In early 2015, ICI opened a new office

location in Jacksonville, Florida to

support our expansion efforts within

the region. By early summer, we were

awarded a significant project for existing

client, Walmart Stores, Inc., within the

city limits.

Although ICI had completed several

small renovation projects for Walmart

within the southeast region of the

country; this was our first ground up,

new construction project. The new store

is a 192,000 square foot supercenter on a

pad-ready site.

ICI is well-versed in the Walmart

product; our team has built 6 new

construction stores, has an additional

new construction store in progress

within the Chicago area and has

completed more than 30 renovations

and expansions across the country. The

Jacksonville store, however, has presented

several challenges.

Uncharacteristically heavy rainfall has

made working conditions difficult

and the ICI team has had to develop

resourceful solutions to maintain the

project schedule. For example, in late

summer the area received 20” of rain

when 6” is customary for the region.

ICI’s on-site superintendents have

mitigated the issue by cutting swales in

the pad and draining the water out of a

low spot at the dock levelers.

The project is due to be complete in early

2016.
