Vocess is a modish new publication celebrating trendsetters in fashion, art, and music. Vocess was founded in 2007 by Xavier Orellana and since then has developed into a very much needed publication that supports local creative talent. Vocess was designed to be a collectable; something that readers could refer to even several months after publishing. Developing this publication concept invol-ved two years of research and carefully choosing mate-rial that would inspire readers. This publication is the Bay area’s only portal to the entire creative community featuring behind the scene coverage as well as tips and tricks from the experts. The magazine displays the creative process and inspirational views straight from the artists.
The name Vocess, meaning “voice”, was chosen to repre-sent the expressions of all the featured talent that gives our city so much flavor. Featured talent includes fashion desig-ners, artists, musicians, actors and more. Vocess Magazine is a free publication, distributed bi-monthly with hundreds of high visibility distribution locations within the tri-county.
Vocess introduces a whole new concept to print publica-tions. After each issue released readers will have the oppor-tunity to attend a grand event showcasing the latest desig-ner collections, a live performance from our featured band, and extraordinary photographer displays.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the fea-tured talent as well as everyone who has been supportive along the way. Here at Vocess we encourage you to be heard. Send us your insight, creative ideas, and photos to [email protected]

Welcome to
“ Reach youR goals, you have the oppoRtunity,
the only one that can peRfoRm it, is yourself ”
Taking into account the great city of New York and not setting aside Miami as a major power when it comes to fashion in the United States: taking out all these taboos that differ with ours. We can say our city, Tampa has many similarities. Howe-ver, we are unique and we should be proud to have sunny beaches, beautiful women (from all countries), amazing fashion designers, artists, and musicians. Each year local universities put more emphasis on the current fashion to be updated and give students the tools to be a good designer and able to compete with the great masters. The idea of this new magazine is to promote new designers, artists, and musicians and give them the support they need to succeed. Each day there are more talented individuals who need guidance; Vocess was created for those who hope for the chance, one day to show their talent. These creators inspire us with styles, unique designs, and beats that help us survive each day. Since the beginning, Dona and I have put forth a lot of effort and sacrifice to give readers this magazine. Through the creation of Vocess Maga-zine, we have met a lot of talented people such as, photographers, models, stylists,
I would like to dedicate this magazine to my little brother, my puppy, Cokito in heaven, (probably wagging his tail, saying “I LOVE YOU”) and my friends Milton (Jefferson University) and Beatriz (CEM College) whose departure is the beginning of a new life and as I have always said
you never cease to exist, because the memories of our loved ones live in our hearts.

artists, designers, and musicians and we have also crossed paths with people who tried to destroy our dreams. We would like to thank god and all those who have supported us, for helping us fight and continue on the path of victory.
“VOCESS” is your voice!. Let our pages speak about your talent and inspire others to be creators. Each issue Vocess will have a big Event showcasing all of our featured talent LIVE!. I would like to welcome everyone to view this new magazine. And most of all I would like to thank god, for showing me the path, to my parents and brother for giving me tips and a desire to fight, and especially my wife (Digna Orellana), that despite our distance she has given me the strength to achieve my goals, and finally thanks to all who have contributed in the making of Vocess.
Welcome to
FASHION DESIGNER
The vivid and in your face Florida based designer,Tia Gugliotta started chan-ging the way women dressed as an unordi-nary fasion design student in the mid-90’s. She surpassed Florida’s media and buyers with her then label “Trashin Fashion”. Tia’s designs had a startling effect, that as a freshman her designs were already on TV, movies, music videos and magazines.
Also as a student she started to build structure of skills from costume designing and wardrobe coordination for stars such as Marilyn Manson, Shania Twain, Janet Jack-son, Backstreet Boys, Stars on Ice and many more..also she has toured with cher and cindy lauper. also works as a fashion stylist on her own designs and lifestyle shoots for film and print. Tia has had eye popping stage theatrics for many delicious and distinctive fashion shows that astonished the masses and even herself. Tia’s design concept is a conviction of unimaginable ideas and struc-ture. She seperates herself with her craft.
As a hands on designer that does her own art by means of Patteren making, draping and sewing. Her designs are extraordinary rare, that they graze the minds of any man or woman that sees, the woman who wears these designs feels her purpose, the pupose to be unique The ambience of one’s self with the exclusive and sexy lines of Tia Gugliotta’s designs and her effertless forte to make one’s eye say... yum!”

Cece Bythewood, a Tampa Native has been admiring shoes for as long as she can remember. Upon graduation from the University of Florida with a degree in Marketing she set her sights on a career in Retail Marketing/Management. Long work hours and undesirable holiday schedules dampened the shoe retail glamour. Corporate America quickly became a more lucrative option, although she still longed for the creativity and freedom that a career in fashion can often afford. Thus, the shoe design bug had offi-cially bitten. As a stepping-stone to the Shoe Design Field, Cece took a slight detour and opened a Full Service Salon. “Cece’s Hair Party” was featured on ESPN and CNN Sports in 1999 as the Hot test Spot for haircuts for Professional Athletes in the Tampa Bay Area.
The success in this area gave Cece the courage to step out into the glorious abyss of Shoe Design. Several years later, following full-time motherhood, it was time to give Shoe Design the “old college try”. Cece attended and audited a high fashion cobbler’s class at the Moda Shoe Institute located in Vipitino, Italy. Upon completion, she began shopping her originals in January of 2007, officially launching her first designs through Sergio Zelcer and Dans Sara shoe manufactur ers. This has been an excellent genesis for Cece and she is currently working on her 2009 originals to be done in

Interviewer: Why do you like to be a model? Ramsel Aguilar: Because is a way of expressing yourself with fashion, art, beauty, culture, etc, and you can meet famous designers and learn from them, i also feel that the more i involve my self with modeling the more i learn to take care of myself as drinks lots of water have my 8 hours of sleep be healthy etc that enriches my persona innmy exterior and enricheses it in my interior aswell of life motivation to rich my goals. also being a model i can express myself to other women out there who may think they cannot be models for the way they look etc i think everywomen is beautiful and there is always place for everyone with different shapes, differents cultures etc in fact i think that model ing is what is all about.
how many years have you worked as a model?at what age did you start? I have been doing modeling for about 2 years and basically all my childhood and teenagehood i did lots of prints tv comerctials since the age of 5
What advice would you give to others who are starting modeling and want to receive job offers? First of all be confident and be full of po-sitivisim, because they can feel you how full of energy you are and never think you cannot do modeling be cause of your looks or any other reason, modeling is what is all about different looks, difirrent shapes, etc and i belive there is always place for prepare for any obstacle may cross in you way, always it is important to find guidence with the yourself

this country with lots of dreams and is here for many reasons and a purpose that no one would let me stop to achive my goals.
how has your family influence your life? They are the reason why i am doing what im doing, specially my dad he was a tv procucer, art director and graphic designer so during my childhood he had me and my brothers doing lots of work and prints and tv commer- tials also he would always direct us and explaind us every single aspect in how to do media for example he would tell us all the tricks behind the sence etc.. that i growp seeing my dad an ex-ample in the media and gave the a
good impression in anything related with tv fashion etc that now relates to me.
If you had the opporunity to full fill a dream for your country at this moment why would it be and why?
To be part of a well known mag-azine as a model, coordi-nator and to have my own tv
produc-tion company with my brothers that are also involve with media and produce a tv production company in my home country.
“Beauty has to have a purposenot just to show your body as an elemet”
What is your favorite fashion magazine?I more than one cosmopolitan, vanidades, vogue, seventeen magazine, elle and any fashion local magazion yes i love fashion.
What is your brand or designers clothes?Miss sixty, zara, mango, armani exchange, guess, victorias secret, jlo clothing line, diesel, and a full list of hispanic local designers in miami, fl high brand names:dolce and cabbana, roberto cavalli, dior, moschino, giorgio armani.
What is your big dream? My biggest dream is to have my own clo-thing line, my own fashion magazine and my tv production company that i can produce ,direct fashion events, and still be a model at no matter what age i get
Is it hard to be model? did you work hard to be where you are?I will say it not easy ‘cause requi-ers lots of discipline, reliabilty and you need to be able to study in what your field in the model-ing world it is going to be for you besides there might be many people out there who may be against it and you need be able to face it and keep on going andyes i did i think for every model to be where they are has been wor-ked hard enough because it is non stop job and every day it is a new start in anything that your do with modeling also go-ing to casting, do-ing photoshoots etc requiers lots of time
What has workd well known brands?Kodak, Pepsi, Cocolla , Paulmitchell, local de-signers.If you had the opportunity to promote you country wich will you emphazies and why?In fashion because there is a demand on american fashion designers, all we hear is about european designers etc.. so i think that will be a good target because we have treame-andous talented designers in ame-rica and along with models we have lots of different mixes in america that have created a beautifull combination of different types of model that ar not neces-sary like the ones the look on a high fashion magazine. How do find the role of a women in your country at this moment? Some one who emigrate

Building a strong core section is an importan part of any exercise routine. Having a lean toned middle section doesn’t just look great it also helps give you better posture, and redu-ces back pain. Many lower back injuries occur due to weak abdominals, conducting proper core strength training can gelp prevent such injuries. However, you will need to do more than just abdominal exercises to develop a well toned, strong mid section. Follow these three steps for a sexy toned mid section. Cardio vascular exercises are essential when achieving your goals. Abdominal exercises will build and tone your muscles; however what’s the point if they are covered by a layer of fat? First, evaluate your body type and mid section.
If you are unsure of how much body fat you have, visit a local fitness trainer to calculate it for you. If you are at an unhealthy weight then cardio should be your main priority.
“Make sure to do at least 30 - 45 minutes
4 days a week“
Cardio can be done many ways, running, jogging, biking, jump rope, stair master, kick boxing etc. Mix it up doing different cardio exercises each day will keep you from getting bored and keep you motivated.
Nutrition is also a vital element in reaching your fitness goals. If you are doing cardio and abdominal exercises, then pigging out on unhealthy foods, let’s just say you probably won’t reach your goals. If you are taking in more calories than you’re burning, you won’t lose any weight. Remember diets are temporary; eating healthy should not be temporary it should be a way of life. Think about what you know about food.
What are some healthy foods? The healthiest foods are natural foods, such as fruits and vegetables. Meats should be cut lean and have no skin. Portion size is also important. Eating 5 small meals throughout the day instead of 3 big meals will speed up your metabolism, and it will also help prevent you from eating unhealthy foods. When you are overly hungry you are more likely to eat something that doesn’t take time to prepare such as fast food or a snack. Training your abs is different for everyone, whether you want a thinner mid section, toned abs, or a full blown six-pack. Assess your goals. Once you determine your goals, you can choose the abdominal work out that’s best for you. The most effective way to achieve your goals is to use weights. Many people believe they need to do several reps when training their abs. Abdominals are mus-cles just like biceps, and you wouldn’t do 30 reps when training your biceps. So remember train your abs the same way you train other muscles. If you

Exercises that you can do at home
Chunches:Start lying down with your legs straight up in the air and cross your feet. Hold a small dumbbell 5-20lbs over your head, or place under your chin. Now slightly bring your head, neck, and shoulders slightly off the ground. Make sure to concentrate on using your abdominal muscles, as you come up you should feel tightness and when you go down the tightness should decrease.
oblique Chunch:Lying on your back with your feet on the floor and knees bent, Place your left hand over your left ear. Roll your upper body up to the right until your left elbow touches your right knee. Concentrate on tensing the sides of your waist and holding contraction through out the movement. After completing a full set of reps on the left side, switch to your right side and do the same thing.
dumbell Side Bend:This exercise is to work your obliques, it also helps shape your waist line. Stand up straight with your feet shoulder width apart.Hold a dumbbell in your left hand; make sure your palms are facing inward toward your body. Place your right hand on your head so that you are touching your left that you are touching your left ear. While keeping your back straight bend to the left as far as you can, and then bend to the right. After finishing your set a reps, change the weight to the other hand and repeat.
“Medicine and Swiss balls are also great tools to use when creating strong sexy abs!”
Remember if you are unsure on how to perform a specific exercise, first first try reading the instructions or looking at pictures to help guide you. If you are still not sure, ask a professional for help. For your safety, consult a physician before attempting these exercises or any physical fitness program.

band name:Traci: I came up with the name when the band started back in 2006. The band
is named after the Greek Goddess of the Underworld, Persephone, or Kore. We pronounce our band KORE like an apple core. I wanted something strong but still feminine. I think it represents our band well.
lyrics & music:Traci: I have written the majority of the lyrics so far, although Susan has writ-
ten a song, and Jax has contributed to the lyrics as well. We all write the music together.
genre:We’ve been told that we’re alternative pop. We’ve also been told we have a
Pretenders feel.
The sound of Kore is energizing!
uniting:Traci: Well, Susan and I were in a band together for about a
year. After several line up changes, things weren’t working out, Susan and I decided to stick together and started a duo. We played as a duo for a while but missed the whole ‘band’ expe-rience so we started looking for a female drummer.
inspiration:Traci: Our musical influences are as different as our clothing
styles. I love The Doors, Susan is a huge Van Halen fan, and Jax is a big Beatles fan. I think that’s what gives us such a unique sound, because we all have different influences and we each bring a part of that to our writing.
My husband inspired me to sing. He is my biggest fan and pushed me to follow my dreams in music. A lot of the songs that I write are inspired by personal experiences but are vague enough that anyone can relate to them.
Jax: People who have strength in the face of adversity...and keep smiling.

achievements:
We’ve been fortunate enough to have our songs played on several radio shows, have our music
video on cable, participate in some great shows and get an endorsement with Daisy Rock Guitars!
Jax: I’ve had some interesting and pretty terrific experiences in different aspects of my life-- none of
which, I would trade for the world--but by far my greatest achievement is my son.
favorite song:
Susan: “Split Personalities”, that song has a good groove.
Jax: “Just Go”, because we did it together.
Traci: I would have to say, “You Confuse Me” because it has received the most attention lately. The
music video for that song is on cable, and has been played on the radio as well.
in five years…
Traci: It’s so hard to say where we could be in 5 years. I just want to continue to play music, and
have fun doing it! Playing on stage at Warped Tour would be awesome also.
Jax: The best of friends. Everything else is icing.

FEATURED ACTOR
A star was born on June 9th, 1985 in the US city named for royalty, Queens, New York. Arthur L. Braddy. I born in Queens but subsequently raised in Long Island was destined for creati-ve expression. Catching the bug for
the craft in 2nd grade when the local news came to his elementary school and chose a few students randomly to interview, Arthur, selected as one of the few chosen, went home to view the airing of his debut and was instantly bitten after actually seeing himself on the small screen. His desire was so overwhel-ming that he knew that he had to do some-thing to continue to fulfill this new-found cra-ving. As a result, he set a career goal steered
Arthur L. Braddy IIItowards performing arts which he believed would encompass every aspect of his new-found aspirations. His passion for this art form grew and continued to materialize during his first performance at the Uniondale High School in Uniondale, New York. Arthur’s sophomore year he played the role of Frank in “Dream Girls”. Ner-vous and filled with butterflies, he rea-lized further that “Wow, this is actually what I love to do and I want to con-tinue working in this arena”. Braddy was amazed that it was deemed by everyone as a great performance and that the audience response was pure
elation. Yet, he continued to yearn because he didn’t get the lead role which made him work harder and harder. Consequently, the next year he obtained the role of the main cha-racter in the show. By senior year he would play the role of Seymour in the musical “Little Shop of Horrors. The show ran for 4 nights in a row and he obtained a standing ovation every night for his performance. This expe-rience remains a memorable one and a source of inspiration for his career obstacles. Other sources of inspira-tion and admiration come from actors like Will Smith. Braddy truly has been impressed with the way Smith came fresh into the industry from another genre of entertainment worked hard, tapped into his innate talent, took the craft seriously, and blossomed into excellence as a performer and film star. In addition to Smith, Idris Elba is another actor that presently provides inspiration for Arthur sim-ply because of his poten-tial, versatility, and marke-tability. Currently, Arthur L. Braddy III resides in Kissim-mee, Florida and has been practicing within the indus-try for over six years. He does not prescri-be to any supers-titions before a performance only the act of
entering into prayer. As an actor he appeals to all audiences and feels that his innate talent, his educated skill, personable demeanor, affinity for the craft, and willingness to make a change in the world view about diversity, distances himself as a performer. Arthur belie-ves that his marquee role as an actor would be headlining with a very talented supporting cast in a film that allows him to express a range of his acting skill and that would perpetuate an array of feelings from
the audience

DJ FRESH
At the end of 1999, Doug Hensel was working in the Clubhouse and as a Bat Boy for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. A Major Lea-gue Baseball Team which formed in 1998 in his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida. After taking an internship the following Summer in Atlanta to work for TBS and the Atlanta Bra-ves, Doug returned home to find out that a new radio station had taken to the airwaves. This station was WLLD WiLD 98.7 FM. He realized it would not be easy to simply apply for employment to the station since there was a huge waiting list for the promotions departments Street Team.
He found a way in through the research and development department. There, he was hired into the station and began working on conducting radio music surveys and fin-ding out what music certain demographics of people listened to. After his shift was over at 11:00 p.m. he would wander down the hallway and peak into the studio to listen to the radio stations DJ at the time. After only working a couple months in the R & D Department, it was decided that it would be more valuable having him as a contributing on-air personality on the 7 p.m. - midnight show and a member of the promotions Street Team . From then, each Friday night Doug would make his way to Ybor City in Tampa to the hottest Nightclub destination in town, The Pleasuredome. This is where Doug met the most well known and talented DJ and his mentor, DJ Xtreme. All it took was for Doug to ask, “Can you teach me how to play music like that?” Two months later; he had dubbed him “DJ Fresh” and he was playing music to open the club every Fri-day and Saturday night.
A few years and several clubs later, DJ Fresh grew tired of the late nights, low pay, fights and all the unpleasant aspects of the night-club business. His family had convinced him he could be a lot more successful if he ope-ned his own mobile DJ service, entertaining at corporate functions and events such as birth-days, school dances, and weddings. DJ Fresh found realized that this is what he was meant to do and would be able to adapt in order to entertain any type of crowd. The DJ Fresh

reputation rapidly grew as so did his business. So much in fact that he never actually had to advertise, busi-ness grew by word of mouth. Each event provided new referrals and his client base continued to grow.
Years later in 2005, DJ Fresh Events started to really fine tune the business where he hosted and / or organized parties, fundraisers, and other events: an upscale New Years Eve party at the Bellagio Ristorante in downtown St. Petersburg; a St. Patrick’s Day bash at Ferg’s Sports Bar, where “the wearin’ of the green” gave entree to the party, and a fire-breathing leprechaun pas-sed out lucky gold coins and beads at midnight; during the St. Petersburg Grand Prix races in April, he planned the private celebrity VIP party for Citilife Magazine on the fifteenth floor of the downtown Hilton Hotel, where guests had an incredible panoramic view of the races. After Hurricane Katrina, DJ Fresh Events planned a fundraising event at another local venue called the The Rare Olive, with all donations going to the American Red Cross. He also had Tiffany & Company Tampa location match his contribution since he had been working there for the last 2 years as a sales associate and had a great relationship with the manage-ment. His annual Halloween Events continue to draw 400 to over 1000 people each year and his annual Black and White Birthday Event is where you will rub elbows with energetic party people and celebrities alike.
In 2008, DJ Fresh Events has beco-me the Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Team DJ providing entertainment during
and after the games as well as hosting private events for the players. DJ Fresh has also hos-ted celebrity events and after parties for Rihanna, Chris Brown, Pitbull, The Roots, The Sugar Hill Gang, Clipse and even a wedding for Indy Race Car Dri-ver Dan Wheldon. DJ Fresh no longer refers to himself as a DJ, but mainly as an entertai-ner. His record selec-tion, personality, mixed with his energy is what makes him so popular to everyone he comes in contact with.

How much text should I add in my designs?
When we begin to create any kind of design or a campaign for a new product, the question that we always have is, do we fill with sentences or images? It depends entirely on the concept. This kind of observation should be left to a professional
designer, who has experience creating successful campaigns. Often companies hire inexperienced graphic designers, who may be cheaper but lack the experience and knowledge of an effective campaign, which could cost you valuable time and money. Today, there are several useful tools to pro-
mote your brand in a direct and effective way.
That depends on your means of communica-tion. Remember that you do not necessarily need a lot of text, to get your message across. I call it “the attentional”, you have to be very clear in your text. Readers often become bored or overwhel-
med with exaggerated text. The first 5 seconds is the most valuable, keep it simple.
Most importantly choose a good agency and learn about the creative director that will be
responsible for the success of your brand. Hiring an untrained designer can result in a poor product and a waste of your time. Often there may be seve-ral bra nds of the same product on the market; the agency is responsible for conducting a thorough investigation of these similar products in order to ensure a campaign that is unique and desirable to
consumers. It’s worth it, invest a little more and hire a company with credibility that you can trust.

I am a self taught Digital Artist and mother of 2 beautiful children, it has been determi-
ned that the younger of the two has Autism with ADHD, every day is a new adventure.
I have always been a bit artistic starting from a very early age. I started in Adobe Pho-
toshop 7 and Paint Shop Pro 8 doing signatures & graphics for characters in popular
online games (EQ & others) in the summer of ‘03. I have tried my hand at Poser, Bryce,
and Vue (all 3D programs), Pixel Doll making, web design, .gif Animation, Fractal soft-
ware, Corel Painter, and Photoshop CS3, as well as many “traditional mediums” such as
drawing, design, painting, 3d design, ceramics, and photography.
Prior to working with digital art I completed 2 years of my BA in Fine Arts at St. Peters-
burg College in Florida… I studied in drawing, 3D Design, and Ceramics. Although I am
not currently enrolled in any classes I do want to finish a degree in graphic arts. In July
of 2007 I joined the “Community Relations Team” at www.deviantART.com as one of
the Digital Art Gallery Moderators, and after 2 great years of volunteering I have taken
off the hat and resigned at my position. Susan’s art has been in several magazines
such as ImagineFX (3xs) and the cover of Fantasy Magazine; she also did a few cd
covers, the major one being a band named Roy Seven, signed by Universal Records
in Ireland.

FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER

One particular inspiration is my father. I truly enjoyed watching him take pictures of family and friends, all the late evenings with the diope machine looking at slides on the wall. Through seeing other peoples work, I understood that photography was all about a personal prospective and showing what was interesting to that person at that specific time. The picture could be blurry or out of focus, but what doesn’t make sense to one person, could mean the world to someone else.
As a family, we moved away from my home coun-try, Italy, to England where I spent 8 years of my life. After 8 years of gorgeous countryside, the hills, the never ending fields of green and the rain, my parents decided to move once again, but this time to a warm and sunny place. So off to the South of France we went, to a town called Valbonne. I was met by the smell of lavender and olive trees. Inspirational pla-ce for Picasso, understandably so, considering the surroundings. This wasn’t my inspiration, but more the influence of my parents work in the fashion industry which gave me an understanding and appreciation
for composition, style and the arts. That lasted only a short while, about 4 years. As an older teenager, I moved to Canada where I was truly taken by the architecture and weather. I was determined to pick up the camera and start enjoying myself with the knowledge I had acquired so far in my life. This landed me my first gallery show in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where an arti-cle in the Montreal Gazette described the work as “Emotional and passionate”
Shortly after, I was invited to do a show back home in Italy, in a gallery located in Torino. It is a city rich in art and history, and is a major Italian and European center for architecture, car manufacture, literature, cuisine, design, medicine, law and phi-losophy. An article in the national news-paper, La Stampa, referred to me as “A young emerging artist showing true talent and discipline in his work.”
I look forward to continue showing great work to the rest of the world and making a name for myself here in the USA. I am eager to do more fashion work and apply the same passion and dedication in the fashion industry. Having had the opportu-nity to work with young fashion artists and small clothing lines, I simply hope to con-tinue inspiring and giving something back to this great place”.
VISION:“i was born in savona, italy on the 10th of
august 1984 and the real story of my pho-tographic interest doesn’t start from a pro-found moment in time, but throughout the
course of several moments in my life.”
