Introduction
Volusia County Schools is committed to the continuity of instruction inthe event of an emergency disruption that may result in the suspensionof face-to-face instruction on school campuses. To prepare for anysignificant disruption in classes, Volusia County Schools has developedan Instructional Continuity Plan. The plan in place is prepared todeliver organized, standards-based instruction in both digital and printformats to meet the instructional needs of all students, withcommunication in place to ensure clear expectations for allstakeholders involved.
Students and families can utilize these resources to provide instructionat home until schools are able to open or resume.
For additional updates and information related to Volusia CountySchools including the closure of schools or re-opening of schools,please check the district website: www.vcsedu.org.
This document contains information to help guidestudents, teachers, administrators, and support staff with thenecessary steps to consider in the event of a school closure.

Digital Content Delivery
Students will have access to digitalcontent and instructional materialsthrough VPortal. To streamline access, K-5 resources will be available in Canvasand 6-12 resources will be available inEdgenuity. This document includesdirections for accessing these resources.
Printed Content Delivery
Resources are categorized as "CoreMaterials" or "SupplementalMaterials." Core Materials will be usedas the main instructional resources.
Print materials will be made availablefor students and families that do nothave Internet or technology access.The printed materials and textbookswill be available at the student's schoolstarting March 26th. Please check thedistrict website and communicationsfor pick up times and locations.

For example:
Performing Arts: practice tuba, compare 2 pieces of music, practice sight-reading
Visual Arts: visit a virtual gallery, create art, work on Visual Arts Q4 InstructionalContinuity Plan
Health & Physical Education: warm-up, practice skills, read about nutrition
World Languages: access instructional materials through V-Portal, use onlinepractice resources
CTE: work on your current project, research a career related to your currentcourse or area of study, continue to prepare for industry certification exam
(Teachers may elect to direct their students to complete course-specificassignments.)
Senior students with less than 1 credit in Performing Arts/Practical Arts creditand/or less than 3 elective credits will use the Instructional Continuity Log forNon-Core Classes (see below) to engage in activities that are relevant to each ofthese courses. Core classes along the Performing Arts/Practical Arts, and having atleast 3 elective credits are important benchmarks to ensure on-time graduation.
For senior students working towards an industry certification through your Careerand Technical Education classes, your work will consist of practicing for theindustry certification exam through the specific platform that your teacher assignsto you. This is particularly important if you are expecting to use the industrycertification in lieu of a math or science credit to graduate.
