Combineflour,saltandwaterinamixingbowluntilitformsintoadough.Kneadonalightlyflouredsurfaceuntilasoftballforms.Rolloutdoughonlightlyflouredsurface.Thethickeryourollittheeasieritistoworkwith.Foryoungerchildrenkeepthedoughquitethickandcutintoshapesofyourchoice,usingcookiecutters.Atthetopofeachshapeuseastrawtomakeasinglehole(thiswillbeusedtohangyourornament).Becausethedoughwillbedriedataverylowtemperatureyoucandecoratenowwithjewels,mirrors,beadsetc.Pleasedonotpaintthemuntilafterthebakingprocess.
Placeitemsonabakingtraylinedwithparchmentpaper.Bakeat200°Fforthreehours.Letcoolcompletelybeforeapplyinganypaint,glitteretc.Oncedry,applyacoatofaglossfinish(ModPodgeworks)andhangwithribbon.Optional:Ifyouwantcoloureddoughaddfoodcolouringtothewater.Note:Unuseddoughcanbewrappedinasandwichbagandkeptinthefridgeforuptosixweeks.

Whole Wheat Pancakes Yield: Serves 2-3
1 cup milk1 tbsp. vinegar 1 cup whole wheat flour2 tsp. sugar1/2 tsp. baking powder1/4 tsp. baking soda1/4 tsp. salt1 egg2 tbsp. canola oil Butter for greasing the griddle
Combinethemilkandvinegarandletthemixturecurdlewhileyoumixtogethertheotheringredients.Inabigbowl,combinethewholewheatflour,sugar,bakingpowder,bakingsoda,andsalt.Setaside.
Inanotherbowl,whisktogethertheegg,meltedbutter,andthecurdledmilk,untilitlooksfairlysmooth.Whiskthiswetmixtureintothedryingredients,andstirthetwotogetheruntiljustbarelymixed.Youwantanyvisiblelooseflourtobestirredin,butthereshouldstillbeplentyoflumps.Ifyoustiroutthelumps,thepancakeswilllikelybetough.
