Vol. IX Issue No: 05 May- 2019 A monthly publication by New Horizonites www.newhorizonindia.edu NHC GRADUATION DAY e Cultural Committee of the College, under the supervision of Ms. Greeshma Francis (HOD B Com) organised a Graduation Day for the batch of 2019 in the Main Auditorium of the College. e event was attended by the Principal, Dr Bodhisatvan, the HODs of the B Com, BBA and BCA departments and all the faculty and students of the college. e programme began with an invocation dance, followed by the lighting of the lamp, and the felicitation of the Chief Guest. Dr. Prashanth (Dean of Academics) was invited as Chief Guest and gave an inspiring speech to the graduating students reminding them of the value of presentation, punctuality and self-discipline. e Principal too addressed the gathering of students reminding them for the last time of their responsibilities in the future as outgoing New Horizonites. Some students were given a chance to voice their feelings of joy at graduating and their gratitude to their families and teachers who had made this a possibility. A distribution of certificates and prize money to students who had excelled at the academic examinations followed, to resounding applause from the gathering. e Literary Club of the college took the opportunity to launch the College Magazine. A distribution of certificates and prize money to students who had excelled at the academic examinations followed, to resounding applause from the gathering. e sports achievements of the students were also applauded and the Principal and Mr. Ratheesh Johnson, (P Education instructor) presented trophies to the winning Football and rowball teams of the college, among others. is was followed by a moving Oath Taking Ceremony by the new student Co-ordinators of the college, amidst a symbolic lighting of candles and the Principal reading out the Oath. e ceremony drew to a close with the singing of the National Anthem by all the faculty and students of the college.

29/04/2019 to 03/05/2019 Benefi ciary:Prof. Shobha, Prof. Swathi B, Prof. Kavitha, Prof. Vikas B O Faculty Members of the Department of Information Science and Engineering attended 5 days workshop on VMWare vSphere 6.7 at East Point College of Engineering, Bengaluru. Training Program covered VMware vSphere concepts such as ESXi host characteristics, Installing OS on host, storage properties, about vSphere solutions such as High Availability, fault tolerance, DRS and updating VM’s with hands on labs.

In order to hone the programming skills of the IV semester and to enhance the employability skills and readiness of the VI

semester, CSE dept, in association with Computer Society of India, organized a mini project competition today (02-May-19). Experts from industry were invited to evaluate nearly 45 projects. They have given very good feedback about the projects. Certifi cates were distributed to best projects.� e following were the jury members:

Transition from 4G to 5G technology event was organized by Department of Information Science & Engineering as

an initiative of i-SCRUM club on 3rd May 2019. Around 40 participants from various department of New Horizon College of Engineering enrolled to the event who actively participated in the program. The event started with a warm welcome followed by welcoming guest Mr. Ramar Balakrishnan with a sapling. The main event started with an interactive session between the guest and the participants, where they were given a brief introduction about the evolution from 1G to 5G technology. As the session progressed, he explained about advantages and applications of 5G, he also explained us about the challenges we are currently facing.Finally, the event successfully ended with the certifi cate distribution to the best participants, participants sharing their experiences and views about the sessions and a formal vote of thanks.

Mahesh Dattani Play PerformedAn Memorandum Of Understanding was signed between

the Department of Master of Computer Applications, New Horizon College of Engineering and Skyfi Education Labs Pvt. Ltd. It was signed on the 4th of April 2019. Skyfi labs will help the MCA Department as a training partner of NHCE by conducting training programmes for faculty and students.

Mr Vishwa, Manager Retail at P N Rao an Alumnus addressed 2nd & 4th Sem MBA students on the challenges and

opportunities in the retail sector. The session was organized on 4th may 2019 at MBA seminar hall at 11 am.

New Horizon College, Marathalli organised a Valedictory Function on 22nd May 2019 to mark the winding up of all

cultural and extra-curricular activities for the academic year 2018-2019, before the commencement of the Annual Examinations conducted by the University. The ceremony appreciated and collectively acknowleged the contribution of all the co-ordinators and student achievers of the college for the academic year 2018-2019, through a distribution of certifi cates.

The B Com students of the college put together a wonderful performance of the play ‘Where There is a Will’ by Mahesh

Dattani. Performed on the 17th of May 2019 at the Falconry Hall, NHCE, the enactment was a testimony to the enthusiasm and involvement of the students, both as cast and crew. They directed, scripted and performed it, under the guidance of Ms. Selvarani Paulraj and Ms. Alpa Thoudam, English faculty at the college. Each character performance stood out, revealing the personal confl icts that accumulated through the fi rst act only to be diff used in the second act of the play. The performance played to a packed house and ended to resounding applause as all faculty and students of the college gathered together to watch and appreciate the performance.

The Girls Throwball team represented the college at the Bangalore North University Intercollegiate Throwball Tournament held at Government Women's College, Kolar on 6th May 2019 and did us proud by bringing home winning the tournament and bring home the trophy for securing the fi rst position.
