HIGHLIGHTED EXPERIENCE

The first full-service, built-for-production facility in Michigan, Raleigh Michigan Motion Picture Studios is the most up-to-date studio of its kind in America and represents an exceptional re-use of land and office space that was once the site of Truck Product Center-East at the General Motors Centerpoint business campus. Designed to accommodate television, movie and post-production work, the 225,000 square-foot studio also serves as an education training center for film industry trades. Teamed with designer Harley Ellis Deveraux, Walbridge led the design-build efforts and conducted value analysis and value engineering sessions. These efforts trimmed more than $10 million from the budget and allowed construction to begin early.

Walbridge provided progress management control for the cleaning, decommissioning and demolition of this former 3.5 million square foot General Motors assembly plant, down to the existing floor slab. We also managed the disbursement of existing production equipment and selected production systems were sold at auction; the remaining was sold for scrap. Managing the decommissioning, extraction and shipping of the production equipment sold, Walbridge defined the overall facility and site demolition scope and obtained comparative pricing from demolition and environmental subcontractors.

The intent of the OAC is to bring awareness to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the state’s vast recreational offerings to a demographic far removed from the wilderness.
