Voices

From the Lutheran Retirement Home

Thank you to the Worth County Fair for another great year. The residents at LRH enjoyed all the animals and exhibits. Also, thank you to Signature's for making the delicious pies for our residents to enjoy at the fair.

From the Administrator’s Desk, Change is an inevitable part of life. We see it every day. When the changes are small, we barely

think about it. When the change is significant, we reflect on the way things were and take note on what

made those things special.

On June 28th Activity Director Kathy Hanson will be retiring after 39 years of employment at LRH

On July 31st Activity Assistant Lois Meyer will be retiring after 22 years of employment at LRH.

Needless to say this is a significant change for our Activity Department! Both Kathy and Lois

are prime examples of what it means to be an employee at LRH. Both ladies have shown dedication,

compassion, and grace to our residents and communities. As co-workers, we are better people for being

privileged to work with both of these wonderful ladies! We are grateful for their service and wish them

a long and joyful retirement.

Cassie Davis will be our new Activity Director effective June 29th. Cassie comes to LRH with

activity experience from another area nursing home. We are excited to see what the next chapter of the

LRH Activity Department has in store for our residents!

Have a safe summer!

Scott Halbach

From the Director of Nursing The beautiful weather has arrived and along with that comes National Nurses Week and National Nursing Assistants Week. This is the perfect time of year for us to recognize our outstanding employees here at LRH. Please take the time to show your appreciation and give thanks to these individuals. If it weren't for this kind, caring group of staff we would not be the wonderful facility we are. Notice of Grievance Policy

The purpose of the LRH Grievance Policy is to resolve resident and family concerns in a

quick and efficient manner so that the highest quality services can be offered.

A grievance can be brought to any department head, charge nurse, the Administrator or the

Grievance Official/Social Service Designee. These concerns can be mad orally or in writing.

The designated Grievance Official is our Social Service Designee, Patti Brekken.

She can be reached by phone 641-324-1712, by email [email protected], by mail at

701 9th St. N. Northwood, Iowa 50459 or in person.

If you wish to be anonymous a hot line has been established 1-855-402-6116 facility code

Northwood113.

A review of the complaint will be completed and a written response provided. Every effort

will be made to reach an agreeable resolution within 72 hours of the receipt of the formal

grievance.

Our ultimate goal is to make the resident comfortable and provide the highest practical quality

of healthcare services. We will work diligently to correct any concerns because we want

things to be done well.

We work closely with the following state organizations:

Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals

510 E. 12th, Suite 2 Lucas State Office Building

Des Moines, IA, 50319 321 E. 12th
