Special ORM Thanks to Crest Foods & Santiago’s McDonalds
Cookies were donated to us by Santiago's McDonalds restaurants. Caroline Savage is the offi ce manager there. Her e-mail is [email protected]. It would be nice if we could get the word out and have several of our members e-mail them a nice thank you for the cookies and partici-pating in our event. Our gift certifi cates were donated thanks to Paula at Crest Foods. We gave some away on the Christmas Train as door prizes, and selected a couple of our hard working volunteers as well.

Needed
It is Monday after the Museum Annual Meeting and I want
to thank all of you who got out in the bitt er cold for att end-
ing. We had a good time and had time to relax and visit with
each other. I tried to get around the room and speak to each
of you. Hope I did not miss anyone. Membership cards were
passed out for those who had paid their 2010 dues. If you
have paid and were not there, then we will be gett ing your
card to you soon. If you have not paid your dues then please
renew and volunteer some of your time. We can always use
help.
Four members received awards for 2009; Jim Pasby received one for spending the
most time working at the museum in 2009. He far exceeded the rest of us. Harry
Currie received an award for his brick laying eff orts on the new platform and the
platform at 50th street. He is very good at this if you need some help on your patio.
Gary Githens received an award for his work on the Dispatcher. He has done an
outstanding job putt ing this out each month on a timely basis and with some great
content. The last award was to Gary Moore for his assistance in the acquisition of
the property to the north. He took care of looking after our interests in a timely and
professional manner.
We are in a winter time mode at the museum. Work is continuing on projects that can
be done inside. If you have some time, give Jim Murray a call and see if you can help
him.
The Annual Planning Meeting will be complete in the next week and I will see that all of
you hear what the plans are for 2010 and the next fi ve years.
Stan Hall
A planning meeting was held on Thursday, January 14 at the museum. Approximately 20 members were pres-ent to review, comment on the budget for 2010 and pri-oritize projects for 2010 in addition to development of a new fi ve year plan for the museum. Several sugges-tions were made that led to changes in some area of the budget and operations. It was noted that museum op-erations continue to grow and utility cost are going up especially since we are open at least 20 hours a month and we are doing more work at the museum. The mu-seum annual operating budget is nearing $90,000 on an annual basis with insurance, fuel, mowing, minor repairs.
As with all museums, the needs for funds are greater that what is available. President Hall pointed out that the need for board members overseeing their assigned areas and will need to work with the purchase order sys-tem being put into place to ensure funds are available to cover the expenditures when purchases are made. The goal is to improve the fi nancial information so that next year’s budget will be easier to develop since there will be a clear picture on what areas need additional funds. Projects that the museum will focus on will be the ATSF Caboose, fi nish the primer of one of the Conoco Box Cars, putting the RS3 into operations, completing the repair on the side of the CNW 7721 (Blue Car), re-pair of roof and repaint if funds are available, repaint-ing of structures on the museum grounds, signal instal-lation at NE 36st Street and track work. Of course the normal operations of mowing, clean up and pick up on the grounds, work with the displays and a model train layout at the museum will be on going activities. At the planning meeting it was noted that we had picked up a new docent and there was addition-
al room for more. As always, it’s great to have members out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to show and answer questions our many guest have.
This year we are hopeful that we will have schools partic-ipate in our school trains, but with the budget issues hit-ting schools, we are not sure we will do as well this year as we did last year. That activity was a big help to our 2009 budget. In addition to our school trains, our normal trains on the fi rst and third Saturdays start in April and run to the fi rst weekend in September, then the Thomas trains on the last weekend in September and fi rst weekend in October. A new train this year will be the moving of the third week-end in October train to the last weekend and naming it the Halloween Train will be tried to see how that will work in drawing folks to the museum, since the last Saturday will be Halloween. And the last two events of the year will be the Train Show on the fi rst weekend in December and the Christmas Trains on the third Saturday. Those two De-cember events continue to be strong fund raisers for our museum and help get us fi nancially through the winter. As always, the museum enjoys having members come out and volunteer some time. We hope to see each of you our at the museum during 2010. We are planning on this to be another great year for the Oklahoma Railway Museum. For additional information, contact Stan Hall, President or to work on a project, Jim Murray.

Great Plains Minority Supplier Development Council Names Union Pacifi c 2009 Corpora-tion of the Year
Omaha, Neb., December 22, 2009 – The Great Plains Mi-nority Supplier Development Council has named Union Pacifi c as its 2009 Corporation of the Year.
The award recognizes Union Pacifi c for its many efforts to increase and improve its minority supplier business re-lations as well as assist other companies and their key suppliers to recognize the value of supplier diversity.
Union Pacifi c provides fi nancial support for many of the Great Plains Minority Supplier Development Council (GPMSDC) events and functions, and dedicated employ-ees demonstrate the railroad's commitment to minority business development. In the past year, Union Pacifi c hosted the GPMSDC's second quarter meeting and an interactive business fair at Union Pacifi c Center that at-tracted more than 45 area minority-owned businesses.
LP Custodial LLC was named GPMSDC's Minority Business of the Year for growing its business by 75 per-cent in 2009, which it attributed largely to Union Pacifi c's support. Union Pacifi c co-sponsored Joe Delgado's attendance at the Kellogg School of Management's Advanced Man-agement Education Program in Evanston, Ill. Delgado is president of TCW Construction Inc., as well as Husker Ready Mixed Concrete LLC.
