Introduction:
Congratulations on your purchase of SENKO Smart Probe Video Microscope with
Automated IEC 61300-3-35 End-Face Inspection App, which has been developed
to provide the best reliability and performance. The VUE2 provides end users with
a comprehensive and effective field portable solution for the inspection of optical
interfaces. The VUE2 provides the capability to inspect and analyze the end face
of fiber optic connectors for contamination and other defects.
To get the best use of the VUE2 + Smart Probe and ensure its safe operation,
please take few minutes to read this manual.
Prerequisites:
Android Lollipop Version 5.0 (API Level 21)
Adobe Acrobat Reader
Getting Started:
Install VUE2 App
Download VU2 from Google play (Search for “Senko VUE2).
Install Adobe Acrobat Reader
Download Adobe Acrobat Reader from Google Play.

WiFi Set-up:
Once VUE2 App has been installed on the device, launch the app & switch on the Smart Probe. Message will appear “Cannot connect to Smart Probe. Open Wi-Fi Settings?” Select “Yes” to connect VUE2 App with the Smart Probe.
In WiFi Settings, Select the Smart Probe SSID (prefixed with SPxxxxx)

Tap the SSID and enter the password “12345678”
Tap “Back” button on your device to return to the app.
“The WiFi connection will now show as connected”

Setting up your fiber inspection microscope
and VUE2:
The app will open the following screen. The following diagram explains the various functionality in the app:
Tap the User Name button to set the name of the operator, followed by OK (or Cancel to leave unchanged)

Tap the Location button to set the location of the fiber being tested (Press OK to set, or Cancel to leave unchanged)
The Settings button allows the operator to change the following:
a. Enable/Disable Sounds. b. Create a PDF report each time the Capture button is pressed. c. Create an image of the end-face each time the Capture button is
pressed.

Press the Mode button to select the type of connector being tested. The mode button will then select mode.

Once inspection mode has been selected, adjust the “focus” by turning the focus
wheel on the Smart Probe to obtain good image quality. The Image Quality Meter
can be used as a reference point to obtain high quality image.
In addition the “focus indicator”, which is displayed in the left part of the window,
indicates whether the current view is optimized for a capture. A green indicator
shows a picture that can be captured and analysed. Analysis will be more difficult
with a blue indicator, and impossible with orange indicator.

Inspecting Fiber Ends and Analyzing Captures:
For inspection of fiber end-face, adjust focus (Image quality at least 80%) and
press the Process button. After few seconds the image will be analyzed and any
defects will be highlighted in red.
Tap the Info Panel (in this case where the result is displayed as PASS). This will
display a table of defects found, based on each Zone.

To access the PDF report created by the app, tap the PDF Folder button (To return
to the main screen, press the device Back button)
Open the appropriate report by tapping it. The Report filename is structured as
follows:
a. SP_yyyymmddhhmmss_OperatorName_Location.pdf i. yyyy = Year
ii. mm = Month iii. dd = Day iv. hh = Hour v. mm = Minute
vi. ss = Second vii. OperatorName = The name of the operator entered in the
User Name dialogue. viii. Location = The location entered in the Location dialogue

(To return to the main screen, press the device Back button):

To view the full filename of the image, it is recommended to view using the
Details view as follows:
Note: “The captured images & PDF report can be exported from the app and
uploaded to the email if need be”
