1. Security Overview

Please read the following safety precautions carefully to avoid damage to the device. 1) Read carefully and understand the instructions contained in the User Manual before operating the

device. 2) The cables used with the device should be strictly complied with international standard to avoid

accidental injuries caused by its poor quality. 3) Be sure to turn off the battery switch before connecting the DC Inputs. 4) Be sure to turn off the device before connecting the AC Outputs. 5) Do not touch the Input/output cables while the device is operating. 6) Do not move the device while it is working! 7) Do not cover the vents; poor ventilation will cause operation failure. 8) Keep the device surface clean and dry, scattered metallic items are not allowed inside the device. 9) Do not open the device case and touch the internal components until make sure no dangerous high

voltage is available in the capacitors.

10) The earth terminal must be properly grounded ( grounding resistance < 10Ω), the cable should be as

short as possible and with larger diameter.

!

Like above diagram, the PV array generates DC power, through the solar controller to charge the battery and

supply power to the inverter directly. The inverter will convert the DC power into AC power, then through

the low frequency transformer making 120/ 240Vac(or 110V, 120V, 230V, 240V)/50(or 60Hz)

standard AC power. The Inverter employs low frequency output isolation transformer, producing pure sine

wave AC power with stable voltage and frequency and low THD.

The inverter has strong loading capacity and compatibility, a wide range of DC input voltage, can widely be

used in different application environment; and with the full range of protection functions, the inverter

enhances the stability and reliability of system.

User Manual 3. Installation and Operation 3.1.1 Unpacking, Storage and Transport

!

3.2.1 UnpackingThe device has been fully tested before it is dispatched from the factory, but the damage might occur while in transit, so please check whether the device is in good condition

3.2.2 Storage

Place of storage should be selected based on the following considerations:

☉ Select a clean and dry, well-ventilated place.

☉ Ambient Temperature -20 ℃ ~ 50 ℃.

☉ Relative humidity less than 90%, and no condensation.

☉ Far from corrosive gases, liquids.

☉The device should be charged once every six months, to prevent electrolytic capacitors from

problems of dryness.

3.2.3 TransportCrashing, bumping and strong vibration to the device should be avoided. It is strictly prohibited to lean or put the packing box upside down.

3.3 Installation and Application 3.3.1 Wiring

!

Please check the package box for apparent damage, if there is significant deformation, please contact the supplier immediately. Connect the input and output accessories in accordance with the provided instructions. a) Battery: The terminals of battery is connected to the internal inverter at 48vdc using the anderson connectors on the front of the generator, the red cable is connected with "+" terminal, while the black cable is connected with "-" terminal b) PV: The PV input mc4 terminals/connectors are located on the front panel of the generator at 48vdc .MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THE POLARITY RIGHT AND ARE INPUTING THE CORRECT VOLTAGE RANGE (65VDC TO 150VDC) . Also the red cable is connected with "+" terminal of solar panels, meanwhile, the black cable is connected with "-" terminal of solar panels. c) AC Output: the 4 AC output sockets are connected with AC loads

Notes: (1) Make sure the the polarity of solar panels and battery are connected correctly. Incorrect polarity

connection could permanently damage the device! (2) Make sure the Open Circuit Voltage (VOC) of PV is less than Max. DC Input Power! (3) The total loads connected to the device should not be greater than Nominal Capacity! (4) When increasing the loads, please add the larger load firstly, then the smaller load.

3.3.2 Operating Procedure

(1) Connect the PV panels to the device as per provided technical instructions. (2) Turn the main power breaker on according to the input requirement. (3) Press the “ON” button, observe the instructions shown on the display, and make sure the device starts running. (4) Connect the rated loads to AC output sockets, observe the display and check whether the device is working properly. (5) DIP switches

Page 14: VSP14000 RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATOR

- ! -14

User Manual On the front panel of inverter, there are 5 DIP switches which enable users to customize the performance of the generator.

SW1: Low Battery Trip Volt:

SW1 for sealed car battery, this is to prevent batteries from over-discharging while there is only a small load applied on the inverter.

SW2: AC Input Range:

There are different acceptable AC input ranges for different kinds of loads. For some relatively sensitive electronic devices, a narrow input range(SW2=0) is required to protect them. While for some restive loads which work in a wide voltage range, the input AC range can be customized to a wide input range(SW2=1), this helps to power loads without frequent switches to the battery bank. In order to make the inverter accept dirty power from a FUEL POWERED generator, when the SW2 is switched to position“1” , the inverter will bypass an AC input with a wide voltage and frequency(40Hz-70Hz for 50Hz/60Hz). Accordingly, the AC charger will also work in a wide voltage and frequency range generator. But some sensitive loads will suffer from the low quality power. The pros and cons should be clearly realized.

SW3: Power Saver Auto Setting :

In Power Saver Mode, when the SW3 is switched to position“0”, inverter will work in Unit Off Charging mode, it will stay in standby mode without sensing loads. It won’t output any power even if a load is turned on. The inverter will not perform any function and only stay idle in this mode. When a qualified AC input present, it will switch to AC input power to charge the battery and supply the load at the same time. When the SW3 is switched to position“1”, the inverter is initially in standby mode and sends a pulse to detect the presence of a load every 3 seconds. Each pulse lasts for 1s. The inverter will remain in standby

User Manual mode until a load has been detected, then it will wake up from standby mode and start to inverter electricity from the battery bank to supply the load.

SW4: Frequency Switch:

The output frequency of the inverter can be set at either 50Hz(SW4=0) or 60Hz(SW4=1).

SW5: Solar Mode/AC Mode Priority:

When the SW5 is switched to position“0”, the inverter is in Utility Priority. This means, utility will power the load and the battery will also be charged by utility. Only when the AC power is unavailable, the inverter will transfer the DC power output from battery to power the load. And when the SW5 is switched to position“1”, the inverter will transfer power from battery despite the AC input. Only when the battery voltage reaches low voltage alarm point(11.5V for 12V), the inverter will transfer to AC Input, charge battery, and switch back to battery when battery is almost charged full(13.5V for 12V). This function is mainly for wind/solar systems taking utility power as back up.

3.3.3 Other features Auto Generator Start (AGS) The inverter can be customized to start up a generator when battery voltage goes low. When the inverter goes to low battery alarm(11.5V for 12V), it can send a signal to start a generator, and turn the generator off after battery charging is finished.

The auto generator start feature will only work with generators designed to work with this feature. There is an open/closed relay that will short circuit the positive and negative cable from a generator. The input DC voltage can vary, but the Max current the relay can carry is 16Amp.

Battery temperature sensor (BTS) A battery temperature sensor (BTS) option can easily be installed in the system to ensure proper charging of the batteries based on temperature. Installing a BTS extends battery life by preventing overcharging in warm temperatures and undercharging in cold temperatures.

4 WARNING

Never leave the loads unattended, some loads (like a Heater) may cause an accident in such cases. It is better to shut everything down after low voltage trip than to leave your load on, due to the risk of fire.
