The Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality sent out a notifi cation this week stating that water restrictions will be in place as from November 30.

The restrictions are apparently due to the water usage exceeding the actual estimated demand by Lepele Northern Water and as a result the Municipality will experience low water pressure and in some areas a water shortage.

In the notice issued on November 27, the municipality urges town and township residents to monitor the usage of water to not exceed 1500 litres per day or about 45 000 litres per month. Amidst all of this, there are still parks being irrigated and water pipes leaking all over town.

Furthermore, the Municipalitys notice states that failure to comply with the water restrictions will result in additional charges for extra water used as well as further restrictions.

It seems that the Municipality is oblivious to their own wasting and may once again only penalise law abiding citizens who will have to fork out more cash for using more water than what is allocated to them.

Residents outside of town will however also feel the pressure as water supply will only be at specifi ed times:

Rural villages will receive water from 2pm-10am

Namakgale will receive water from 4am-10pm

Lulekani will receive water from 4am-10pm.

Watering of gardens are also restricted, Namakgale may only water gardens on Thursday, Lulekani on Tuesday and Town, Extension 1 and 6 on Monday, Extension 8 on Wednesday and Extension 2,3,4 and 7 on Thursday.

Further restrictions on the irrigation of gardens are that residents may only water their gardens once a week over a two hour period between 16:00 18:00.

Residents are however up in arms about these restrictions as they are not blind to the wastage of municipal water.

These restrictions and possible higher rates comes at a time when residents are still fi ghting the municipality on their Valuation Roll and property rates and taxes.

Maphutha L. Malatji Hospital Emergency Medical Services is currently only operating with three ambulances while the remaining six are scraps.

These shocking revelations emerged during the Department of Public Service and Administration Bathopele Principles Ministerial Imbizo on Monday initially meant to be led by Advocate Ngoako Ramatlhodi and Limpopo Premier, Stan Mathabatha, but the two failed to arrive.

We are operating with only three ambulances while the remaining six have exhausted their lifespan yet we have to serve nine clinics and two Hospitals. We also have few nurses for escorting patients between Letaba, Mmankweng and Polokwane Hospitals. Our expected response time for urban areas is 15 to 20 minutes, but we often takes around 30 to 40 minutes while for rural areas is often an hour and Seloane is very far whereas the gravel road makes it diffi cult to drive, explained the Station Manager, Sipho Sambo. Mopani District Municipalitys Executive Mayor, Nkakareng Rakgoale who led the door to door inspection with DPSA Director General, Moswahle Diphofa, Ba-Phalaborwa

Municipalitys Mayor Anan Sono, Speaker David Maake and the embattled Hospitals Chief Executive Offi cer, Rebecca Peta; said educating the community about the Hospitals six ambulances having reached their lifespan would mean that government is failing on its duties this after Diphofa asked what have they done to educate the community about challenges faced. You and the CEO should directly engage the senior district manager for authorization to speed up the process of receiving new vehicles and maintenance. Telling our people on the media that our ambulances are not working says something bad about us, she remarked. Sambo further said the station doesnt have a transport offi cer and currently performs those duties coupled with his. On a lighter note, Rakgoale was highly impressed with the Hospitals cleanness and encouraged the CEO to maintain the excellent standard.

We have visited many Hospitals and when we arrived one would immediately see cleaners cleaning the premises; a clear sign that they were aware of our unannounced visit but their standards were still worse, she noted. Rakgoale and the DG were also impressed with services rendered by the South African Social Security Agencys stationed at Maphutha. We are also pleased that even our media is impressed with the compliments written on the disengagement desk as everyone helped were highly satisfi ed with the services rendering by the offi cials,

she said. The SASSA Supervisor, Selane Maeye says their desks are divided into customer engagement, screening, attesting, quality control, verifi cation (fi nance) and disengagement. After Maphutha and SASSA, the delegation proceeded to Lulekani Police Station and used the R71 instead of the dilapidated Benfarm and Humulani tar road and upon arriving at the police station was welcomed by a state breakdown vehicle transporting a damaged police sedan. The Acting Station Manager, Captain Hlengani Makhubele said most of their vehicles were bought in 1999 and have since reached thus making their job to be diffi cult. We normally have one week response time from the Tzaneen state garage while our Selwane satellite only operates from 07:00 to 16:00 on weekdays with only two offi cers, but the community needs it to operate 24 hours.

Seloane is a bit far being around 50km while the area has more than 19 farms and often stock theft cases are reported, but we dont have enough vehicles to attend to their cases, he explained. Makhubele added that the victims empowerment programme often meets challenges as only three female offi cers are often on duty at night while their colleagues would be on maternity leave; this after Diphofa asked him how many female offi cers are tasked to deal with rape and domestic violence cases.

The damaged lights on the roof including other minor items are done internally, but major maintenance on the structure including the three years birds nest

currently giving us a problem and a threat to our health on the ceiling is Public Works responsibility. We also dont have a disabled facility for wheelchair bound citizens to access the victims empowerment offi ce which is situated upstairs and Public Works told us the equipment is too expensive but for the time being we are using another building though it isnt an ideal one, Makhubele remarked. He added that the new station manager was forced to reside at a lodge as the process of building her a house by Public Works is prolonging. Most of our reservists dont stay long thus negatively impacting on our service standards.

The provincial commissioner is well aware of all our problems per effectively executing our duties, but we are soldering on, Makhubele noted. The delegation proceeded to an indigent family at Matikoxikaya. The familys mother, 50 years old Grace Maholobela is unemployed and doesnt have a bank account while her 19 daughter quit school at grade 9 and now is taking care of her one year old son. SASSA will give you food parcels while Councillor Thompson Nkuna tomorrow will help your mother to open her bank account and she will also be placed on the new project in the ward. You must go back to school so that you can change your familys poor background.

The mayor will buy you school uniform and Nkuna will have to monitor your progress, explained Rakgoale.

The door to door ended with Remember Baloyi and Nhlanhla Ndlovu fi nally going to see their dreams of going to University

or FET about to be realized as DPSA committed to help them. Remember passed Maths and Physical Science extremely well, but due to fi nancial constraints couldnt resume studies at the University of Pretoria having applied through aid from his brother doing odd jobs and been admitted while Nhlanhla failed to apply as his parents passed away.

Hospital operates with only three ambulancesONLY THREE AMBULANCES: Maphutha L. An accident at Palaborwa Copper last week Friday morning left one miner dead and another in a critical, but stable condition. While most residents of the Phalaborwa Municipality were queuing for the BlackFridaySale, a miner at Palabora Copper lost his life and another was seriously injured.

According to the companys spokesperson, Hulisani Nemaxwi, the accident occurred around 09:00 at their underground Lift Two Development Project.

It is with sadness and shock that we announce that one of our contractors employee died this morning after a beam fell on top of him. His colleague sustained serious injuries and is currently in a critical, but stable condition at a local Hospital. The authorities being Department of Mineral Resources, South African Police Services and our internal safety crew, are currently investigating the matter to determine what could have led to the accident,

he explained. Nemaxwi added that at this stage they cannot

speculate about the root cause of the accident, but once preliminary investigations have been concluded, a report will be communicated to the public.

We have since closed all operations for the next 24 hours out of respect of the deceased and the injured miner, but the afternoon shift for tomorrow will report for work. We have also communicated with the two miners families and our heartfelt condolences go out to the deceaseds family and we also wish the injured miner a speedy recovery, he remarked.

At the time of going to print, it was still unclear as to what which contractor the deceased and his fellow injured miner are attached to let alone the preliminary investigations report as Nemaxwi didnt respond to our questions despite several attempts to get hold of him.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR: Ezekiel Mogakane and his lovely bride were married on Saturday and used the opportunity to donate to the local SPCA by ren ng Manie Kriels 1960 Cheverolet Biscayne to make their special day even more special.

Be safe this Christmas season.Alcohol: Celebrate safely - the risk of accidents, especially in

the kitchen, is more likely after alcohol is consumed. Make sure you prepare when you go for a night

out - plan how you will get home, tell people where you are going, look out for your friends and drink sensibly. Remember Keys, money, phone, plans to get home.

Dont drink and drive - apart from putting yourself and others in danger, you could face a ban or imprisonment.

Burglary/theft from cars: Dont leave empty present boxes near your bin - you

may have a gift a potential burglar is after. Dont leave presents or valuables visible in the car

    - they can tempt a potential offender to break into your car.

Check on older relatives and neighbours. If you are away dont leave signs that your home is

unoccupied (milk bottles, newspapers, bin left out) and try to make sure your house looks occupied by installing timers for lights and ask neighbours to pop in.

Beware of bogus callers - remember to keep all doors locked and put the chain on before opening the door. Always check the callers identifi cation.

Angry Matikoxikaya and Humulani residents told government leaders to stop giving them bottled water during events as they wont use the water to neither bath nor cook with it.

Over 2000 residents had fi lled the huge tent erected at Humulani Mafamasi soccer fi eld for the Department of Public Service and Administration Ministerial Imbizo initially meant to be led by Minister Ngoako Ramotlhodi and Limpopo Premier Ngoako Ramathlodi, but the two failed to arrive.Did you give all these people this bottled water in my hands? Do you want us to use this bottled water to cook and bath with? You must stop disrespecting us and start doing what we voted you to do being to provide us with not only basic human rights needs, but effi cient service delivery. You promised us that you will remove the sewer in our pit toilets when you built us new ones, but even today we are this waiting for your technical offi cials to come, explained an irritated Richard Ngobeni from Humulani. Ngobenis sentiments were supported by Themba Ngobeni who said there is no water and toilet in the villages cemetery. The cemetery doesnt have a fence while cattle are damaging our beloved ones graves.

The day you will give us water frogs will emerge from the taps, says a furious Ngobeni. Themba Maluleke said people cannot be begging for water from government yet Benfarm residents are forced to walk 5km to fetch water and a teenager was hit by a speeding motorist on her way from fetching water when she was supposed to be studying. I dont know how you get to prioritize when you allocate budgets for projects, but you are currently constructing a pavement on Namakgales main road; Calvin Ngobeni while our people do not have a single drop of water in their homes. EPWP and CWP volunteers should receive between R2800.00 and R3000 monthly. When coming here today you used the R71 instead of the terrible Benfarm and Humulani road because you dont want national government to know about our appalling roads, remarked an emotional Maluleke. Phophi Rikhotso popularly known as speed fi re says Matikoxikaya doesnt have a clinic despite the village established in 1986 but a new village, Humulani has one and currently being renovated.

We dont have a tar road and a mast light at Madangweni and a woman was previously raped and killed but the case is yet to be resolved. The pipes dont have water and even yourself comrade Speaker you wont drink the water due to it sourness. Since 1994 the only thing you gave us is a cemetery. We see Kgoshikgadi Sekgopo in your mist, but where is our Chief? Arts and Culture MEC Nandi Ndalanis failure to come here on behalf of the Premier is pure disrespect to us. Mapungubwe is a waste of public funds as we are only going to drink alcohol, explained a fuming Rikhotso. Nelson Nyathi says Humulani Clinin doesnt have medicine yet they stay there from 07:00 until 17:00 while they are forced to sleep on chairs at Mmankweng Hospitals. Maphutha is supposed to be the place where we get excellent health care, but mosquitoes are preying us in that Hospital, Nyathi said. Olga Nyathi says the Municipality ought to stop giving supply tenders to outsiders and despite having been on the Municipality database for many years, even today she is yet to receive a single tender. The CENSUS 2010/11 shows that Limpopo isnt progressing economically and the situation is worsening. We see our President attending BRICS meetings, but on the ground we dont see any changes. The Executive Mayor earlier on said things are well at Maphutha, but more than 100 people on a daily are returning home without having been helped, explained Moses Mathe from Namakgale Zone 4. Mphezulu Maphanga from Namakgale ward 5 says Maphuthas Dr Cootzees negligent in 2001 forced his fi rst wife to leave him as the doctor performed an HIV test on their six weeks child without their permission and having counselled them. The results came out positive though I knew that I am a Christian and faithful to my wife. I am now involved in a legal battle with my ex as our child is based in Gauteng and the mother doesnt it to return here. I didnt want to mention Onnie Rammalos name, but I have made an appointment with him. The Bathopele Principles theme written on the podium is pure nonsense, he remarked. Maphanga added that BPM Speaker David Maake must resign in the same light he called for the resignation of MPAC head, PR

councillor Omega Makwala during the recent Namakgale Mayoral Imbizo accusing him of having sold RDP houses next to Maphutha. Maake must stop dividing Ba-Phalaborwa residents and giving Municipal stamps for outside people to get employment at PMC. I am not friends with the Mayor and I dont wish to be, but many things are done behind the Mayors back including the advertisement of jobs without her knowledge. Our ward councillor, Mabilu didnt attend the last Imbizo at Namakgale because he was at work at PMC. Dont use this platform to score cheap political points. You know that I am EFF leader, but I came here as a private citizen. You must inform us when election campaign has started so that we can meet on the ground. Why is the Premier not here? The Premiers none attendance is an insult to us, explained an agitated Maphanga. Many Humulani redients including Solly Ngobeni, Thalitha Ngobeni and Samson Mathebula complained about home affairs refusing to give them RSA ID documents as their current ones still indicates that they are Mozambicans. Mopani Executive Mayor, Nkakareng Rakgoale called on the DPSA Director General, Moswahle Diphofa to liaise with Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba to create a pilot project for Giyani and Phalaborwa to resolve the ID debacle. Patrick Chauke says Military Veterans are ignored while their poor plights still persists. Freddy Mokgalabone from Mashishimale says there are no storm water, culverts bridges and safety signs on the Mashishimale Maseke gravel road while it takes residents four hours for their BPs to be captured at the local clinic and that should the Lebeko to Moshate main road not be tarred by April 2016, no local elections will take place at Mashishimale. Masiza ngobeni says Lulekani Police Station is the worse station ever and nothing is done about criminals pretending to be police offi cers entering their houses at night demanding money and guns.
