Are You a Connector?Connection is what Oasis is

all about. Oasis leaders at Life-Journey Church are called upon to build bridges so that con-nections can be made between group members. This important skill requires a loving heart, an interest in others, and a commitment to the time it takes to make those connections happen.

Oasis leadership is NOT leading a Bible study; it is NOT guiding a prayer circle. Instead, the job of an Oasis leader is to move folks in the group through a meaningful, spirit-nourishing conversation based on Sunday’s sermon. All the talking points and materials are prepared by pastoral staff so Oasis leaders can concentrate on the people in their groups — on making those connections.

If you feel like you might have the skills necessary to consider Oasis leadership, we invite you to complete the form below and a member of pastoral staff will schedule a time to talk with you and help discern if this might be the right thing for you. We want to help you discover your gifts and live into the role God has in store for you!

Couples Retreat: April 26–28!Spring is the season of renewal; what better time to renew your

relationship than with a weekend retreat! This will be a time away to focus on your relationship and to enjoy the company of other couples from the church.

We’ll meet at the beautiful Waycross Retreat Center in the woods of Brown County. The all-inclusive cost for the weekend of April 26–28 is $400 per couple, which includes a private room, meal service, a 24-hour beverage bar, workshops, access to 400 acres of trails and lakes, labyrinths, sports equipment and fields, and more. Our agenda for the weekend will include social and spiritual activi-ties in a large group as well as quiet alone time for every couple.

Registration is open through February 17 but space is limited so be sure to reserve your spot today! If enclosing payment with your registration, please give payment directly to Pastor Melody Merida. Checks can be made payable to LifeJourney Church with a note indicating “Couples Retreat.”

Our Annual Congregational Meeting is next Sunday, February 10 at 12:45 pm, after worship services. Members, please make every effort to attend. Non-members are also welcome! Meeting packets are available at the info kiosk, so pick one up and come prepared for the meeting.

Ash Wednesday is February 13LifeJourney Church will mark the beginning of Lent with an

Ash Wednesday service on February 22 at 6:30 pm. Lent is a 40-day season that concludes at the Great Vigil of Easter.

The service will be a time of reflection and prayer, imposi-tion of ashes, and a brief homily.

Young Adults Valentine’s Party!All young adults, ages 18-35, are invited to attend a Valentine’s

party hosted by the Young Adults Oasis. We’ll gather Friday, Febru-ary 15 at 7:00 pm at the home of Graham Melendez, co-leader of the Oasis, at 1547 North College Avenue, Indianapolis.

It will be a game night, so come prepared to play! All are wel-come to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages of their choice, but some will also be provided. There is no need to RSVP, just come as you are. We hope to see you there!

Winter Family BowlOur lanes are reserved, the bumpers are in place, and the shoes

are mostly cleaned! Come and join us for an afternoon of family bowling on February 23 at Expo Bowl on Indy’s south side, 5261 El-mwood Avenue, 46203, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm! Every Sunday after services, this team serves the congregation by serving tasty treats. Team members serve about once a month. Fill out the form below if you’d like more info.

Black History CelebrationOn February 24, we’ll celebrate Black History Month with

special services and a pitch-in lunch after the 11:00 am service. We need a crew of about eight volunteers to make that happen.

If you’d like to assist with the lunch, either with cooking/prep or with setup/cleanup, please fill out the form, and we’ll be in touch. This is a great way to serve on a one-time basis.

Set Decorators/Designers Wanted!Every year our decorating team, led by Shellye Bradford, puts

together an amazing set design for VBS. We are currently looking for a few folks who would like to assist Shellye in transforming our building into a knightly castle. All talents and skill levels are welcome—we are looking for willing hearts and hands.
