Mercedes W211 E-Class 2003-2006 Steering Wheel Install Instructions

Tools Required

1 Screwdriver Torx T-25 Screwdriver Torx T-27 Screwdriver Torx T-55 M10 Wrench MAcarbon Pry Tool Blue painters tape

Installation Steps Step Instructions Photo

1. Make sure the steering wheel is pointed straight ahead.

2. Disconnect the main battery in the trunk using the

M10 wrench.

3. Using the T-27 screwdriver, undo the airbag retaining

bolt on the right side. Use blue painters tape to protect the steering column form scratches.

Step Instructions Photo 4. Using the T-27 screwdriver, undo the airbag retaining

bolt on the left side. Use blue painters tape to protect the steering column form scratches.

5. Gently ease the airbag down to get access to the

airbag and control wires.

6. Disconnect the electronics package connector.

7. Disconnect the airbag connectors. Pry out the

retaining plug first.

Step Instructions Photo 8. Then use the pry tool to remove the connector.

Proceed to the other connector.

9. Use the T-55 torx to remove the wheel bolt.

10. Remove the wheel and disconnect the shift paddle

wire. Thread the airbag wires through the hub of the wheel leaving them plugged into the steering coulmn.

11. Remove the four airbag retaining plate bolts using the

T-25 torx.

Step Instructions Photo 12. Lift out the airbag retaining plate.

13. Unplug the shift bottom wire.

14. Using the pry tool, remove the shift buttons.

15. Take this opportunity to clean the shift buttons.

(Replacement is an option.)

16. Build the new wheel in the opposite order as the

disassembly.

Step Instructions Photo 17. Installation is opposite of removal. Enjoy your new

wheel!
