When you receive public assistance, you must be offered the opportunity to register to vote. You are not required to vote to receive assistance from the State of Kansas. You may fill out the voter registration application if: 1. You are a citizen of the United States of America whether by birth or naturalization. A naturalized citizen is a person who was born an alien but has lawfully become a citizen of the United States of America under the U.S. Constitutions and laws. A naturalized citizen has all the rights of a natural born citizen, except is not eligible to be president or vice-president of the United States; and 2. You are a resident of Kansas; and 3. You may not fill out a voter registration application if:1. You are a green card holder. A green card

holder (permanent resident) is someone who has been granted authorization to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis. As proof of that status, U.S. Immigration Services grants a person a permanent resident card, commonly called a “green card;” or

2. You are not a citizen of the United States of America whether by birth or naturalization. A naturalized citizen is a person who was born an alien but has lawfully become a citizen of the United States of America under the U.S. Constitutions and laws. A naturalized citizen has all the rights of a natural born citizen, except is not eligible to be president or vice-president of the United States.
