Goal: Practice writing and matching word with picture.
• Create a classroom word wall using the words of school objects.
• Have some children make word cards for the word wall.
• Have other children make pictures to go on the word wall next to the word.
• Play a matching game with the children’s words and pictures.

Quick literacy tip: Silly Nursery Rhymes. Goal: To help child/ren hear sounds in words. Sitting close to children read or recite a familiar nursery rhyme. Reread the nursery rhyme, but this time substitute rhyming words that aren’t usually in the nursery rhyme. Have children tell you what is wrong with the nursery rhyme.
