At the summer session of New York university Mr. Still was elected president of the Tri- State club for next yekr. Students taking the summer school cours e at New York university,- A from New York , New Jersey and Pennsylvania are eligible for membership. A number of people from this place attended the county fair at Riv- erhead last week. Mrs. William Geh- ring exhibited several knitted and crocheted articles and won first prize on a white knitted dress. Mrs. Ruth Mailer , Lester Davis , Lester Davis , Jr., and Merwin Still won a number of prizes foi vegetables and live- stock. Church .ind Sunday-school services were resumed in the Trinity church this week after being closed for the summer months. School sessions in district No. 14 started yesterday morning. Mrs. W. Wild and Mrs. Wilbur are in charge again this year. Superintendent Harold F. Davis and a number of friends are enjoy- ing a three-week vacation at Moose Head lake in Maine. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Edwards enter- tained Mr. and Mrs. Robert Still and childre n and Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Mikkleson and Mr. Mikkleson ' s sister and several other guests at their home on Sunday afternoon. Later in the afternoon the party enjoyed a picnic supper at Mt. Sinai beach . Mrs. Charlotte Still entertained 25 members of her family at a picnic supper on the lawn of her home last Sunday. Mrs. Jacob LeBleu and son , Irving, were guests of Mrs. Charlotte Still on Friday. EDWARD SMITH will leave soon to **— i resume his studies at college in Gene3eo , N. Y. He will visit friends in Syracuse and Dansville enroute. Miss Johanna Koschara , Mrs. Chris- tian Koschara and Mrs. Elroy Smith visited Helen Smith at the M ather hospital and found her much improv- ed. She will have a vacation of one month before resuming her duties at the Mather hospital. The local firemen attended the par- ade of the Setauket Fire department on Saturday evening. It was to have been held on Friday but was post- poned on account of rain. Miss Patricia Rice spent a week in New York as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Manning. Mrs. Anna Wevell , who is on a visit from Germany, spent a few days recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johiv Baczensky. Mrs. Carter recently entertained her daughters , Elizabeth and Jean , also Mr. and Mrs. Barrett " of New Jersey. The afternoon was spent fishing and bathing at West Sayville. Mrs. Carter entertained Mr. and Mrs. Graham of Port Washington and Mr. and Mrs. McGill of St. James on Thursday. Edwin Hawkins spent the holiday week-end in Boston , Mass. Savilla Smith spent a few clays last week as the guest of Marjorie Hahn. The Methodist church resumed ser- vices on Sunday evening. The Rev. Mr. Sloatman gave a very inspiring sermon on "Heavenly Vision. " . Next Sunday Sunday-school will beg in at 2 p. m. All children are urged to come and everyone is extended a cor- dial welcome. J., are spending a week at the home o 'f Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Bal- lance. Mr. and Mrs . Sidney Ballance , Mr. and Mrs . Skewes, Charles Hall , John Archambault and Miss Kate Lyon enjoyed a motor trip to Montauk Point on Sunday. Miss Olga Miller received first prize in a drawing she entered at the Riverhead fair. Last year she also received first prize. She has some remarkabl drawings , although she is only 13 years old. John Siden has leased the Coram Tea Room and it is under the man- agement of Mrs. Ludgigsen (Toots). It will be known as Coram Bar and Grill. The opening was held last Saturday evening. A good crowd was on hand to dance to the music of an orchestra of colored boys from Pt. Jefferson and at midnight a lunch was served to the guests. "Toots " is well known here having been emp loy- ed at "Tom' s Eagle Rest. " Mr. and Mrs. Carl Winters and friends of Roosevelt spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Winter ' s parents , Mr. and Mrs. T. Nilsson. Now attention is centered wpon a special subscription concert to be giv- en there by this organization, with Miss Lois Bannerman of Hempstead , renowned young h arpist , as guest so- loist , next Wednesday at 8:30 p. m. This will be followed by a dance in the gymnasium, with music by Line Andrews ' Society orchestra. Popular prices will prevail. There will -be separate tickets for the concei-t only, but none for the dance. The proceeds will be for the benefit of a supply fund , to make possible anoth- er series of free concerts . WINS ON APPEARANCE The Holbrook fire department was awa rded a silver cup for the fine ap- pearance which it- made in the par- ade which preceded the bazaar given for the benefit bf the Sayville fire department last week. The Bayport and Holbrook Fire departments tied for second place and a cup was awarded to both companies by the Sayville firemen.
