to extend the visa, they can extend it at Royal Thai Consulate-General Penang, Malaysia (the easiest way), and the volunteers
will get more 30 days to include 1900 Baht for visa fee. Furthermore, if the volunteers want to extend the visa, but less than
30 days, they can apply for a tourist visa at the immigration office.
2. For MLTV who stay more than 2 months, apply for Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (Long Stay)
EMARKSR
• Please contact us immediately if the volunteers need a confirmation letter after coordinate clearly with the sending
organization. VSA Thailand can help the volunteers before they leave their country, but VSA Thailand cannot provide a visa
upon arrival in Thailand. The volunteers need to make arrangement for a visa in their home country before departure date.
The sending organization will usually help the volunteers along with the process.
• If the volunteers have a tourist visa, do not go out of Thailand until your visa date expires because the tourist visa will
finish automatically, and they have to ask for visa again at Thai Consulate abroad.
KNOWLEDGE DIVIDE AND EDUCATION FAILURE IN THAILAND
The pictures of Thailand Education failure on language skill and international knowledge some presented by less number of
Thai who can communicate in English and less basic knowledge on an international level. English subject has been put in the Thai
curriculum since primary school. In some private school started learning since kindergarten level but the wrong methodology of
education learning has been put in Thai society which made graduated students could not communicate in English and/or
interested in international basic knowledge.
Measuring education quality and successfulness learning goals of learner showing 4 key points generated in following
Education Quality
The effective of Thailand education generate into
Teacher passion and quality, in the last 20 years High school graduation who pure intend to continue study to be a teacher
has less than 20%. Most of the high school graduates choose teacher faculty to spare from other faculties that they intend to study
and or teaching faculty is the last choice to study after they could not enter in any faculty. The reason that to be a teacher is not to
motivate people to study are less salary, hard-working (include teaching and school additional tasks). So to be the teacher in Thailand
seem hard work with less compensation and low social value.
Unqualify person studied to be the teacher, we found the result of English teacher could not communicate in English,
teaching English by Thai and never practiced student in English for communication.
Some people did not know their ability which is one of education failure. Learning without knowing what they really are. Some
properly to be the teacher but found themselves in other work fields as the higher social value
The wrong methodology of education, one of the goals of Thai education aims to pass the test than encouraging a love of
wisdom. So the way of learning in classroom focus on the amount of knowledge than understanding in the subject nor understand
the aims of learning. Students who passing test could not even understand what they have been passed to adapted in daily life. This
kind of education created the dream of capitalism wealth than understand own traditional wisdom which is the real social situation
and fundamental to developing.
Education Department policy, teacher working task has been divided more than teaching but including school management
tasks. The teacher needs to work on students quality and statistic report competition with the private school which created the aims
of teaching to high core test than quantity learning.
Nationalism idea and the language barrier, since 1939, Thailand on leading of Plaek Phibunsongkhram, the prime minister
announced about Thai nationalism which is protection for colonization from western. The purpose is for nationalist and Thai solidarity.
One of these formal rules forces Thai resident to speak Thai even they are other nationality in Thailand.
Some of Thai language does not match English sound source such as “the”. To pronounce this sound is kind of unfamiliar
and impolite in the Thai language. As well as final sound which does not appear in Thai words.
Social inequality, social inequality is the key to knowledge opportunity inequality between city and rural area. Students
from the city have more chance to access the educational resources, more education quality, real filed to practice as well as economic
situation. Thus, in the big gap between city and rural make Thailand well developed in the only big city but rural burden makes the
overall of Thailand development slowly and difficult.
Last 50 years, Thailand has huge investments in infrastructure as well as education but in the incorrect way, that is the case
that the facility is quite a convenience in a big city but the knowledge to use and develop technology is less.
All mentions above play the reason why most VSA Thailand projects focusing on Education. Most of VSA partners requested
international volunteers to play teacher role more than labor role. The viewpoint of Thai in a rural area has full respect for foreigners
and afraid to request foreigners working on labor work but prefer more in learning and exchanging tasks.
“VSA 2.0 is the next step to involve the concept development and knowledge sharing and heritage wisdom that is based on the sustainability of the
fundamental factors in daily life; food, accommodation, cloth, and medicine. It is also focusing on self-reliance, prior knowledge adaptability, and sharing
tacit knowledge.
The concept and process of VSA 2.0 realize the importance of identity or man-made because a result of human action is a part of changing many
things in the world.
The aims of International workcamp and voluntary project are increasing relationship of members between the camp and community, sharing
and learning together, and leading to the knowledge management in workcamp and voluntary project. The data collection from assessment during camp
activity proceeds for publishing in several ways of media. Moreover, it can be a benefit to studying in the future.
Sustainable living is based on understanding the different way of life."

MLTV PROJECT
DETAIL
2019
MLTV1901-1 Intercultural and Language (ICL)
– Songkhla
BACKGROUND
MLTV1901-1 Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Songkhla, learning and
sharing the intercultural and language still are the main purpose. The volunteers can
share and learn culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and children
in school. Also, the volunteers will know more about Thailand during working in the
local community
Nowadays, English language as the global language and intercultural
learning are important for local Thai people, especially Thailand as a tourism country.
After the project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for seven years.
The great volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools where they are
in the poor local community. Many local people can improve their English skills through
a group by a group of volunteer, or at least they try to speak the English language more.
They dare to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English.
Moreover, the volunteers have changed the local community. They used to stay lively
and trustily with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt
the ways of life with the new cultures from the volunteers who are like an intercultural
ambassador.
In 2019, the project needs the volunteers, who are the most important of the part, to continue for developing the potential of a local
community that the last volunteers did, to help children in school, and local community still practice the English language, to learn your own
language, and to make them learn more about the different culture. On the other hand, the volunteers also get the opportunity to know local
food, local transportation, local occupation and local culture with living in local habitation in the community. We believe that understanding
several cultures can make the world be peaceful.
WORK
Volunteers are expected to work as English teachers in the primary school. They can prepare their lesson by themselves, but the
teacher at the school can give the advice (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy to speak out).
Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of
volunteer but creative is the one of yours. Aims of creative teaching are giving the chance for students in the school or the place nearby to
have the opportunity to communicate with different language, touch difference culture, and believing.
Teaching Activity is that the volunteer would do the activities base on intercultural and language with the games, songs, storytellings,
and dancings. Also, it should focus on communication; listening and speaking.

BACKGROUND
MLTV1901-3 Intercultural and Language (ICL)
– Krabi
MLTV1901-3 Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Krabi, Ban Sapanpon
School is a small school in Krabi province. It is the primary school where there are 60 -
70 students who study in the school. Even though the school is located in Krabi where
it is the tourist place, it is far from the destination; beach and the sea. Most local people
don’t have a chance to learn about different culture and cannot speak English. It means
the student in the school they don’t have the opportunity as well. This project is a good
opportunity when the volunteer comes and shares the culture and language by doing an
activity with a student in the school. The volunteer can motivate children to dare to speak
English. Furthermore, the volunteer can teach them by your own language and learn the
Thai Language. Learning and sharing the intercultural and language still are the main
purpose. The volunteers can share and learn culture, language, and knowledge with the
local community and children in school. Also, the volunteers will know more about

it is far away from the village to come back to study in this school. On the other hand, the volunteers also get the opportunity to know local
food, local transportation, local occupation and local culture with living in local habitation in the community. We believe that understanding

Teaching the English language by activity; using games, song, storytelling, art or performance to encourage them to communicate
in English. The volunteer should create the game and activity for a student who is 7- 18 years old. We don’t expect the student can learn more
about reading and writing, but we want the volunteer makes them dare to speak English at the beginning.
Agriculture work – The volunteer can learn how to plant the vegetables such as mushroom, morning glory, and another local
vegetable, etc. in the school.

Thaksin University is a public university in Southern Thailand. It is in
Mueang Songkhla District, Songkhla Province. It is about twenty kilometers from Hat

abundant food and cultures.

and Culture theme.
WORK
Education and Culture – The long history of Suvarnabhumi present valuable
identities cultural which is the goal of the project. Learning long-lasting culture by non-
formal education program in both countries.
The Suvarnabhumi project will implement the HAPPY Model
• Help, the volunteer’s main task is to run a project in support of the local community.
Volunteers use their time, energy and competencies to help those most in need, while at
the same time helping themselves to further develop personally and professionally.
• Absorb, the volunteering services will be done in a way to support the learning of
the volunteers at a maximum in various personal and professional competencies. While the process will be supported by
nature process on non-formal education tools (language learning, mentoring).
• Participate, apart from their regular projects (usually service oriented), the volunteers should be engaged in at least one
other action or initiative as a manifestation of their active participation in the life of the local community. The hosting
organization will support the volunteer in this aspect, selecting an action that fits both the needs of the community and the
learning needs of the volunteer.
• Promote, the volunteers that do volunteering services in different places are perceived as ambassadors of global change.
They are expected to promote both the idea of volunteering as an act of active citizenship and the idea of sustainable
global development. This promotion should happen both within the local hosting and the local sending communities,
which is why both the hosting and the sending organizations will be responsible to encourage and support the volunteer's
efforts in this direction.

BACKGROUND OF 2 PROJECTS IN SUVARNABHUMI PROJECT
There are 2 projects that the volunteer needs to work in 2 countries following the program for 2 months; Intercultural and Language
(ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima Project, Thailand, and CYA – Global Education Center Siem Reap Project, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima Project, Thailand
Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, the learning and sharing the intercultural and language still are the main
purpose. The volunteers can share and learn culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and children in school. Also, the
volunteers will know more about Thailand during working in the local community
Nowadays, English language as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people, especially Thailand
as a tourism country. After the project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for seven years. The great volunteers came to
give the opportunity for children in schools where they are in the poor local community. Many local people can improve their English skills
through a group by a group of volunteer, or at least they try to speak the English language more. They dare to face and work with the foreigner
even though they cannot speak English. Moreover, the volunteers have changed the local community. They used to stay lively and trustily
with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with the new cultures from the volunteers who are
like an intercultural ambassador.
They can prepare their lesson by themselves, but the teacher
at the school can give the advice (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy to speak out).
Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of
volunteer but creative is the one of yours. Aims of creative teaching are giving the chance for a student in the school and people in the village
or the place nearby have the opportunity to communicate with different language, touch difference culture, and believing.
Teaching Activity is that the volunteer would do the activities base on intercultural and language with the games, songs, storytellings,
and dancings. Also, it should focus on communication; listening and speaking.
ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD
The volunteer will stay with a local host family.
• Nature environment, basic and simple.
• Mattress, pillow, and fan are provided.
• Thai toilet and bath.
• No food and drinks except water in the sleeping area for your care because some animals such as the mouses,
ants, will come to share your food.
• Please keep clean and tidy.
Volunteers expect to eat Thai food. A local host family will prepare the food for the volunteer.
