The 4 th mallet has to be softer than the others, because it is used only on the marimba. The mallets used on the vibraphone (2, 3, and 4) should not be too hard, yet they should have a clear tone to give a good contrast to the soft marimba sound. The vibraphone should be placed very carefully; following notes have to be reached on the marimba: 4 3 2 1

Children’s Song
