But it's not just the majesty of God's Creation that makes my heart soar every time I read Psalm 8, it is God's faithful trust in humanity to care for his Creation that stirs my soul. The Psalmist writes, "What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet:" (NIV). The Psalmist's words give us pause to consider how God calls us to be "rulers over the works" of his hands. While we might read the poem as an affirmation of humanity's power, it is equally a command to be faithful caretakers of all God has given us to protect. As the trees and bulbs burst forth with blooms and newborn fawns wobble on unsteady legs, we can be grateful that God has entrusted all of creation to our care. Not as consumers, but as committed caretakers. So as Aunt Ethel would say, when life gets hard, get out your Bible and start reading the Psalms, the songs of God's goodness and the privilege we've been given to care for God's GOOD Creation. A NOTE FROM PASTOR GEORGETTE

As a little girl, I hung on every word of my favorite Aunt. Even

though she didn't go to church, she believed in the power of

scripture. I remember the surprise and comfort I felt when Aunt

Ethel told me, when life was hard, she got out her Bible and read the

Psalms. Almost 30 years later, I too fell in love with the Psalms.

The first one I committed to memory was Psalm 8, a creation Psalm.

It begins with the awe of God's good creation..."Lord, our Lord, how

majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the

heavens." (NIV) Every time I fly, that Psalm comes to mind as the plane breaks through

the clouds, the sun illuminates the heavens. But it's not just the majesty of God's

Creation that makes my heart soar every time I read Psalm 8, it is God's faithful trust in

humanity to care for his Creation that stirs my soul. The Psalmist writes, "What is

mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have

made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You

made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their

feet:" (NIV). The Psalmist's words give us pause to consider how God calls us to be

"rulers over the works" of his hands. While we might read the poem as an

affirmation of humanity's power, it is equally a command to be faithful caretakers of all

God has given us to protect. As the trees and bulbs burst forth with blooms and newborn

fawns wobble on unsteady legs, we can be grateful that God has entrusted all of creation

to our care. Not as consumers, but as committed caretakers. So as Aunt Ethel would say,

when life gets hard, get out your Bible and start reading the Psalms, the songs of God's

goodness and the privilege we've been given to care for God's GOOD Creation.

Happy Spring, Beloved!

April 28th at 10 a.m.

Sunday, April 28th is our first of

three "all church" gatherings as we

continue to live faithfully into the "new thing"

God is doing in and among us. We will celebrate

ONE worship service at 10 a.m., followed by

some a time of fellowship and conversation on

some of the ways we are changing our process for

ministry. Changing the process, not the purpose.

Please mark your calendar for ONE 10 a.m.

service on April 28th, followed by a short time

together in the Fellowship Hall.
