The December 2009 issue of California Thoroughbred, the official publication of theCalifornia Thoroughbred Breeders Association (CTBA), is now well into productionand featured as this edition’s cover story is a wrap-up of the 26th renewal of the $25.5Breeders’ Cup World Championships that was held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia onNovember 6 and 7, during this year’s Oak Tree Racing Association meet, and which washighlighted by historic wins by the California-bred duo of Dancing in Silks andCalifornia Flag.

Besides these articles, the latest magazine also includes many other feature stories ofinterest, such as: a review of Cal-bred The Usual Q. T.’s victory in the grade II, $150,000Oak Tree Derby, the last race of the day at Santa Anita on November 7; a farm featureon Lovacres Ranch, Terry Lovingier’s Thoroughbred facility encompassing almost 500acres in Warner Springs that is home to the young stallions Awesome Gambler,Bushwacker, Rivergrade Boy and Time To Get Even and the established sire Rio Verde;a CTBA Member Profile on Ron Jex, the breeder of Dancing in Silks who won the$1,818,000 Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Sprint (grade I) at Santa Anita on November 7;an analysis of those stallions who will be making California their new home for the 2010breeding season, whether they are retiring to stud or are being relocated to the GoldenState; a Focus On The Future piece on Wayne Robison, a young horseman who alreadyboasts a wealth of experience in the Thoroughbred world; a review of the book beingpublished next month that celebrates the 75th anniversary of Santa Anita Park, specif-ically detailing those Cal-breds who have played such a major role in the history of thisfamed venue; our annual Equine Gift Guide, spotlighting the horse-related books thatthat will make the perfect present for the holiday season; a Down on the Farm articletitled “MRI—Aid To Diagnosis In Foot Problems”; a Guest Forum column titled “TheFuture Is In Your Hands” which explores what needs to be done to ensure that print pub-lications don’t become a thing of the past; as well as all the many other interesting andinformative features, departments and columns that our loyal readers look forward toevery month.

Unfortunately, the deadline has now passed for securing valuable advertising space inthe particular copy of California Thoroughbred, the publication that remains the bestmedium for marketing Thoroughbred businesses in the Golden State. So, to ensure yourparticipation in its next edition, the January 2010 issue, please contact the CTBA’sAdvertising Manager Loretta Veiga without further delay at [email protected] or (626)445-7800, extension 227.
