Why I Am Running:

I believe that education is about transformation, had it not been for educa-tion I do not know where I would be right now. I believe that everyone has

potential. I want to ensure that everyone regardless of who they are or where

they come from are given access to a fair free and equal education that allows

them to achieve their full potential. I absolutely love education. It has taught

me how to believe in myself, but more importantly how to believe in others.

My Experience on Education:

I have been the VP of Edinburghs Telford College SU and Edinburgh

College, during this time I have been successful at preventing the

displacement of hundreds of students. I have also ensured the student associ-

ation was embedded and partnered within the college quality framework and

fought to get anonymous marking introduced a first for Edinburgh College.

I have been fighting against course reductions and as a result have managed

to save many of the courses that were being scrapped. I have also challenged

the cabinet secretary, SFC and Education Scotland on the impacts of

regionalisation and cuts to colleges asking them to rethink their current

strategy.

I have campaigned for English to be free and part of the curriculum for all

speakers of other languages. As an NUS FE committee member I have

campaigned for an independent complaints ombudsman. I opposed unfair

and exploitative traineeships. I have also put policy forward to ensure that

students are at the centre of their own learning.
