Potentate’s MessageGreetings Nobles and Ladies:It continues to be “The Most Wonderful Time of the

Year” at the Tripoli Shrine Center. The past month hasbeen amazing. Following our Divan Ladies Fashion Show,we celebrated “All Faith Night” under the leadership ofPast Potentate Ron Hurst and our Chaplain, JohnBennethum. Our thanks to PMWM Robert Hegerty forsinging the National Anthem and God Bless America andproviding the 23rd Psalm in Hebrew for our Jewishbrethren. Ill. And Reverend Karl Schimpf, 33°, GrandPrior for the Supreme Council, Northern MasonicJurisdiction, provided a message of hope and inclusion forall. Quoting from Karl’s message, “Several years ago, during an interview between Matt Lauer of the TodayShow and Dan Brown, author of the Divinci Code, Lauerasked Dan, ‘Why did you give the Masons such a centralplace in your writing?’ Without missing a beat, Dananswered, ‘Because the Masons are the only group I knowthat can have Christians, Jews and Muslims sit down at thesame table and talk together in ways that can bring hope toour time!’” His comment caused me to recognize howcentral that answer is to our life as Masons; where thethree world religions coming from Abraham and Mosesunited in the Hebrew Bible; Jesus of Nazareth and Paul in

the Christian New Testament;and the Prophet Mohammed inthe Islamic Holy Book, theKoran; join together as afraternity committed to makingthe world a better place.” It wasa great evening to share ourmutual values with our friends from the Knights ofColumbus.

The Honored Ladies luncheon provided an opportunityto thank our Ladies, especially our widows, for theircommitment to Tripoli. Our special thanks to Frank andGloria Glowinski for providing bingo and the gifts for theladies.

Our DeMolay Unit sponsored the Honorary DeMolayDegree the next day with 29 Master Masons receiving theHonorary DeMolay Degree in a public ceremonywitnessed by the ladies, family and friends. DeMolayExecutive Officer, J. Patrick Storrs, and a number ofDeMolay officers portrayed the degree in outstanding formand the DeMolay chapters received $2,900 for their futureendeavors.
