She has volunteered at events for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, the Big Event for three years, and is a founding member of the student philanthropy organization, Ichabods Moving Forward. Shelby Herring Nominated by FYE Peer Education Club Shelby has served the community with her work at the Harvesters Food Bank, the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment – Overnight Shelter and coordinated and led the Washburn Alternative Spring break trip to New Orleans, LA. Her involvement at Washburn University includes support staff for the Ichabod Success Institute, FYE Peer Educator, Peer advising for Academic Advising and LinC – Bonner Scholar. Aubrey Miller Nominated by Panhellenic Council Aubrey has served the Washburn community through her leadership in Zeta Tau Alpha and Panhellenic Council serving as president and as the past VP of recruitment. She has volunteered in the community at Ronald McDonald House, Race Against Breast Cancer, Making Strides, and Couture of Cancer to name a few. Aubrey has received honors on both the President and Dean’s honor rolls and her membership in Mortar Board and Psi Chi Honor society. Aubrey is a senior, majoring in Psychology from Topeka, Kansas. Emma Staats Nominated by the Leadership Institute Emma has served the campus community through involvement with the Washburn Leadership Institute, staffing Bods feeding Bods: food and commodities pantry, and working in many departments across campus including Residential Living and New Student Orientation. Emma served her community through the Topeka and Shawnee County Human Trafficking Coalition and Pine Ridge, Topeka Housing Authority. Her honors include membership in Mortar Board, NONOSO, and Phi Kappa Phi. She has received multiple scholarships and honors across campus. Emma is a senior Integrated Studies, major from El Dorado, KS. Isaac Bird Nominated by FYE Peer Education Club Isaac has served the students with his role as senior peer educator with the Club. He has also held memberships in Christian Challenge, Washburn Residential Council and Friends of the Mabee Library. Isaac has served the Topeka community through the Washburn’s Big Event, volunteering as an instructor for High school Art Day, and he consistently volunteers for Mabee Library during Junior/Senior days. He has received honors with membership in Mortar Board honor society, and has appeared on the Dean’s List for six semesters. Isaac is a senior majoring in Art Education, from Topeka, Kansas. Brian Clavijo Nominated by Zeta Tau Alpha Brian has served the Topeka and Norton communities through translation, being bilingual in Spanish and English. He also served on the highway and street clean-up crew and Habitat for Humanity. Brian has served as a student leader on Campus Activities Board and Washburn Student Government Association. He is also working to recruit men for the first Latino fraternity in Washburn’s history. Brian has received honors on both the President’s and Dean’s honor roll. As a first generation student, he has been proud to say that he is succeeding at Washburn and Washburn has helped him succeed. Brian is a junior majoring in Legal Studies, from Norton, Kansas.
