Apartments, a 28 unit, multifamily apartment

complex in Pauls Valley, OK.

Families can rent 1 and 2 bedroom apartments

with central heat and air.

Rental assistance is available

for qualifying applicants.

Call Jennifer at 405-756-1100.

Delta Community Action’s

Weatherization team recently

donated ’Weatherization Works!’

tote bags, complete with program

facts and information, to several

Head Start Centers in the area.

The bags contained information

about Delta's Weatherization

program along with energy saving

tips and information on how to

apply for Weatherization assis-

tance. The reusable tote bags

can also be used as an alterna-

tive to plastic shopping bags.

Using reusable totes at grocery

and discount stores is a popular

way to reduce waste and promote

environmentally friendly habits

that help conserve energy.

Delta's Weatherization Program

weatherizes homes for qualifying

families in Garvin, McClain, and

Stephens Counties. In addition to

insulation, caulking, weather

stripping, and window repair, the

Weatherization program utilizes

cool roofing technologies such as

Energy Star shingles and solar

attic vents to make homes more

energy efficient.

For more information about the

Weatherization Program at Delta

Community Action, please call the

Administrative Offices at (405)

756-1100 or Sherri Snider at

(405) 527-6537.

Bobby Dale is a Foster Grandparent volunteer at Irving

Head Start in Duncan. He is adored by students and

teachers alike. Thank you, Mr. Dale, for being a

positive role model for our children.

The second annual Stuff the Bus Campaign,

sponsored by Delta Public Transit, officially kicked off

Monday, November 21, 2011.

The generous citizens of Garvin county donated over

150 pounds of food along with several coats and

scarves during last year's holiday food and coat

drive. The local transit system hopes to receive even

more donations this year.

Please bring non-perishable food items and new or gently used coats and scarves to:

Delta Public Transit’s dispatch office located at 215 West Paul in Pauls Valley

Delta CAF Administrative Offices at 308 S.W. 2nd in Lindsay

All donations will be used to fill Delta Community Action's Garvin county food

and clothing pantry. Items will be collected until Tuesday, December 20.

Be one of us and ride the bus!

Several Delta staff members had the opportunity to

hear NCAF Executive Director, David Bradley, speak at

the Region VI Community Action Conference.

The annual conference was held this year at Tulsa, OK.

Community Action Agencies from Arkansas, Louisiana,

New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas gather once a year

to promote cooperation among individual Community

Action Agencies in the region.

The First Presbyterian Church of Duncan recently

donated Homeland gift cards to families at

Cornerstone Early Head Start.

Pastor Tracy Evans presented the cards to eight

very excited families before Thanksgiving break.

The donation was a very thoughtful way to help

alleviate some of the financial burden associated

with holiday cooking and meal preparation.

Delta Community Action is thrilled the First

Presbyterian Church thought of our center during

this very special time of year. Their actions made a

wonderful difference in the lives of several local

children.

If you are interested in contributing to any of Delta

Community Action’s programs, please call our

administrative offices at 405-756-1100.

Delta Community Action

Foundation, Inc.

What an amazing year 2011 has been! Our agency, staff, and board of directors have had a very busy and productive year. Delta Community Action is making an impact in the counties we serve by administering more programs than ever before.

Our Senior Nutrition program serves more than 50,000 meals at 32 separate sites each month. Delta's Foster Grandparent Program currently has 75 Foster Grandparents serving more than 350 children at 28 sites. The Head Start/Early Head Start programs are funded to serve 345 children and 64 infants and pregnant women. These figures are just the tip of the iceberg. The Housing and Weatherization programs have helped hundreds of eligible families in our tri-county service area, while Public Transit, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), Rx for Oklahoma, and Emergency Services programs faithfully continue to provide support to citizens in need.

Delta Community Action will continue to serve the people of Garvin, McClain, and

Stephens counties in this time of economic uncertainty. May you have a Merry

Christmas and a Happy New Year!
