Canadian Fellowship of Baden-Powell Guilds
Stamp Bank
Submitted by Dennis Kwan Deputy National Guildmaster
Many Cubs Scouts and Scouts collected stamps for their collector badge. Stamp collecting wasa hobby for many and also a valuable investment for others. The Canadian Fellowship ofBaden Powell Guilds established the stamp bank in 2010 to help raise funds to support ourannual scholarship program. As our world goes digital, mailing a letter had become lessefficient and collecting stamps has become a challenge. Although challenging, the stamp bankstill going strong. The scholarship received over $200 from the stamp bank in 2018.
We like to acknowledge the determination and dedication of the works from Jill Steff and the15th Baden Powell Guild from Parksville, BC. They have kept the stamp bank alive. Weappreciate the hard works they have done for the stamp bank, couting and our fellowship.
Please visit the Stamp Bank page at our web site to learn more.http://www.canadianbadenpowellguilds.org/page21.html

Malcom “Mac” MacLean November 14, 2018
On November 14th, 2018, Scouting lost another one of itsgentle giants. Mac MacLean was called home.Mac's hard work and determination characterized thisstrong loving father to Cameron and Sara andhusband/soul mate to Penny. Mac was a humble man - fullof love, strength and encouragement to others. So manyhats, so many titles, so many words we have learned to callMac - teacher, mentor, carpenter, co-worker, brotherScouter and friend. As a youth, Mac worked through the Scout program, fromCubs to Rovers. He became a Troop Scouter, NapaneeValley District President, Rover Advisor, sat on manycommittees for Quinte Region, and was Ontario GuildMaster. Mac was also the Guild Master for the 73rd and99th Guilds. Each position received 110% dedication fromhim.Mac's humility, integrity and hard work continues to inspirethose who knew him, helping to guide us into the future.
His smiling "look" is embedded upon our hearts forever.

In February I joined other Guild members for the China

place near the beginning of the parade! On Thursday

celebrate Baden Powell's birthday, and Les Strike's, and
that evening I was able to go to 4th Squamish Groups
celebration along with David Loop, Iona judged the Kub
Kars and Beaver Buggies at the North Shore Kub Kar
Rally.
Judi, Iona and I served the refreshments at Scout
Trees in North Vancouver on a chilly but sunny April

Squamish Sea to Sky Rally where the Venturers did an
excellent job of running the event. n May 27th Iona
and Ken Hollett helped at Camp Paddletail in North
Vancouver.
On June 2nd Les represented our Guild at the West
Vancouver Community Days. I attended the 4th
Squamish AGM, presentation of awards and Swim Up

of the Venturers had received their Queen's Venturer

Sad news for family and our Group was the loss of long timeScouter/Guild member, Terry Colautti, this springs. He spentmany years as a Leader and member of the Trail Rossland Districtand put lots of time into Scouting.
This past May we sponsored and ran the annual Nite Trek eventsfor the West Kootenay Scouts and Guides. This was held at CampTweedsmuir and had participants from Kaslo, Nelson, Robson,Trail, Beaver Valley, Warfield and Rossland. In all there was 86youth and 35 leaders on site with our members. We had a blastwith activites ranging from crate tower stack, cargo nets, glow stickarchery, atomic bomb carry to name a few. The youth loved it andthe weather held out for a beautiful night in the woods. Managedto get some sponsorship to help keep the costs down and all wenthome with a crest and t-shirt!!
We also sponsor a bursary for the local high school , so we didsome bottle recycling and raised the funds for this and anadditional $2000.00 for Camp Tweedsmuir to help with a "solargrid tie-in system" and repairs to one of the buildings. The solar iscurrently being installed at the camp and hopefully will beoperational withing the next few weeks. The leaders and youthwho use this camp are very exited about the project and the factthat they are going "Green".
During the spring and summer, some of our members have spenthours in repairs and maintenance issues at Camp Tweedsmuir. The improvements are making a hugh difference in the propertyand making it more user friendly and comfortable for users.
Last September a few members volunteered with the United Wayof Trail and District for their annual "Storm the Stairs" event, manning check points and water stations, plans underway to helpout again this year.
