Assembly Review
Our class would love to tell you all about our assembly item. We have been practising a dance called
the Continental Drift for five weeks and we were excited to present it to the whole school. Everyone
was included in our film and with a lot of help from Mr McLean, we created an awesome movie for
the school to enjoy. We practised nearly every day and we hope everyone enjoyed our assembly item
as much as we did.

Student Safety
We would like to remind all parents and
guardians to slow down in our car parks and be
careful of children crossing in car parks and
across roads.
Now winter is around, the car park is becoming
very busy, please slow down and watch out for the
safety of children. Parents also need to make
sure children are being supervised when crossing
the road.
Assembly
Well done to the Year 6 students from Room 22 on
a super assembly last Friday. What super
dancers and film makers you all are! Well done to
Mr Pooley and Mrs Johnson too.
Next Fridays assembly will be hosted by the
students of Room 26. The school looks forward to
all family and friends attending.

Can YOU help? Yakamia PS is creating a unique play experience for our students using scrap materials. It is
designed to help students use their creativity and explore their imagination.
How can you help? Well it is simple; provide us with your unwanted items.
We are after donations of the following items:
tarps, overalls, safety helmets, big pieces of fabric, off cuts of carpets or mats, barrels,
wheels, crates, fishing nets or large nets, PVC pipe, bins and lids, walking frames, bits of foam e.g. pool noodles,
tubes
Please contact the school office (9841 7533) if you can help!
Disabled Parking Bay
Please respect the use of the disabled car parking bays in the school car parks. Please
leave them for use by families at our school, who need them. It becomes very difficult for
them if they have to find alternate parking. We appreciate your support in this matter.

A Message from NASHS
School Nurse
Move More, Sit Less
How much sitting is too much?
Even if children are very physically active, they will still benefit from limiting the amount of time
that they spend sitting or lying down (except when sleeping) in as many ways as possible.
Use of electronic media for entertainment should be limited to no less than 2 hours per day.
Parents can
Give gifts like skipping ropes, balls or kites to encourage active play
Set a no screen time rule at dinner time and before school
Make your childs bedroom a TV and computer free zone
Reward your children with a trip to the park, instead of TV or computer time
There are many opportunities to sit in our daily lives. The key is to find opportunities to move.
What will you do?
Modified from Does your child get 60 minutes of physical activity every day?

Honour Certificates: Mr KosovichLibrary for helping with the Bookfair
Yakamia Library Bookfair Report
Wow! What a fantastic result.
Our School community; students, mums, dads, grandparents, guardians and
teachers spent a total of $4300.00 on books at the recent Yakamia Library Book-
fair.
From this amount our School Library received approximately $750.00 in cash.
This money is already being allocated to book titles nominated by our students.
The first book request was for the Mighty Robots Series by Dav Pilkey, thank you
Tyler.
Thank you all from your School Library.
To our incredibly hardworking Yakamia Bookfair Helpers:
This year we had Mrs Liz Childs, and her two children, plus a wonderful group of Year 6 students,
all of which have received honour certificates. We do appreciate all your hard work. A special thank
you to Mrs Sandilands, who worked tirelessly over the five days of the Bookfair.
Once again thank you all very much.
See you at the next Bookfair.

BE ON TIME to collect your child at the end of their session
COME IN TO COLLECT your child from the Hall (they cant meet you in the car park)
EXIT BY THE GATE near the dentist (you have to walk through the hall to the outside)
ONLY YPS Students to attend. Other children wanting to come will need to register their name
with the front admin prior to the Disco.
VOLUNTEERING
It will be necessary for there to be enough parent volunteers to help supervise the Junior and
Disco. Once again, this is a prerequisite. We require volunteers for the Canteen, Ticket Sales and
General Supervision (inside, outside and toilets)
OTHER INFORMATION
The cost of tickets will be $5.00/child and available for purchase at the school admin in the
weeks leading up to the disco. Councillors may also sell tickets in the Hall before school
Drinks, Snacks and a Sausage Sizzle will be available for purchase on the night
Parents will be called and asked to come and pick up their child if their child goes outside of the
fenced areas
