ROLL FORMED RACKING
PROS• Lightweight and easy to move and install• Uses less steel which greatly reduces the price• Many configurations available • Even though roll form is light it’s able to reach great
heights• Replacing beams is very simple• Many colours and styles available
With roll form racking, Racked Out can build many unique, customer focused product storage solutions which include:• Selective Pallet Rack• Double Deep Rack• Push Back Rack• Cantilever Rack• Pick Modules• Bolted Pallet Rack• Drive-In Rack• Pallet Flow Rack• Carton Flow Rack• Very Narrow AisleAll of the rolled form racking products we use come with a durable powder coated finish.
CONS• Any damage requires immediate replacement• Easily damaged without upright protectors• Strong because of its shape, once the shape has been
compromised the bay must be unloaded and the upright beam must be replaced
• Unloading and replacing a piece of a rack system can be a lengthy process and use many man hours
• Costs much less initially, but may require more maintenance
Roll formed pallet racking is generally recommended for retail stores and commercial and industrial warehouses storing lighter weight products with less fork truck interaction. It’s a good choice for facilities storing seasonal prod-ucts or a large variety of SKUs in varying sizes, as it provides great adaptability to deal with beam reconfigurations when any new product or pallet sizes are introduced.
STRUCTURAL RACKING
9
ROLL FORMED RACKING
PROS• Structural steel can handle abuse and will still retain
90% of its load bearing capacity• Upright protectors are not commonly needed when
using structural steel• Many configurations available• Replacing beams is relatively simple• Structural steel can be repaired and will not always
need to be replaced• Components can be smaller with larger capacities
than roll form which can equal more pallet positions• Usually the tallest racking systems use structural
steel rack
CONS• On average structural rack costs about 15% more
than roll form rack• Heavy and harder to work with than roll form• Costs slightly more to install
Racked Out offers a full range of extra rugged structural steel racking products and storage systems including:
• Selective Pallet Rack • Double Deep Rack• Cantilever Rack • Drive-In/Drive-Thru Rack• Pallet Flow Rack • Multi-level Pick Modules• Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) Rack• Push Back Rack - 2 to 6 deep
Structural steel is one of the strongest building materials known. Racked Out uses unique structural steel racking and product storage systems that are made from high strength, hot rolled structural steel shapes supplied by state-of-the-art North American mills. The structural steel racking and product storage systems we use are the most durable in the industry, and are extremely well suited to the toughest warehouse conditions such as those found in food and grocery operations.

SAFETY BARS & ACCESSORIES
SNAP-IN/DROP-IN SAFETY BARSPre-Galvanized Snap-In Safety Bars snaps into place on pre-punched, built-in step beams. The safety bar locks in place, providing maximum protection for people and equipment and it meets CSA standards without requiring mechanical fastening.
Precision formed from high strength steel, it’s able to withstand years of abuse.
UNIVERSAL SAFETY BARSHook-over safety bars are manufactured from the same high strength steel as beams and are available with cups to suit 1-1/2” (40mm) or 2” (50mm) beam depths. Each cup on the safety bar comes with a pre-punched hole for mechanically fastening the safety bar to beam.
Hook over safety bars work with both box and step beams.
SAFETY CLIPSThose small clips, pins or fasteners that come with your box or step beams are extremely important safe-ty items for your racking. They prevent unintentional beam uplift, caused by lift trucks, from dislodging your beams. Always make sure they are in place.
Nothing is more important than safety. At Racked Out, we consider it our job to protect you — your employees, your customers, and anyone who enters your facility. Its also our job to safeguard your investment, which is why we strongly recommend that both your people and your pallet racking have the safest environment to work in. Yes, your pallet racking system is working for you, so it’s important to protect it.
Safety bars give an added level of safety and protection for pallet racking by preventing misplaced pallets from acci-dentally falling through the beams. All the storage facility protectors and guards Racked Out recommends are made of solid steel – without impinging on important operation areas like pick points and aisle flow.
BARS, CLIPS & NETTING
11
SAFETY BARS & ACCESSORIES BARS, CLIPS & NETTING
SAFETY NETTING• Protect employees from falling cartons and
packages• Reduce product damage• Can be installed vertically or horizontally to suit
your protection needs• Affordable and easy to install• Protection for entire rows of racking or individual bays• Kits can be provided for your specific needs• Racked Out can provide professional installation
Safety netting systems are mounted directly to the frame of the existing pallet racking with special attachment clamps, extension hardware, aircraft cable, and fastening hardware. They offer a simple, affordable means of pre-venting packages from falling onto workstations below or onto adjacent walkways, protecting personnel from injury and packages from damage. Clamps do not require any drilling, welding, or modification to the pallet racking, main-taining the integrity of the system.
All safety netting we use is tested in accordance with ANSI A10.11 standards to ensure they meet the required strength ratings. Installing safety netting will help you to meet the criteria of the new Pre-Start Health and Safety Review (PSR).
WIRE MESH RACK GUARD• Provides similar protection for employees as
safety netting but in a rigid form• Helps reduce product damage• Installs quickly and easily with nuts and bolts• Available in standard and custom sizes• Affordable walkway and work area protection

PROTECTION & GUARDING
RACK SENTRY®It only takes one damaged rack post to compromise the structural integrity of an entire racking unit. Rack post protectors prevent expensive rack and shelving damage from forklifts and pallet trucks. Easy to install, these heavy steel protectors are a low cost method for reducing damage to expensive equipment, while also protecting personnel from falling rack structures hit by moving vehicles.
COLUMN SENTRY®Now proven to be the best column damage prevention available: recent testing found that the genuine Column Sentry® protector was 83% more effective in resisting impact than the imitation column protector.
Column Sentry® is the original, patented column protec-tor, protecting interior building columns and rack posts from forklift collisions by surrounding them with a cush-ion of air. This column protector is highly visible in its standard safety yellow colour. When hit, Column Sentry® flexes, to help protect the column, the forklift, and the forklift operator.
The protector is moulded of low-density polyethylene, making it tough while keeping it maintenance free.
BENEFITS• Installs easily by hand in just seconds • Low purchase, installation and replacement cost• Absorbs substantial fork lift impacts• Ingenious design securely grips the post with no
separate fasteners• Effective in cold environments as low as -40°C• Available to suit many types of rack post profiles

BOLTED RACKING
Did you know North America is unique in its use of welded racking? Most of the rest of the world relies on the strength, customization, and economy of bolted pallet racking. But Canadian companies are getting wise – over the last 20 years the popularity of bolted racking systems has continually been on the rise. At Racked Out, we want all our clients to have the opportunity to reduce costs and make efficient choices.
Costs of Manufacturing Bolted racking skips the weld line. Less time at the man-ufacturer means it’s less expensive to produce – which means cost savings can be passed on to the customer.
Economical Repairs Repairing bolted frame racking is simple and economi-cal, because it takes very little time. The damaged piece can be singled out, removed and replaced with ease. Re-pairs of welded frame racking require cutting, grinding, welding, and painting, which can be timely and costly. Plus, with a re-weld, it can be more difficult to verify the frame’s continued strength.
SEISMIC Considerations The movement that seismic activity produces can be detrimental to your racking system. Bolted racking pro-vides less rigidity and offers more forgiveness during seismic activity – in the same way that your warehouse is bolted together to forgive the movements of the earth. Welded frames aren’t always as forgiving, and can be more prone to cracking or breaking during seismic events.
CARTON FLOW
Customization of Racking Bolts are adjustable – that’s their whole purpose. Bolted racking systems are designed for quick and cost-efficient customization, with bracing that is easily moved along the uprights to accommodate various heights. Custom-ization of welded racking on the other hand involves a process similar to racking repairs, and involves cutting braces out, cutting the column down and then reweld-ing it together again and painting it.
Shipping CostsWelded frames come from the manufacturer in their larger, pre-assembled form, meaning transportation of these uprights requires much more space than a dis-assembled bolted frame. Bolted frames allow for more compact shipping arrangements, better utilizing the space of a transport trailer. This more efficient use of space can save you up to 60% in transportation costs.
