Are emotions a product of society, we scan the face to

realise how someone is feeling. People with

asburger’s don’t recognize the expressions

that can be easily understood by us.

To us a barcode is almost impossible to understand

without the right tools.

The VOID is a place for people to learn and

appreciate the difficulty someone with as asburger’s syndrome might have when

trying to understand how another person is feeling.

When we meat people we make a judgement about

them and from their facial expression, tone of voice

and body language can tell whether they are happy,

angry, sad etc. and respond accordingly.

People with asburger’s can find it harder to scan the

signals that most of us take for granted.

Each one of these barcodes are different, they say the emotion that is written underneath each code. They were generated using a barcode generator. They are what the viewer will scan at the end of the exhibition to find out what emotion they have chosen.

Here is an image to show what the packaging looks like when it has been applied to the can. People will spend time walking through the exhibition and try to guess the emotion on the can. The Canned Emotion theme is ab it of fun to get people involved it the process of trying to understand what it is the person on the can is feeling, as a person with Asburger’s would with another person.

This is the Void if you were looking at it from the right or left side, because the Void is contained within a bigger gallery space it allows for the viewer to also walk round it, to add to their curiosity. This side is almost like a supermarket advertisement encouraging people to enter.

Refer to Void Map for layout.
