February 2014 National Chevy AssociationTM 1

Hi from Nat’l. Chevy, I hope the New Year is bringing you what it is supposed to bring. Here we are receiving the coldest winter I can remember and I’m not what they call a “Spring Chicken” any more. It hasn’t been snowing much but actual temperatures have been 25 degrees below zero, with below zero highs for the day. It seems like it is cold everywhere. I had three guys out on one day because their cars wouldn’t start. Normally I’m not on the phone much (thanks to the guys doing such a good job) but I was on the phone all day and actually enjoyed talking to some of the fine people we do business with. Tomorrow Paul and I begin our trek to the Pomona Car Show and I can’t wait to get to someplace that’s not -9° like it is here today. After a while it seems like you never feel warm. The catalog is about done – I’m hoping we can print approximately March 1 if all goes well. I hope you can send some car pictures and stories. They are needed for the newsletter. Thanks to those of you who recently sent me some. Have to go ... I have work to do before I leave. ‘Til next time......

Hello National Chevy Assoc. You keep saying you need more pictures for the club newsletter. Here are a few pictures of my 1953 BelAir 2-door Hardtop. The pictures do not do the paint justice. The color is metallic green over cream green. The car is very solid. The doors, hood and trunk lid opens and closes good as new. The interior looks to be original. I have the original owners manual and jack. It has a 350 small block engine with a 3-speed auto transmission. It also has an Edelbrock carb. I have a Mustang II front suspension system with power steering, power disc brakes, new cross member, new shocks, springs and all other parts. But not yet

installed. All this was bought from Southern Rod & Parts in Greer, S.C. I also have a new rear suspension, springs, shocks, etc. New front and rear sway bars, all bought from Chassis Engineering in West Branch, IA. Not yet installed. It is reported to me that David Pearson once owned this car. He did sign the dash and glove box door, “David Pearson #21” - see the picture on the front cover. You are probably asking, “why is all this new stuff not installed yet?” I had a man that wanted to do the work but he came down with cancer and is unable to work any more. I personally don’t have the knowledge to do it, plus I am getting old and feeble. After being in the operating room six times for my back I am not able to do the work. I have a 93-year-old mama in the nursing home that takes most of my free time. My wife and I just don’t have the time to get out and enjoy this car. We have only been to one cruise-in this year, “2013.” I’ll tell you this, it sure turns heads everywhere we go. Yes I will sell this nice car. I am going to ask $25,000, with a little bit of wiggle room. I

guess I need to run an ad in “Cars for Sale” in the classifieds section of the newsletter. I am sure you must know several members that would enjoy owning this car. Maybe send some pictures on the internet to some of your friends that may be looking for a nice ‘53. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. You can call me about this car or possibly running an ad, even a full page ad, any time.
