Start off by creating your character. Follow the instructions and simplyconfirm your selections when you're done.

You'll get to meet Mormo for the first time here. Once you have controlafter the story events, head south. Mormo then decides that you should gohelp the girl, so go ahead and do that. This will trigger the very first battle of the game. Beat the soldier and get a weapon from him. Thetype of weapon you receive will depend on the job class you selected whilecreating your character.

More story events follow. Chester suggests that you head for the town and

see Kratos. You will automatically end up in Ailily Town's Plaza. Feel freeto speak to the people around town to gather information. You can check outthe stuff being sold at the Blacksmith and the Tool Shop as well if youwant, but you won't have enough gald to buy much yet.

Once you're done looking around, head over to the Guild. Some dialogue willensue. Kanonno will come in and explain everything you need to know aboutAd Libitum. You'll gain the rank of "Apprentice" afterwards. Raine wantsyou to get to know the other guild members. So proceed to the Plaza andInn, then speak to all characters with "!" marks on their heads.

Once done, go back to the Guild, speak to Kratos, then to Raine. She willgive you several recipes. After ths short tutorial on item crafting, speakto Raine again to start taking requests.

To accept a job, speak to Raine, select a job, and accept it. Next, headover to where your clients are located to get more information about theirrequests. Once you complete a quest, report back to the client to claimyour reward.

Try to complete as many minor quests as you can to gain enough Fame Points. When you manage to accumulate enough Fame Points, main quests will becomeavailable, and completing them allows you to proceed with the game's mainstoryline. There are 5 main quests to be accomplished in this town, withKratos being the client.

< Main Quest # 1 : Traces of Life >

Kratos wants you to check for any recent human activity in Hallowed Bastion. So leave Ailily and press left on the world map to reach your destination. Go in.

There, go forward until you get to the first split path then go left.Continue on to the next fork and head north. Keep going until you spot adoll on the ground. Mormo suggests heading back to Ailily. Do as he says.

There will be a short dialogue with Kratos at the Guild. Leave the placefor another story event, this time with Ganser. You will receive 500 galdand 50 fame points for completing this quest.

< Main Quest # 2 : Find Lloyd >

You can find Lloyd somewhere in the 1st level of Hallowed Bastion. As forhis exact location, simply go forward then left at the first fork. Mormowill see Lloyd. When you regain control, just continue along the pathyour character is already facing and follow it to the end.

Another cut-scene plays. Ask the guy about his name, and he will fightyou. Run around the battle area using the analog stick, until Lloydcompletes his combos. Once that happens, get close to him and attack.You will earn 1000 Gald and 100 Fame Points, along with the Ad Libitumtitle.

As an official member of Ad Libitum, you gain the privilege ofrecruiting party members at the Inn by speaking to the Innkeeper, and youcan now switch jobs by talking to Kratos at the Guild as well. Take notethat your desired party members may or may not join you depending on yourpopularity, so be sure to stock up on fame points by taking requests.

Kratos will also give you the SWORDSMAN and FIGHTER invitations. Thesewill allow you to access the swordsman and fighter elite jobs respectively,but you will have to spend a certain amount of Grade Points (GP) to usethem.

< Main Quest # 3 : Rescue the Captives >

Your goal this time is to save the captives in Hallowed Bastion. So go thereand continue on to the 2nd level. To get there, go forward from the entrancethen west at the 1st fork. Follow that path until you reach the next split.Take the north path and follow to yet another fork. Take the left one.Continue on until you get to the door at the end.

At the 2nd level, start off by going straight, then left at the fork. Continue left until you get to a door. A cut-scene will occur. The man will hand over the HALLOWED BASTION KEY. Grab the LIFE BOTTLE from the nearbytreasure chest.

From here, return to the fork path and go north to the next fork road. Pickup the PINEAPPLE GEL along the way. There, go right then down to reach another door. Save 2 more people. The old man will give you a HALLOWED BASTION DOOR BLUEPRINT.

From there, go back to the 2nd fork (the one you headed right at) and goleft. Follow the path all the way to the final door. Beat the Gargoyles andPedestals that appear.

Earn 2000 Gald and 100 Fame Points. Also, if you managed to get a "HallowedBastion Map" while fighting monsters, take it to the Map Master in the 1stHouse. He will unlock a hidden dungeon. Take note that the enemies thereare very deadly, so be sure to go only if your characters are powerfulenough. Your maps will disappear once their power is released.

< Main Quest # 4 : Escort Stahn >

You must accompany Stahn to the Doplund gateway located at the end of Hallowed Bastion's 3rd level. Form a party of 4, preferably with a Priestin it. Continue onwards to the 2nd level. To get to the 3rd floor, headnorth at the first fork, and left at the next one. Continue straight up andtake a left at the minor split. This will lead you to the exit.

At the 3rd level, head straight and take a left at the first intersection,then north. Grab the ELIXIR from the chest using the Copper Key. Turn backto the fork and go up. At the next split path, go north once again all theway to the end. Grab the SPECIFIC from the chest.

Go all the way back to the 2nd fork road, and head south along the right

path. Proceed onwards to yet another intersection. Proceed up for asave point. Continue further up, then left, and down to reach a chest with aLIGHT CAPE. Turn back, then left, and up to your goal.

Earn 1000 Gald and 50 Fame Points for completing the quest.

< Main Quest # 5 : The Orphic Maze Appears >

You must rescue Kannono from Ganser. After receiving the quest information from Kratos, head to the Inn and recruit 3 more members for your party, hoping that the good ones don't refuse your invitation. Go to the Tool Shop and restock on items if needed. Leave the town when you're ready. At the world map, go north to reach the Orphic Maze.

This dungeon can get pretty confusing, so I recommend that you completethe quest first, then come back for the treasures later. Because you cansimply warp back outside if you happen to get lost.

Take the warps in this order to reach the 3rd level:

Floor 1 : East, East.Floor 2 : West, South, East, West.

A cut-scene plays when you get to the 3rd floor. Follow Ganser through thewarp afterwards. A boss fight against Ganser follows.

Equip the Poison Charm on your character to avoid getting poisoned. Try toget behind Ganser and attack from there. Block Ganser's magic attacks toreduce damage.

Earn 2000 Gald, 100 Fame Points, and the title of "Town Savior" forcompleting this quest. Save your game. You can choose to take some morerequests, or leave town and press L to head for Doplund.

Before heading to the guild, check out the other areas in town first, andget acquainted with some new characters. The ones you need to talk to have"!" marks on their heads. The blacksmith also sell some new equipments, which are very expensive. Once you're done, head to the guild to meet Garr and Philia. You can begin taking requests afterwards.

< Main Quest # 1 : The Earthquake's Epicenter >

Your goal for this quest is located in the 6th level of the Mine. At the1st level, just head straight then right at the first fork. From there,follow the path to the 3rd level exit. At 3F, go up to the split and headright. Take the right path again when you reach the next fork. Proceedalong that path to the 4th level exit.

At 4F, go along to the split and go right then up at the next one. Onceyou get to the 3rd fork, go right to 6F exit. You'll need to beat the RockWorm waiting there.

Make sure that your main healer stays behind your offensive party at alltimes, so set his/her strategy to the farthest distance and to alwaysdefend. Attack the worm from behind as much as possible, and be sure todefend against the creature's attacks. Fire-based Artes work very wellon this boss as well.

Earn 3000 Gald and 200 Fame Points for completing this quest.

< Main Quest # 2 : The Epicenter in Lavacleft >

At the 1st level go west to the first fork and head north, then east at thenext one. Proceed to the exit leading to the 3rd level. At 3F, taking eitherpath eventually triggers the same cut-scene, so pick whichever you like.

Earn 1000 Gald and 50 Fame Points for clearing this quest.

< Main Quest # 3 : The Hole in the Lavacleft >

Your goal for this quest is located at the 2nd level. At 1F, go left at thefirst fork and down at the next one. Proceed along the path towards the exit leading to 2F. At the 2nd level, head for the west dead end, and Mormowill comment about the path being blocked by magma.

When you regain control, proceed to the west dead end for a cut-scene. Thequake has bridged the gap to the north, so you can now go through there.Pick up the treasure and follow the linear path all the way to the top.Gilgulim will be there. A boss fight follows after the cut-scene.

Aerial Artes such as the Tempest Strike will prove to be very effectiveagainst Drake. Again, let your healer stay back and focus on providing support.

< Main Quest # 4 : Rescue Leon and Defeat Gilgulim >

At the 1st level of the Weald, go left at the first split then north at thenext one. When you reach the third fork, head left then up to the exitleading to 2F. At the 2nd level, take the northeast path and follow it allthe way to the next intersection. There, head southeast towards the 3F exit.

At 3F, go along the path until you trigger a cut-scene. When you regaincontrol, proceed northeast at the fork. Save your game at the save point.Continue along the path to reach 4F. You'll have to defeat the Behemothwaiting for you there.

The boss is tough because of its powerful physical attacks. If you havea warrior, try to get behind the Behemoth, and use the Punishing BlastArtes at close range to get 2 hits in. Keep your healer's TP high at all times, since you'll find yourself in healing a lot here, unless youmanage to avoid or block most of the Behemoth's attacks. So havingplenty of Orange Gels and Pineapple Gels will help. Ice-based attackswork well on this boss as well.

< Quest # 5 : Defeat the Monsters Blocking the Path >

Your goal here is to get to the 5th level of the Mine, and get rid of the monster blocking your path to Gavada. At the 1st level, just head stright then right at the first fork. From there, follow the path to the 3rd level exit. At 3F, go up to the split and head right. Take the right path again when you reach the next fork. Proceed along that path to the 4th level exit.

At 4F, head right at the first fork, then north at the next one. Continueon until you spot another split. Take the left path and save your game.Proceed to 5F afterwards. A Graelhorn will welcome you.

This boss is somewhat similar to the Behemoth. Keep your healer out of harm's way and concentrate on healing your other party members. Also, the Pow Pow Hammer almost always confuses this boss when it hits, so use it as much as possible. Try to get your strongest character behind the boss, and attack with your strongest Artes, while your other party members keep it busy.

Having the Earth Cape equipped helps a lot. Wind-based Artes are quiteeffective on Graelhorn too.

Earn 2000 Gald and 100 Fame Points for completing this quest. You mayaccomplish some more quests both in Doplund and Ailily if you like. Otherwise, exit the town and head to Gavada. ============================================================================

Head for the guild as soon as you get here, then proceed to town and talkto the citizens to get information about where to find Harold. Keep this upuntil Mormo comments about Harold when you try to leave town. When thathappens, go back to the guild for another chat with Eugene. You can acceptrequests by speaking with Annie afterwards.

< Main Quest # 1 : Search for Harold's Whereabouts >

At the 1st level of the Aelderwood, follow the path up and go northeast atthe intersection. Head north at the next one. Continue on to the 2nd level

exit. At 2F, follow path to fork and proceed northeast. Go along all theway to the end grabbing treasures, including the one in the northwestcorner. After that, return to the nearest fork path and proceed northeast.Follow the path until you see a staff.

Earn 1000 Gald and 50 Fame Points for completing this. quest.

< Main Quest # 2 : Get the Flourite >

At Frosthollow 1F, take either path when you reach the fork, then head northat the next one. Continue on to the 2nd level. At 2F, go up at theintersection. There will be a save point there, so save if you like. Takethe east path up to 3F afterwards. At 3F, just move along to the end forsome cut-scenes. Beat the 4 Ice Spirits that appear.

< Main Quest # 3 : Search for and Rescue Harold >

At the 1st level of the Aelderwood, follow the path up and go northeast atthe intersection. Head north at the next one. Continue on to the 2nd levelexit. At 2F, make your way back to where you found the staff earlier, andmake your way to the rather elusive treasure that you see not far fromyour location. You should see Harold there. Earn 1000 Gald and 50 Fame Points for completing this quest.

< Main Quest # 4 : Shut Down the Mana Lab >

Your goal is located at the 4th level of Aelderwood. At the 1st level, follow the path up and go northeast at the intersection. Head north at the next one. Continue on to the 2nd level exit. At 2F, go northeast at the first fork, then southeast at the next one. When you get to the third

intersection, go up and continue to 3F.

At 3F, go southeast at the split and save your game. Continue on to the topfloor. At 4F, simply move forward for a cut-scene and a boss fight.

If you have a Warrior in your party, fill up his/her overlimit gauge andactivate it. Once activated, keep using Punishing Blast on Tyrantoise whileyour other party members keep it busy. Hit the boss with only one fullcombo at a time then move away to be safe. Wind-based attacks work well onit too.

Earn 3000 Gald and 200 Fame Points for completing this quest. Do some morerequests if you want. Otherwise, go back to Doplund.

< Main Quest # 1 : Follow the Mana Flow >

Your goal this time is to get to the 3rd level of the Weald. At 1F, go left at the first split then north at the next one. When you reach the third fork, head left then up to the exit leading to 2F. At the 2nd level, take the northeast path and follow it all the way to the next intersection. There, head southeast towards the 3F exit.

At 3F, a cut-scene will be triggered when you reach the split path. Onceyou regain control, proceed northeast and follow Kannono to 4F.

< Main Quest # 2 : The Woman in the Weald >

Go all the way back up to the 4th level. Don't forget to use the save pointin 3F. A boss fight follows after the short dialogue.

Kannono is not at all difficult. Her physical defense is quite poor, soyour melee characters can deal a good amount of damage with each hit. Shemostly uses fire-based spells. Therefore, having the Flare Cape equippedwill be helpful.

Earn 2000 Gald and 200 Fame Points for completing this quest. Go back toAilily after this.

This is your last stop before the final battle. Feel free to complete thefirst quest, but once the second quest appears, prepare to enter the finaldungeon or accomplish whatever requests remain in all 3 towns.

< Main Quest # 1 : The Dying World Tree >

From the entrance of the Foot of the World Tree, ignore the intersection andproceed north to the 2nd level. At 2F, go left at the first fork then leftagain at the next one. Follow the path up. Take a right at the next fork,then head north at the closest intersection. From there, go east thennorth to 3F.

At 3F, ignore the intersection and go up. At the next split path, go right

and proceed north at the end. Continue on, making sure to use the savepoint that you see along the way. Once you reach yet another fork, headnorth. Continue to the top for a cut-scene and a boss fight.

Aurora is a potent magic user, specializing on dark-type spells. Equip theDark Cape to reduce damage from her attacks. Get rid of Aurora's minionsfirst. If you're using a melee character, get behind her and attack from there. Hit her with one complete combo, and distance yourself by running around the battlefield until she completes her turn. If you have a Priest, use holy-type attacks, such as Ray. Fire spells work pretty well too.

< Main Quest # 2 : Infiltrating Gilgulim >

There are plenty of treasures for you to get in this dungeon, so take thetime to explore and find them if you like. Navigate around the manyintersections, and if you encounter a broken path, take a detour. Alwaystry to find a path that leads towards the center of the area. You shouldspot a save point when you reach the final intersection at the top. Saveyour game and continue north to the 2nd level.

< Final Boss : Widdershin (1st Half) >

This part of the battle should not cause much problems. If you're usinga melee character, go around behind Widdershin and attack from there. Hisattacks should be quite weak if you have good physical defense. Just don'tlet him hit you with combos repeatedly. Moves like Omega Tempest andPunishing Blast work well on him.

If you're playing as a Mage or Bishop, then Final Embrace and Explode willserve you well, since both do a lot of damage to Widdershin. Make sure tobring along a priest and have him/her take care of your HP. When youropponent prepares his sword swipe, quickly move out of range.

< Final Boss : Widdershin (2nd Half) >

When you get his HP down to half, he will summon a massive sword thathits the whole battle area, so there is no way for you to avoid that. Equipthe Light Cape to reduce damage from it to half. This move will mostlikely kill off all your allies. If it does, then don't bother revivingthem, unless your character is a magician who needs someone else to act ascannon fodder.

At this point, Widdershin will start using a combination of magic andphysical attacks. You may attack him when he pauses after executing a majormove. When he casts Meteor Storm, run around the battle area, in adirection away from the meteors and towards Widdershin. This way, you willget a chance to hit him several times as he recovers from using the attack.

Using moves such as Omega Tempest and Punishing Blast during his pauses isa good way to finish the fight faster.

Watch the ending and obtain some bonuses after the game credits, includingnew game +, sound test option, higher difficulty setting, and the title of"World Savior"

============================================================================III. SIDE QUESTS [03]============================================================================

These maps are sometimes dropped by enemies in dungeons. Once you have amap in your possession, head over to the 1st House in Ailily and speak tothe map master there. He will activate the map and grant you access to theEX version of the specific dungeon.

The EX dungeons contain enemies that give a good deal of experience points,and some unique monsters that you won't see anywhere else. These uniqueenemies occasionally drop unique and powerful equipments. The Gold Knightsdrop equipment pieces for the Gilgamesh set.

Equipments for the Gilgamesh set are as follows: Excalibur, Golden Helm, RedLine Shield, Gold Armor, Hyper Gauntlet, and Jet Boots.

Take note that once you use a magic map, the item will permanently disappearfrom your inventory. So it is a good thing if you managed to get multiplecopies of a single map.

Kratos will occasionally drop hints about radiants, when you talk to himafter freeing Ailily from Ganser. Then talk to Raine and accept the"Touchstone" quest when it becomes available. Once completed, you can start gathering the radiant equipments. You must be at level 25 or higher for theradiant quests to appear though.

You will also have a different client, and a different location dependingon your current class.

There are a total of 10 jobs/classes in the game: 4 basic classes, whichare available at the beginning, and 6 elite jobs that requires a specificaccomplishment to unlock. To change into an elite job, you will have topurchase it for 100 Grade Points. You only need to pay once though.

For basic classes, you can switch between these jobs any time, by talkingto the guild master of a town.
