Degree of delight.

Rivers, mountains and deserts present

the most arduous driving tests in the

world. You need a vehicle with perfect

off-road capabilities to cope with them –

and a few practical tips.

Hill-climbing ability: 450.

You can cope with even extremely steep

slopes in the Touareg. Check what lies

behind the crest beforehand – after all,

when driving at very steep angles, you

look directly into the sky.

Wading depth: up to 500 mm.

You can cross water safely and comfortably

in the Touareg. Drive into the water in the

direction of flow and then at a constant

speed to the opposite bank.

Ramp angle: 270.

A Touareg overcomes large fallen

tree trunks, rocks or hills without

the under-body making contact

with the ground. Watch out for

recesses or soft subsoil behind

obstacles that could influence

ground clearance unfavourably.

Side slope angle: 350.

The Touareg drives safely even on sloping

roads. Should it slant too far, do not brake

but steer the vehicle quickly into the fall

line. In this way, it is possible to bring it

safely under control.

unmistakable character. The

trailblazing combination of

common rail and piezo in-line

injectors facilitates five

precisely metered injection

processes per stroke. This

improves the smooth running

and exhaust qualities, and the

even distribution of fuel

converts every drop of diesel

into superior performance.

Roof rails for bulky items.

The Touareg has an electronically sliding/

tilting glass roof. The sliding roof versions

can be conveniently closed from outside

via central locking.

The rear-mounted spare wheel makes room in the luggage compartment and

underlines the off-road character of your Touareg. It matches the four alloy wheels

fitted on the vehicle, has anti-theft protection, and is secured on a swivelling carrier.

Electric door mirrors can be folded and adjusted from inside, and heated separately. Aspherical door mirror on driver’s side for a

better view.

The audio module with ten loudspeakers and an output of 4 x 20 watts supplies perfect stereo sound at the front and rear. In addition

to FM and AM radio reception, all common audio file formats such as CD, MP3 and WMA can be played.

Park distance control gives the driver an

acoustic and visual warning to indicate

how much space remains to manoeuvre

at the front and rear.

The completely new Anti-locking Brake

System (ABS) improves steerability

when full braking is applied on the

road. If loose surfaces are registered,

wheel lock is controlled.

Warning and tone lamp indicate if the

front seat belts are not fastened.

The brake assist system with dual-rate

function recognises the speed with

which the brake pedal is operated.

During emergency braking or when

braking as a reflex action, the system

builds up full brake pressure more

quickly.

Electronic Brake Pressure Distribution

(EBD) prevents wheel lock on the rear

wheels when the weight of the vehicle

shifts towards the front wheels during

braking.

Bi-xenon headlights with cornering lights, for high and low beams, dynamic and static cornering lights. Built-in motors move the

powerful headlights in the direction of travel, thus improving illumination on bends and when turning off.

Airbags for the driver and front passenger including curtain airbags assure comprehensive protection on all seats. Available with

deactivation facility in glove compartment for front passenger’s airbags.
