Expanding environmental conservation and education of our three Natural Areas located at Simpson Park, Virginia Key Beach North Point Park, and Alice Wainwright Park and other City of Miami parks through community involvement is a strategic goal the Parks and Recreation Department. Within these parks, we can find unique ecosystem worthy of conservation and preservation. Our current environmental programs involve restoration efforts in order to keep these ecosystems healthy. With your involvement, this critical initiative is possible. Through this service-learning opportunity volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about our unique local habitats and ecosystems as well as identifying various native and non-native invasive plant species. Volunteer opportunities include exotic invasive removal to prevent displacing our native plant species, seed propagation at our very own nursery, planting of trees and beach clean-ups, as well as research and monitoring of plant species. We need your help and invite you to become part of our team.
