Governor of the Volgograd region

Biography

He was born October 14, 1969 in the city of Barnaul, Altai territory. In 1987 he graduated from the Suvorov Military School in Moscow, in 1991 he graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School, in 2002 he graduated from the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation in the specialty "Public and Municipal Administration".

Military service

From 1991 to 2004 he served in the army in leadership positions in the Russian airborne forces. Retired colonel. In 1996, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, he was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation for his personal courage and heroism.

Political activities From 2005 to 2007 - Deputy Governor of the Bryansk Region, Head of the Permanent Representation of the Admin-istration of the Bryansk Region under the Government of the Russian Federation. In 2007-2012 - Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the fifth and sixth convocation. In 2012, he resigned as a deputy in connection with his appointment to the post in the presidential administration. In January 2013 he was elect-ed head of the organizing committee for the run-up to the founding congress of the All-Russia People’s Front (ONF). From June 2013 to April 2014 - Head of the executive committee of the All-Russia People’s Front. From 2014 to today - Governor of the Volgograd region.

Unique history The Volgograd region is an area of global

significance in terms of cultural and

historical heritage and natural wealth.

The capital of the region, the hero city

Volgograd, it was founded in 1589 as the

watch fortress Tsaritsyn for protection of

southeast borders of the Russian state. In

1925, it was renamed into Stalingrad and it

went down in history as a symbol of invincibil-

ity and unmatched heroism. And since 1961

the city became known as Volgograd.

The Volgograd region is one of the largest

region of the Southern Federal District. It is located in the great Entre Rios of the Volga and the Don.

The region has favorable geographic location; it is the main gate to the South of Russia providing the further access to

Iran, Iraq, the Caucasus and Kazakhstan.

It borders with the regions of Saratov, Rostov, Astrakhan, Voronezh and the Republic of Kalmykia, as well as with the

Republic of Kazakhstan.

The historical monument of Mamayev Kurgan is a hill on the right bank of the Volga river in the central district of the city of Volgograd, where the most ferocious fighting took place during the battle of Stalingrad, which began in Sep-tember 1942 and ended in January 1943. The Reserve Museum "Old Sarepta" is a unique architec-tural ensemble of a colony of Hernguter of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Tourist objects

Uryupinsk is the capital of the Russian province, which has

become famous thanks to the history of MA. Sholokhov

"The destiny of man". The city is located on the left bank of

the Khoper river.

Elton is the largest saltwater lake in Europe. Its size is 18 to 14 km. In terms of salt and muddy properties, it surpasses most of the world's lakes.

Yelena Isinbaeva Is a Russian female pole vaulter. She is a two-times Olympic gold female medalist and won a bronze medal among women at the 2012 Olympics.

Yelena Slesarenko She is a Russian high jumper. Honored Master of Sports of Russia. Olympic champion in 2004. She won two times the World Indoor Cham-pionships.

Tatyana Lebedeva She is a Russia athlete who competes in both the long jump and triple jump events. Olympic champion in 2004 in the long jump event; multiple world champion, Europe and Russia.

The Volgograd region has a developed agricultural production and is

one of the largest agricultural producers in the Russian Federation.

The area of agricultural land is 8.8 million hectares, including 5.6 mil-

lion hectares of arable land. In terms of agricultural land, the region

ranks third in the country, being second only to the Altai and Orenburg

regions.

The Volgograd region has a high potential of natural resources: hydro-

carbons, chemical and cement raw materials, non-ferrous and rare
