CyanMagentaYellowBlack Vol. 2 Issue 3 SEPTEMBER 2018 KOLKATA 14 Techno International Batanagar Festivals The change in air, smell of new clothes, delectable cuisines, conversations - some of which are loud while some are low, loud laughters, subtle tears - the festive season is a mixture of thousands of emotions and millions of memories... this is how I see festivals. With Ganesh Chaturthi starting the festive season and Durga Puja arriving, I couldn't think of a better topic than festivals. It's that time when the usually diversified states of India unite to celebrate the spirit of the great almighty. Diva Sharma CSE 2nd Year Promises aren’t meant to be broken November, 1971. "I have to go, Arohi. I can’t back off when they need me most. I promised that I’ll be there with them through thick and thin situation, and promises aren’t meant to be broken,” Aman tries persuading. “I know! All I’m asking for is just a day so that we can celebrate our anniversary together”, she pleads with tears floating in her eyes. “Next year we will, I promise!”Aman, the admiral of Indian navy, answers her with a starry smile, gentle kissing her forehead. A year passed. It's their third anniversary. A table for two has been booked. She adorns a red saree and the golden heart shaped pendant Aman had gifted her as a token of love. She colours her lips, lines her eyes, applies blush on her cheeks, and before stepping out of the room, scrutinises herself in the mirror. “Perfect!” she exclaims and heads towards to inform her mother. But her mother slaps her and says, “You aren’t going to anywhere!" her mother orders. “He’s waiting for me at Tonico Café,” she musters up the courage. “He’s dead! War has rendered you a widow! How many times do you want me to repeat this?” Her mother shakes her by her shoulders in an attempt to bring her out of utopia. Arohi frees herself from her mother’s grip. “You know nothing, Mom. He had promised to celebrate our anniversary together, and promises aren’t meant to be broken,” she revolts, heading towards the new car key, bought for Aman as anniversary present. Sayan Chakraborty ECE 2nd Year Celebration of Akshay Urja Diwas The Institute observed Akshay Urja Diwas on 20thAugust, 2018 in order to sensitize the young generation about renewable resources of energy and various scientific innovations achieved in this field. The theme of the event wasEnergy conserved is life preserved. The day was inaugurated by Dr. Swati Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Ananda Mohan College. She delivered a speech on Renewable Energy. To popularize the concept, a Poster Making Competition was organized in the Institute campus in which students across all domains participated with full zeal. Students made colourful and beautiful posters depicting various themes such as ‘Maximize the use of Solar Energy’, ‘Save Energy’, ‘Conserve Energy’, ‘Renewable Sources of Energy and innovations’. They highlighted the theme beautifully through mind-boggling slogans and posters. A presentation competition on Renewable Energy attracted young participant. The winners were awarded by the Principal and HODs after the competitions. Launch of College Magazine Workshops & Seminars In a one-day seminar on “Operational Hazards of Power system” a lecture was delivered by Parthapratim Biswas, MD of New Town Electricity Supply Company Ltd. The key feature of programme is to discuss the various factors of hazards in power system used to assess risk. In a one-day seminar on “Upgradation of software skills of Electrical Engineer” lecture was delivered by Habibur Rahman, Director, Expro Lab Infotech ltd. and Deepayan Pal, Trainer, Sikharthy Educational Services. This seminar mainly dealt with the development of various types of app based on android software. One-day Workshop on “Application of Staad Pro” was organised by Civil Engineering department in collaboration with Ardent Collaboration, Kolkata. The key feature of this programme is to make students acquainted about Staad Pro i.e. Structural Analysis and Designing Program. This Software is mainly used for civil Engineering design and work in three dimensionally. Industry Visit One-day Industrial visit to “WBSETCL 220 kV SS, Howrah” was organised by Electrical Engineering department. The key feature of this visit was to make students familiar about load scheduling and monitoring of power flow from state electricity load dispatch centre. One-day Industrial visit to Eveready Plant, Taratala was organised by Electrical & Mechanical Engineering department in association with CII. The key feature of this visit was to make students familiar about dry cell and wet cell batteries for storage of energy and its future prospects. The key feature of this visit was to make students familiar about networking and satellite communication. The institution has wonderful infrastructure absolutely suitable and efficient for the new talents and upcoming designers. Techno ArtsAcre School of Design and Media offers two courses – B.Sc. in Fashion Design & Management and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Interior Designing (affiliated to MAKAUT). The institute promises to be a centre of excellence for futuristic design practice. The World Is My Canvas “Protteker moddhe ekta gopon srijonshilota thake,” – as aptly stated by chief guest and eminent artist Suvaprasanna, every student has a hidden talent. Teachers strive to shape their dreams, talents and goals by guiding them at every step. An exhibition of paintings by the newly admitted students of Sister Nivedita University was held at the university lobby on September 5, 2018. The artworks by the students of SNU portray variant, deep expressions and myriad colours from the labyrinth of their minds. The event commenced with a song performance by the students accompanied by interesting insights on career and growth by teachers and eminent guests. The cultural program was followed by a glamour hunt contest.
