VOL 29MAY - JUNE 2012 BI MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
We have always been conscious of quality and
this is a philosophy that we have breathed into
every department. We are honoured to announce
that in May 2012, ERLPhase successfully passed
an ISO 9001:2008 Recertification Audit, valid for
another 3 year term. An independent certification
body confirmed that ERLPhase meets all quality
system management requirements under
ISO 9001:2008. The audit included a review of
processes throughout the business from
management responsibility, to purchasing
/subcontractor control, to inspection and testing.
The feedback has been very positive and has been
possible through the co-operation and commitment
of the entire team. The management system was
found to be fully effective (no nonconformities
issued). We are happy that the auditors were
especially impressed with implementation of the
Balanced Score Card system for evaluation and
self-evaluation of individual job performance.
They also were pleased that QMS documents
actively reviewed and revised as processes
evolved. They identified few opportunities for
improvement, which will be followed up on
actively, in keeping the culture of continuous
improvement at ERLPhase.

by the auditors are customer focus, commitment

ERL obtains Power Grid Corporation’s approval
for C&R Panels
ERL now enjoys the statues of an approved vendor
for the supply of Control & Relay Panels and Relays
(Electromechanical/Static/Numerical) to
Powergrid projects. The mandatory requirement is
to get the approval Manufacturing Quality Plan
(MQP) renewed once in three years. This is
essential to participate in tenders of Powergrid
projects and to raise customer inspection calls
also.
We are happy to share that we have recently
obtained the approval of revised MQP valid till
May-2015 to suit the current
requirements of the customer.
This will improve our business
prospects as we can participate
in Powergrid projects that have
C&R Panel requirements.
Moreover, this approval
facilitates participating in tenders other than
Powergrid and is also a mark of a Quality
business approach. We are presently working on
renewal of MQP for RTU – Remote Terminal Unit.

this has been the mark of our capability to deliver

ERL salutes ESAM as it
celebrates a decade of serviceERL has had a presence in Manitoba, Canada
dating to many years and has become a part of the
energy community there. We have been part of
The Energy Services Alliance of Manitoba
(ESAM), an association of companies and
organizations collaborating to increase the
collective knowledge and success in providing
power and energy expertise for projects
internationally. Our relationship with ESAM goes
way back and it has been a great source of
inspiration and support.
In May, ESAM celebrated a decade of mentoring
success by supporting its members to pursue
international energy projects. This includes export
to more than 70 countries around the world,
including products and services dedicated to
development and use of sustainable sources of
energy. We congratulate them on their
achievement and wish them all success in every
endeavour.
ESAM has been a facilitator in expanding the
business boundaries for its members through its
initiatives. It has created a forum for Manitoba
companies to pool their expertise to pursue larger
and more complex international projects. This has
many benefits like increased employment at high
level engineering and project management
positions, and broadening of Manitoba's
international reputation as a center of excellence
in the energy sector.
ERL in the spotlight at IEEE PES T&D
Conference in Orlando, Florida
The IEEE PES T&D Conference is a prestigious
biennial event that happens in May and attracts
the largest North American gathering of T&D
professionals. We found that it was the perfect
choice to highlight our product lines and build a
powerful presence
ERL booth had excellent visibility and was a
wonderful opportunity for our customers and
partners from across North America to interact
and discover about how our products fit with future
power system developments being planned.
René Midence, Business Manager for Protection
Products presented an Info Session called “Tools to
Uncover Sub-Harmonics on Your Power System”.
We also conducted a highly productive meeting
with our network of sales representative covering
the Americas.
What made us really happy was that we had
better traffic compared to other years, partially
due to the strong show attendance and partially
due to our excellent location. Visitors showed a
great deal of interest in the TESLA power system
recorder and S-PRO sub-harmonic protection
relay. Our booth was very busy including visits
from ERLMint customers in Indonesia and Thailand
besides North American customers who visited us
many times and even brought many coworkers at
a time. The F-PRO units were displayed in the
booth and discussed with visitors. In all, it was a
very fruitful event.
