Volume 1, Issue 71 NEWSLETTER October, November, December 2013 ROSARY HILL HOME 9000 WEST 81 ST STREET – JUSTICE, ILLINOIS 60458 708.458.3040 Dear Friends of Rosary Hill, If you watch TV on a daily basis, perhaps in the last couple of weeks or so one of the typical commercials for this time of the year caught your attention. It begins with the bold proclamation, “Winter Brings Family Together.” Upon seeing this rather annoying advertisement, I couldn’t stop thinking that there is something definitely wrong with it. It appears to be yet another twisted “politically correct” message. It caught my attention because it quite arrogantly replaces the word Christmas with the word “winter.” After all, we all remember the old cliché depicting the unique atmosphere of the holy season that over Christian world celebrates at this time of the year. Yes, we know as we knew since ancient time, that it is Christmas - not winter, - that brings family together in a very special and more intense way. With the still ongoing war on Christmas and other Christian values and beliefs it is so comforting to observe families getting together to celebrate more or less consciously and in the more or less religious atmosphere the never fading story of God’s Incarnate Love for the world. It is the Christmas message, not the season of winter, that brings family together. Denying this truth proclaimed and celebrated in the two-thousand-year long tradition is just one more badly designed attack of secular culture on what the vast majority of American people cherish as irreplaceable and precious. In its wicked design, this, and similar messages glaring at us from the TV screen, abuse the word “family” by undermining or diluting its true meaning and purpose. In the Christmas Season, the family with all the relationships it entangles needs to receive due attention, not only wherever working parents with young children are the primary players, but also in places where senior parents find homes that provide proper care for them. Rosary Hill Home for the elderly has been designed and built with the family-oriented attention and concern. For 75 plus years this humble place of care never ceased to provide a truly family-like atmosphere, comfort and loving service. It always was and still is our noble call, our privilege and our joy, to give our residents a genuine taste of a family. In great measure it is achieved with the outstanding support we receive from you, the family members of our residents, and you dear friends and benefactors of Rosary Hill. Your heartfelt concern manifested in so many ways such as phone-calls, valuable suggestions, contributions of time, experience, money, and frequent visits with your loved ones residing here, make Rosary Hill Home a true family home. For all this, on behalf of all of our residents, employees and Sisters, I hurry to say from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. Rosary Hill Home celebrates every Christmas with thoughts, cordial sentiments, and prayers for you because you, (the growing number of you) have become our very dear and extended family. We all hope, pray and wish that this upcoming Christmas may be for you the most joyful celebration of God’s love that prompted Him to wed himself to our humanity and thus bind us together with the ties of a family life. Please feel invited to celebrate Christmas Mass in our chapel on December 25 th at 9:30 a.m. and visit our residents and us Sisters who will deeply enjoy and appreciate every minute of your time given to us. Page 2: Volume 1, Issue 71shine a star sending its gleam of hope to the world.” ~ Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933), American president. Presidential message (December 25, 1927). What is Christmas?

Fromthedesk of our Chaplain The Answer to a Fallen Humanity and Divided Church

In this time of trial Our Blessed Mother invites us to pray with Her for a second Pentecost. With the powerful influence of the Mother of God, we need to hope to see a new earth and a new heaven. Satan wants us to believe that there is no hope for our fallen humanity and divided church. However, God became a man in order to renew the world and prepare a new earth and a new heaven. Our Blessed Mother, the perfect collaborator with Her Son Jesus, encourages us to trust in God’s mercy and love. The presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist throughout the world will triumph over the many evils of our time; Satan will be defeated. Prayer and sacrifice with the Mother of Jesus can bring about a new Pentecost.Let us renew our trust and love of God to completely restore the fallen world and struggling Church.

Father Raymond Jasinski

************************************************************************* Words of Wisdom

To the American People: Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. If we think of these things, there will be born in us a Savior and over us will shine a star sending its gleam of hope to the world.” ~ Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933), American president. Presidential message (December 25, 1927). What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.” ~ Agnes M. Pahro Mankind is a great, an immense family… This is proved by what we feel in our hearts at Christmas.” ~ Pope John XXIII ******************************************************************* Dates to Remember… Sunday, April 6, 2014- the Spring Fundraiser @ the Orland Chateau Please join us for Family Mass, the second Sunday of every month @ 9:30 a.m. (refreshments follow).
