and, lateron, Goldfinger with trumpet playing of the highest order.

I had to smile when watching Paul Barrett running around trying to get to each percussioninstrument in time for his part. Even on slow numbers, he’d be seen hurrying along from thetambourine to the glockenspiel to tap a few notes and then rush back to the cymbal for anotherbrush as he looked sharply up to the conductor to ensure all timing was correct. Paul must bethe fittest man in the land to perform what must be the job of several musicians single handedly,so to speak.

The current line up of musicians even had an original member from the Mantovani TV orchestraplaying, which attracted great applause when it was announced by Ed ‘Stewpot’ Stewart, whocompared brilliantly throughout the show. His ad-libs and little jokes entertained between thenumbers with the audience appreciating every little anecdote, story and quip … Ed was theperfect man for the job where he is so clear and concise when announcing music.

The Mantovani Orchestra

As a bonus, there was some music played on the organ with pipes ranging from two inches forhigh notes and up to 32 feet for the thundering bass notes. The organist played Phantom of theopera for us, which made the hair on the back of your neck stand on end (you know, thatamazing intro, wow!). Earlier in show he played a medley of those ‘old time sing-a-long’ songsthat the audience all joined in with … it was like being at Blackpool back in the good old days formost of them, I’m sure.

Overall, true Mantovani fans could not be disappointed with the show, it was perfect. The soundquality was superb and the stage layout, complete with digital monitor displaying live imagesthroughout the show together with cuts to original footage from Mantovani concerts, was anexperience I’ll not forget.

The concerts are very rare with, I believe just two or three at Poole over the last few years andthe one during April in Bournemouth. If you do want to experience this show, get a ticket assoon as you can once another date is advertised or you’ll be caught in the sell-out rush. Theconcert is special to see live where the Poole Lighthouse event is available on DVD (DVDMM1/09)and CD.

Full marks and a ‘must-see’ if you enjoy Mantovani’s unique sound or you just want to hear theclassics played to perfection in the way that only The Mantovani Orchestra can do it, what asound.

Beth is a local 14 year old schoolgirl. Here's Beth's view on schoolteachers and exams.

If anyone else has any comments that come under 'The Youth OfToday', then please do write in as well.

Over to Beth;

Let's talk about school (or how much we hate it!) but I'm not just saying that, I have my reasons,it's so boring! Break/Lunch is the best bit, and that's over so fast!

And, my teachers treat me like a child. Yeah, sure, I'll spend a whole R.E. lesson pretending to bea wizard, but who doesn't love Harry Potter? The teachers, that's who!

Don't get me wrong, I respect my teachers for what they do, but I start to lose all respect forthem when they tell you off for the smallest reason… I'm happy to be told to be quiet if I'mtalking, but being told off for something you're not even doing, that makes me angry.

Yes, okay, I'm talking about teachers in general. I used to have the best teacher, who was prettygood, but he would tell you stories and jokes, they often started of with "The other day, Iwent for a walk with my dog…" But sadly, he doesn't teach years 10/11/12 so I won't have himagain.

Another thing, exams. I hate them. Sure, if you ask me the night before the exam whether I wasnervous or not, I'd say yes. But I think that's just everyone's negative Facebook status' bringingme down (I haven't done ANY revision for the maths exam!!!!! I'm gunna fail!).

But as I walk into the exam, I realise that if I don't do very well, then I can bring the grade upwith my other papers or just retake it.

As for the whole 'Exams are getting easier' thing, I definitely agree! Lets take my maths GCSE,one multiple choice paper makes up 20% of my grade - now that seems quite easy to me… Butas people say, you still have to know the answers, although one of my friends thought drawing a'maths ninja' on the last question would help her get the mark… pretty good idea (don't try this athome!!)

Come back soon :)Bethxx

Q. I’m going on holidaysoon and though I like tosunbathe I don’t like thesun on my face. How do Istop my face looking pale

without using foundation, especially in the evening?

A. Use a self tan that is formulated for the face & applydaily, some even come with an SPF (sun protection factor). But do top up withyour own, as often the SPF isn’t high enough. In the evening use a tintedmoisturiser to give a more even tone. Finish with a dusting of bronzer in theareas the sun would naturally catch the most, down the centre of your nose, across your cheekbones & forehead, even across your collar bones. Somebronzers have a touch of gold in them which can look really flattering. Just don’toverdo it.

Q. Should I colour my hair before I go away or when I get back?

A. Tricky. You naturally want your hair to look its best when you are away, butsun & chlorine will play havoc with your colour. Then again who wants to goaway with re-growth & wishey washey colour? So I say have it done before buttake plenty of good quality hair preparations with you. An anti chlorineshampoo, a deep conditioning treatment, a leave-in conditioner that you couldtop up during the day & a hat to keep the U.V from fading your hair.

Q. What are your tips for looking good on holiday with minimum effort?

A. Preparation! Have your hairy bits professionally waxed then no areas will bemissed & you won’t have to spend time on holls shaving or using messy creams, neither of which are good when you have been in the sun.

Have your eyelashes permed & tinted then finish off with a waterproof eyelinerpencil, such as Styli-Style, (available at Marc Young) that you can wear whenswimming with no worries of smudging or budging.  Get a salon spray tan, youcould do it yourself but most people rarely get it even or cover everywhere. Thisway you can sit by the pool on your first day without looking like the newarrival. But don’t forget to apply plenty of sun cream, you may look brown buthave no protection from the sun. I love the all day suntan lotions such as P20,it’s waterproof, sweat proof with no reapplication necessary for the rest of theday.

Have your hair cut & tidied so that half way through your holiday it doesn’tsuddenly lose shape -  hate when that happens!Co-ordinate your clothes so you can mix & match day or night.

Well the bridge has the go ahead and soon Poole will have it’s own iconicimage.

The chimneys went some time ago and we have a large site to develop where thepower station once stood. But what are our ‘leaders’ planning to put there?

Something to encourage people to visit Poole & help our local economy? No.

Somewhere offering much needed entertainment foryoungsters? No. You guessed it yet more housing to add to theever increasing number of flats and houses that go up fasterthan you can say over crowding!

I have said it before but will say it again POOLE NEEDS MOREDECENT RETAIL. For it is fast becoming no more than a hugehousing estate. Is that what you want? Our authorities need to

know that their silo thinking regarding housing is not what is needed right now.

Apparently ‘they’ are looking to increase school places by 7,000 in the Poole area. How many children will there be per class then? Do you want your children in overcrowded classrooms with teachers that can hardly cope already? On top of that therewill be  an increase of, at the very least, another 7,000 more people. Where are theygoing to work? How will the hospital cope? What about the general medical facilities? It takes me long enough now to get a doctor or hospital appointment  as it is. Thenthere are other amenities such as water, electric, sewage.

The list is endless, as will be the demand.

Would it not be better to build something that will bring in revenue and create localemployment like an outlet shopping mall?

I have it on good authority that developers have the money and enthusiasm to do itbut for some reason the people who make those decisions locally won’t give them thegreen light.

Some of you are probably saying we have enough retail in Poole, but specialist retailsuch as designer and popular brand outlets are always, if done correctly, hugelysuccessful.

No offence to Portsmouth but how many people would gothere if not for Gunwharf Quays? That shopping area hasturned the place into a thriving, attractive, up market place toshop, eat and live.

Why can’t WE have the same in Poole?

Salt Water Cockle

Viva Poole Bits ‘n’ BobsElves & Fairies Woodland Nursery -Wimborne’s Outside Kindergarten

At Elves and Fairies Woodland Nursery finding time to experience nature is highpriority. Many children are out of touch with the natural world as their livesmainly take place inside, surrounded by modern technology.

During our sessions the children go for woodland walks and picnics, jump in puddles, chasebutterflies and clamber over fallen branches, make sand castles, mud pies and imaginativepotions, smell flowers, rain and damp leaves, listen to bird song, the cracking of ice andthe wind in the trees. They grow vegetables and flowers and learn camp fire skills wheretheir food is cooked. They feel at one with nature, enjoying themselves in all but the mostinclement weather.

As well as the very active outdoor life that the children have they also have a rich creativelife, painting, singing, dancing, story telling, sewing, baking bread etc. We are primarily anoutdoor Kindergarten, similar to those very popular in Scandinavia. We believe that thecloser to nature the children are the more they will gain from their education and byallowing them to play imaginatively and creatively in a safe, secure environment we canhelp them to grow into confident, independent young adults with positive self-esteem.
