The first is hand drawn ‘Butterflies’, vectored into a cleaner image. Printed on Antique White stock.

I produced the wallpaper packaging by cutting a slit through the tube so that the wallpaper can remain inside the tube and keep clean. It would work well in stores when potential customers seeking a sample can simply pull off a segment of the wallpaper leaving the rest damage free.

(ii)‘Bugs’ is hand drawn coloured with crayon on Cartridge stock.

(iii)‘Ice Cream’ hand drawn digitally coloured with vectored sprinkles on Cartridge stock.

I tried to produce a range of wallpaper for both boys and girls using many themes, techniques, colours and spacing. On the left are the ‘pets’ and ‘bugs’ artwork.

In doing these I found deeper categories within them. That is to say that within each individual drawing was another wallpaper by itself. It is difficult to draw a line and say the category stops here otherwise the development would go on forever.

I created some additional prints which could be hung alongside or nearby the wallpaper to bring out a small unseen parts of the patterns.

By doing this I hoped to create more of a product as it is taking it one step further from just selling wallpaper. It becomes the beginnings of a decoration pack.

The label contains the necessary information as of it’s competitors, providing basic information of the wall-paper’s size and care details. I kept the branding simple as the brief was about the image investigation and not a branding project. However, I think that it works well and is suitable to adapt to the six variables in it’s range.

(i)Each wallpaper is packaged with corresponding colour caps to match the label. This way when seen in the store (iii) the customer is able to identify quickly what tube to take from the shelf by the sample, without having to read the label.

(ii)I proposed the use of the art works on the point of sale. By having the tubes arranged as they are - there is room for a sample roll (which would be falling from a tube) to be on display and ripped apart as people need it. Meanwhile the products are kept unharmed up above and can quickly be identified.
